Anyway, this swing-shift sleeper didn’t get up for the full snow yesterday. This is all I got:

Today Chris has a doctor’s appointment (shoulder recheck, I think) so I got up early to help him).Here’s what I saw:

I was lucky to read this ARC from NetGalley. It was an engaging read.
Enjoyable in places, it was hard to read in others. After all, the author tried to give us a bit of a history lesson, while helping the reader to see what it might have been like for the Russians as the Red Party took over and the current royalty was killed or escaped the country.
There seemed to be a bit of repetitive information. As this was my go-to-sleep book, it was okay. It did its job. At least I caught it before the Kindle broke my head as I dropped it. But it wasn’t dull information. And that is a hard call. Sometimes you have to remind the reader about people or moments they may have forgotten chapters ago.
What I most liked is that this is a prequel for a book I read earlier, Lilac Girls. The book follows the family back in time and how they helped the Russian immigrants fleeing the tortures and possible murders of their home country.
I look forward to reading the next book that goes back further into the Civil War.

Content with ten volleys over the net, Annette, the ninety-cent player on the volleyball team, retired to the tent to relieve the tension of her tenable reputation.
“Attention,” the announcement proclaimed, “Due to inclement weather, the trophy goes to Annette. Please remove the net, de-tent, and be ready to go in ten!” But the rest of the team barely made a dent in the decampment.
Annette sighed and listened to her internal encouragement. In ten seconds the team was packed up, heading home, cellphone out, checking the net. Yay! Annette!
I didn’t expect this until tomorrow.
Still, that last fly in the house is seeing the end is near. And the constant dust blowing is being covered in clean white snow. The heater is on. How is it where you are? Do you get a Fall or go straight from Summer to Winter?
And the trees that were green last week look like this:
The chickens have leaves to search under.
But they don’t seem to mind.
The coming cold and storm from Alaska make the barometric pressure change drastically. Which means I can barely move. Proof? Here:
Still, the child inside can’t wait to see the snow!
So, this happened this morning. Let me explain. Chris gets the cats. Kali sleeps with me. When he gets up early they congregate with the swing-shift sleeper. But how to get up? Kali’s dilemma is worse. Here’s the pictorial version. The first has a circle around our sleeping Rosey. Arrow points to Kali, who didn’t fit in the frame. Oh, and the blue plaid are my PJ pants and I’m right up against the wall.
I figure out how to ease off the end of the bed.
Kali’s face tells the story. And finally she has figured it out.
My feet are STARK cold: Winter is coming.
I’ve made a bunch of these comfort dolls. Yet this is the biggest one. Reminds me of the Pilsbury Dough Boy,

And snow soon!
Shorty socks. Ran out of orange on the second sock just four rows from the toe part. Husband liked them. I donated to him though it goes on the charity count. I usually don’t donate to friends and family. I use my own yarn for that. But the group has been good about realizing most of us are a paycheck away from needing charity ourselves. Even still, most every project goes to the group.
Oh, I have no idea what kind of yarn this is. It seemed thin enough to make socks. Used the ‘his’ or purple loom of the KB His and Hers set.
Though mostly flat-knit stitch, heel and toe are done with German Short-rows.
