It’s a toddler-size cloche. The band is removable and can be worn alone. It was fun to make!

So cute! ๐
Thanks! It was fun!
Cute! My mother must have crocheted dozens of hats for my girls. When they grew out of them, we donated them to the local children’s hospital ๐
Almost everything I make goes to charity. The yarn is free from our Hugger Hats group so it is fun to experiment and learn new aspects that I might be afraid if I had to buy yarn at today’s prices. And I feel good that I am helping someone in some small way.
I don’t crochet or knit.
When I sit down to textiles, I quilt. But not much since I took my job.
I haven’t gotten to quilting. When I could sit in the sewing positions I was trying to make clothes. Quilts have gotten SO artistic nowadays. We have someone here that is nothing short of a Da Vinci. Her work is on the library walls. I’ve watched her sew, on the machine such tiny pieces that surprise the heck out of me. Aren’t jobs great? You make money that you can do more on than before but the energy is spent and getting back to hobbies is so hard. I’d like to see your quilts sometime. What great gifts!
Oh I love my job. Totally love my job ๐ It’s not about the money, but I like getting paid, too.
I have less free time, but no less energy. The traffic on the way home is probably the most exhausting part, lol! OH and the leaving, cause anxiety.
You can see my quilts (and some others) here https://jolenemottern.com/2014/04/19/q-is-for-quilts/
I have had a job like that! The money was nice but I could have lived there! Ooooooh I love your quilts!!! All of them!!!! My grandmother made a bonnet one for the granddaughters. It was my favorite! Yet, when one of my cats got hit by a car a few decades ago, I grabbed it up and cozied the cat in it. The vet couldn’t save her. I couldn’t touch the quilt so left it in the trunk of the car. A battery back there tilted over and spilled on the quilt. It was ruined. A double tragedy. But you are right about quilts being cold and cozy. Oh, how I miss mine!
Oh, that’s a sad quilt story.
Thanks for looking ๐
That’s so cute! Ah, I really should get back to knitting again.
Do you use the looms or needles? I got to where crocheting and knitting by needle were causing me pain. Using the looms are so much more fun. I rarely lose stitches and can figure out how to fix. LoomAHat has great YouTubes to get you started or find inspirational pieces to try. I forgot to give credit for this hat. It is Scarlett Royal’s Cloche Anyway, start small and enjoy the meditative aspect of yarn!
I always use needles now, though I used you use a loom when I was little. My dad made me one out of a wooden thread spool and four nails. Great for making strings. ๐
My grandpa made me one of those when I was a kid, too. I’ve made slippers and scarves with needles but found they hurt my hands. But I do find knitted garments prettier than crocheted. The big looms we have now are good for imitating that kind of knitting. The positions for holding the loom and pick tool are easier on the hands–for me.
