Adventures and Musings of an Arch Druidess

I’ve been thinking a lot about the shootings because women didn’t fulfil the shooter’s fantasy and the comments some men have made that “Not all men are like that” and I finally have to say something.

If you have ever gone out with your buddies and one of them commented on a woman for “not putting out” or about her body, and you didn’t call them on it. You are part of the problem.

If you have ever heard a man catcall at a woman and didn’t stop it. You are part of the problem.

If you have ever told a woman she should wear make up or shave or pluck something or wear anything she didn’t want to wear. You are part of the problem.

If you have ever judged a woman or girl on her looks alone and didn’t speak to her first. You are part of the…

Review: Sunspots

Sunspots
Sunspots by Karen S. Bell
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

I’m sorry. I just couldn’t get into this book. The first chapter was okay. I felt sorry for the main character as she lived through her losses. But mostly the rest was memories of her falling in love with the cowboy-lawyer or whatever he was. I just didn’t like the characters and the writing was so boring that I was looking for other things to read. So thanks. But no thanks. Not for me. I see that others loved it so it must be the kind you love or hate. There are books for everyone and all moods.

By the way, I picked this up for free from BookRooster for honest review.

Morning in the Burned House
Morning in the Burned House by Margaret Atwood
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I borrowed this book from my daughter ages ago. She and I both forgot I had it. I remember visiting her and finding it and sitting and reading with fascination during some boring quiet time. She had many poems dogeared and I could say those were my favorites also. I like Margaret Atwood’s writing style, her descriptions were wonderful.

Though the font was small the format of poetry left plenty of empty page to rest my eyes. Even so I needed to take my time with it to fully absorb the depth of the poems before me. I haven’t read poetry for a long time so I had to remember how to think in that abstract way.

Still, I think it’s about time I read The Handmaid’s Tale that was recommended to me decades ago by my friend.

Sorry for missing the last few days. I got to go on holiday with my daughter and son. I got to go to the beach! I really needed that! AND I proved that the barometric pressure is much more stable in CA than it is in NV. I only hurt from using muscles not used normally. My fibromyalgia seemed to fade into that background it used to sit in when I lived there. I want to move back to CA so I can feel healthy again! Anyway, enjoyed visiting with my kids and singing to the top of my lungs with them.!

Myths

At one time or another most of us have either read or heard some of the following myths.

The first and biggest myth we hear is that Fibromyalgia isn’t a real disease and that it is

“all in our head”.

Here are just a few of them that I have read/heard;

  • Fibromyalgia is just an umbrella term.
  • Only women get fibromyalgia syndrome.
  • Fibromites should not exercise.
  • Fibromyalgia is caused by depression.
  • “My Aunt used to have Fibromyalgia but it went away”
  • There are drugs available which correct or cure the cause of fibromyalgia.
  • There is nothing that can be done to treat Fibromyalgia.
  • FILL IN THE BLANK….. is a cure for Fibromyalgia.
  • It is not possible to have a good quality of life with fibromyalgia.

It would be great if everyone with Fibromyalgia had the same symptoms, pain level  and “evil sidekicks”.

It would be even better if there…
