It has been a fantastic Sunday. I know to most of you it sounds boring. But I did my usual Zoom service, CBS Sunday Morning, and then for most of the day I watch some Galaxycon Live. Then The Walking Dead and Talking Dead. The whole time I am just knitting. I was nearly finished with the brim of a hat but made a mistake and had to frog. So now I am trying out a different stitch for the brim.
Sounds like my usual Sunday, doesn’t it? It was sunny but that breeze is still cold.
Best of all I got to talk to my son! He had some pretty exciting news that I don’t know if I can share. But regardless of the news, I was just happy to hear from him. I can’t wait until we can all see each other again! By the way, we get out vaccines tomorrow, all in my house. So by tomorrow night at this time shot one will be checked off the list. Then in a month we get our second. Yeah, Moderna.
I hope you do ok with the shot, you say they’re coming to you? Yea! That’s convenient! I’ve heard too many negative things besides the obvious “mark of the Beast” comments to want to get one. Besides, I’m so healthy (knock on wood) that I don’t even get flu shots any more.
I missed my Sunday morning program cause Dave hates it now. Too one-sided politically.
We do online church too since the pandemic closed ours, but Easter we get to go back live!!! I’m so happy!
The shots gave us all a bit of a sore arm but nothing else and even that not too uncomfortable.
A couple decades ago, I worked for a company that was fun. Met a lot of friends. One year it seemed everyone was getting the flu but me. They called me, lovingly, ‘the outbreak monkey’. Could I have been infected an not have the symptoms? There was no way to know but it got me thinking.
A couple years later the company gave us all the flu shot. I got sick for a week. When I was finally able to I went to the doctor’s across the street. That doctor told me to never get the flu shot as I had an albumin sensitivity.
As I am in my 70s now with a couple autoimmune conditions, I am worried when the flu goes around. With COVID19 I am even more afraid as I fit the ones who would be hospitalized.
I understand the anger at having to wear masks but I don’t think it a controversy. I think it works like manners. Our mothers taught us to cover our mouths when we sneeze or cough. Those covers can also be restrictive to our freedoms. But when I see someone not wearing a mask I think of someone who doesn’t cover their sneezes. Some other outbreak monkey could have it and spread it. Now I am old enough that it could kill me. I want to live a long time. The vaccine is said to make a less dangerous form of the disease, should a person catch it. They are saying it is 100% good for preventing hospitalization. I hope it is true.
At least I know that in a couple months I can see my family and friends again without fear of getting them sick or me sick. Again, this is the chance I am willing to take for love.
And as a homebody, I like the zoom meets. I just want to join a choir. I miss singing.
Hooray for good news for you and your son, hooray for news of your shots! We here in the UK we have to wait twelve weeks in-between shots!💜💜💜
What is the name of the shot you are getting that there is that much time between shots. Ours is Moderna and is the longest between as a month. But so glad to get the chance to be a bit safer than without.
We had Astrozenica, but there is a twelve week gap between both the Astrozenica and Pfizer jab in the UK. We just have those two jabs. 💜
Interesting how different our countries handle these issues.
Yes indeed, weird really. Apparently the 12week gap is more efficacious than a shorter one? 💜
I don’t know, I only play scientist on TV. Just kidding. The studies must vary country by country, availability of vaccine, etc. I’m just happy to have something to help protect our loved ones and ourselves from gruesome hospital intubation.
I agree with you totally! 💜💜
