I also have a family history of Alzheimer’s and dementia, and I agree this symptom is the worst. My body can fail, but I’d like to keep what’s left of my mind.
That’s why I read so much. I hurt too much to do much, but I want to keep my brain working. I have tried apps like Brain Age and puzzles, but the stylus on the DS hurts my hands. Writing hurts everything. So much for a lot of blogging or my NaNoWriMos. Reading a lot and many types of books helps me feel I am able to have adventures and meet new people and worlds. What do you do to help keep your brain working? Any tips for the foggy times?
I’m a reader as well but I often find my head hurting so I’ve really been limited to short spurts. I’m a crafter so I often knit or crochet or embroider. I feel like I’m accomplishing something and using my brain – even if I’m just sitting on the couch. Which I do a lot of! 😉
I crochet more than knit, usually with plarn so I feel I am helping the planet. When I do that I am listening to a book on Audible or Text-to-speech on my Kindle. I don’t think I could handle embroidery, eyes and hands can’t work on something that tiny. But yeah, a lot of couch or sitting up in bed. Reading or television keeps my attention from the pain. Wishing you some pain free days.
