Drums of Autumn (Outlander, #4)Drums of Autumn by Diana Gabaldon

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oops! I nearly forgot to review this one. I just moved into the next read (a library book).

I really wish I would have read this before the series on television. I liked the rhythm of the story better. I like the viewpoints presented here as Clair’s rather than Bree. It is different not having the information that comes with the daughter making the voyage back in time and back to America.

I think we got into Roger’s head a little more, too. It doesn’t take away from the show. It is actually interesting the take the directors and actors took the storyline without losing the story.

No spoilers here. Just glad I read (listened to the Audible) it and can’t wait to get into the next one!

Travel Day

Kali!

What?

Kali, we’re going Bye-bye!

Really?

To the vet?

Bleah!

But the trip in the new to us car was so smooth and we listened to music from my phone. No pain! The people at the vet were so sweet to her and she seemed happy to be there. Even the shots and nail trim didn’t seem to phase her. So she’s good for another year (three for the rabies shot). And I am not so scared of that long drive because it was nearly painless. Yay! Thanks to Kali’s Alma Mater I only had to pay $8 for the last part of the bill. Let’s have another YAY!

Now Kali sleeps.

Though painless the trip is long for all of us. I, too, had to nap when I got back.

International Women’s Day.

I can’t think out a better post for this day!

I am running  so late  today , I have  not had  time  to write a post  for  International Women’s Day. I thought I  would re-post  an SoCs from November 2016. In  that post I paid tribute to  the  women  of  WW1  and  WW2 who  took over  all  the  jobs  that the  men  who  had  been  sent  off  to  war  left  empty here in what  was  known then as  Great  Britain.

Not only did the women do these , sometimes very dangerous jobs, but they looked after the families and homes. Now I do not wish in any way to detract from the huge sacrifice of all the men who fought for our countries during the two wars .

First a poem.

Remember the women left back home.

They made the ammunition for Tommy

Dangerous work, they died too, it was not funny.

Women became officers of the law

Something never heard of…

Sad Sunday

I love it when family and friends come to visit. I absolutely turn to jello and can’t find my keys to the new-to-me car I’m so sad.

Then I spend the ride home thinking about the good feelings of no bra, no shoes, and sweatpants. And fish and chips. And a wonderful newish car. I look at it and even though I am comfortable and self-soothed, and Kali snuggles, I miss the daylights out of my family and friends. Even the recommended Daylight Savings Time nap didn’t take away that sad.

Back to life as we know it. Watching Doc Martin season 9 while knitting and snuggles. I am feeling grateful for all the love, happiness, and health that surrounds me. I wish it for all of you, too!

Per Linda:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “figure.” Use the word “figure” any way you’d like. Have fun!

I didn’t know how to start or flow with the word figure. After all, that is more a left-brain sort of word rather than the right-brained sort that would work for me. So I looked at Pixabay.com and found this:

And it is amazing that today I got a gift from a friend via a mutual friend who came visiting today.

It had this in it:

I figure a friend who would send something like that to me knows me and loves me. What do you figure?

I figure I’m pretty lucky to be surrounded by love. And Christmas is going to be quite the tale (tail).

Sending out the love to all of you. Especially, my mermaid friend.

Finished Friday

Hat number two with same Caron Simply Soft acrylic yarn. Soft Pink, Orchid, and black. It is a soft yarn. But I don’t think that it is a good sock or slipper yarn as it isn’t very stretchy. Because of that, I chose to use the e-wrap knit stitch. The brim was a garter stitch which is one row of knit, one row of purl. The rest just the e-wrap mentioned before. I made this one the same KB white loom, 72 pegs, fine-gauge that I used for the hat just before this one. I’ve started another with the black yarn hoping to make a hat for a little boy. I hope I can finish by tomorrow.

I haven’t decided whether or not to make pom-poms those the girly hats look like they might be even cuter with them. I’m not a fan of pom-poms but I love making them on the little tools for them.

I get to see the family tomorrow! I can hardly wait! Snow is expected so praying for a safe drive.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Keep safe and healthy!

Not Quite Finished

By the end of the night, I will have finished this next hat. But I don’t have time to blog and knit to get the job on either properly. So here it is on the loom.

I do wish the pretty colors showed up better. They are all shiny. That is lavender, black, and pink. I’ll describe the process and name the yarn tomorrow. I need to get it done.

I hope you are all having a great Thursday!

So my husband gave me a long explanation of how he fixed his breakfast in the microwave and forgot to scramble or poke the yoke. I’m looking at him wondering why the long story. He rubbed the side of his mustache and told me, “Well, I just realized that I had egg on my face when we kissed.” We both had clean faces so I wondered what it meant. Anyone?

Tuesday’s Ta Da

Finished. A convertible hat. Hehe.

Caron, Simply Soft, Soft Pink, Orchid, Black. on the KB Fine Gauge, 72 peg loom. The white one. The brim is four by four, rib stitch. The rest is e-wrapped. The camera on my phone just doesn’t pick up the pretty pastel colors. This one is a gift for a friend.
