What have I been focusing on this week?

I’m pretty proud to have received this today. Whoopie!
Nearly 2/3s finished with my second dragon. This one isn’t so naturally straight as my last one. I can see so much needing the straightening tool before I finish.
For nearly two years, I have worked on just sight-reading and trying to enjoy music. My progress is slower than I’d like, but I think I am nearly caught up with my 12-year-old self. But I’m still not near my music major days of my 40s. So I have been working through the next book. By the way, I learned piano and reading at the same time, so Music is my first/second language. I think that is why I love Italian.
The last chapter I read yesterday suggested practicing the bad parts 10 times correctly before moving on. When I was a child, my mother would have 10 buttons on the left side of the piano. Each time I played a piece or section, I would move a button per attempt. I hate to admit Mom was right. And I found myself balking at the thought of going through that again. I wanted to play! Today I chose to try to stay with my energy. I will gradually move into that rhythm of practice. Today’s reading led me to see other ways to get there. Shorter practice times with breaks and naps, and always a good night’s sleep. Okay, maybe I can handle it. I’ll keep reading. Eventually, I will have to take notes. Meanwhile, my goals are not to teach or play in concerts. My goal is to enjoy it and, hopefully, get loved ones to enjoy it too.

Because of my arm/shoulder pain, I am not knitting or crocheting so much. That means lots of games on my tablets, I like the escaping blocks type games. Any suggestions while healing?

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “something you enjoyed.” Write about something you thoroughly enjoyed. Use it any way you’d like. Have fun!

I know my life might seem boring to others, but this blog is the place where I talk about the things I enjoy.

Would I love to travel or go to amusement parks? You bet. But my life seems to be on a different path. I find my joy where I live.

Learning something new gives me joy. Bring creative expresses my joy. And also do arts like drawing and diamond painting, music, like piano and my other recent pursuits, writing the story popping up in my head brings me joy. Yarning is delightful.

My favorite is visiting with family and friends. But that doesn’t happen as often as I’d like still it’s the icing on the enjoyment cake.

So the groove is coming back!

The lighthouse is nearly finished. It was very inexpensive. And VERY POOR quality. The diamonds move around due to glue ‘rivers’. And the diamonds are not very smooth. So as soon as I finish the last little bit I may throw it away. At least I had a small painting to try out the light pad. This was all on my lap on the recliner. It worked.

But…

From farther away it looks better and sparkles.
I love this rechargeable long life battery light pad. Here is a little info about the light pad.

Remember how Linda had the coloring prompt? It kind of faded for a lot of us. I still want to, but find the setting up and needing a place to comfortably color difficult. Instead, my husband got into the coloring apps. He even found an app that does surprise pictures. There is no outline of shapes in the picture. You just tap the number of the corresponding color. Eventually, there’s a picture. It’s funny/cute when he and I are coloring together. Retirement has it’s surprises!❤️

After I tire of a game or two, while listening to my audiobook,  I start coloring. I started the above last night. My eyes got tired so I finished this morning even before coffee. ‘Masquerade’ from Phantom of the Opera played in my head as I finished.

Though I’ve not done much knitting, I did manage 45 minutes on the stationary bike then played a couple pieces on the piano. Yay!

And not to brag, but to celebrate, lookie here! Sorry if you already saw it on Facebook. But I do feel good that even with the road trip I didn’t miss a day. One lesson takes 5-15 minutes. Some days I do all 10 languages but mostly the ones I feel most passionate about. Right now, Italian and Japanese are my favs.
What are you making, how’s your Monday? Have a great week!

Ta Da Tuesday

I finally organized my wig stuff I’d been playing with since before Halloween. Now it’s all in it’s own bin.

Then I started organizing my hobby shelf. Just the art cubby.

Now I can find what I need.

And now I can get back to

And

Yes, my diamond painting and piano are calling.

But before I can go to bed these two are wanting attention.

Tuning and a chord or two, and Aura Lee.

Tuesday’s Tidbit

Found on Facebook. Shared because even I need the reminder.

Trying Tuesday

Sometimes I’m looking for other things to try. Today my curiosity is sending me to these tutorials.

I can’t seem to get myself to sit at the piano even though I miss it so much. So I thought maybe working on ear training and playing with chords rather than sight reading. This might do the trick for me.

I saw this on Facebook. Isn’t beautiful?

So I looked up Quilling.

I want to try watercolor and acrylic painting so here are a couple tires for those.

What are you trying these days?

Things I’d like to Try

Van Gogh’s Starry Night with the first image taken by the James Webb telescope by alpgenart

I’d like to add this to my Van Gogh wall.

On another level, I want to learn better ways to fix mistakes in knitting. I tried a lifeline as I remembered doing a long time ago. I spent all day fixing my mistake. For future reference I’m posting the YouTube I should have watched early this morning. Hope it helps others and future me.

Finishing Friday

Since the bear and other toy haven’t progressed at all since last seen they don’t rate a picture. I promise, this weekend I’ll stuff, sew, and make faces. On them and myself!

Does it count if progress was made then tinking had to happen? I’m almost to the point of the dreaded goof. Then the hat will become.
This hat shows promise. Two inches then time to decrease crown.
This latecomer hat is nearing end of brim.
Scrappy slipper socks farther along than before mad frogging. Ankles and cuff are all that’s left. Yay!
Starry Night is nearly finished. Tomorrow or Sunday. It’s inspiring my own inner artist to come out.
My Van Gogh sketch wants to be transferred to canvas then painted or pasteled. Scary. I’ve never done a painting outside of the occasional paint-by-number. Wish me luck!

The Walking Dead Deluxe #21The Walking Dead Deluxe #21 by Robert Kirkman
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

As much as I love Michonne in the show and in the previous issue, I am not a fan of hers in this book. This story is full of intrigue and keeps you guessing.

Again, I have to say how much I love reading comics on Kindle, where you have control of the font and picture sizes.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a short review. Sorry. It has been a while since I read it. I was excited to see Michonne again. I love reading these in Kindle format because I can see so much more. I can enlarge the cell and see the words and pictures so much better.
