Just Jot It January, Cancer

Cancer is a word none of us want to hear. Unless you or your child are born between June 21 to July 22. Sadly for my mom she was born during that time and died of the worst cancer, pancreatic. One moment she wasn’t feeling well. Progressing quickly from not being able to eat to exploratory surgery. They closed her up. Gave her six weeks. But she was gone before I could see her again.

I wrote the above paragraph this morning. My jotting gave out. This was about a cancer that happened in 1990s.

Many family members and friends have passed since. And others got reprieved of the cancer sentence.

I wish everyone healthy lives without cancer.

And all the other ribbons that represent.

Just Jot It January, Solo

Check out Linda’s prompt page.

Solo, Han please sing.

I bet his song was about somebody else’s daddy or a confused girl who seemed to be in love with her brother.

I don’t know where that came from. Just a trip into a bit different.

This was a prompt from the Random Word Generator. Sometimes random feels personal!

I could spend hours in therapy over this word. That may be one of the most exciting words while being the most perspiration producing of all times.

I remember the first day of voice classes. I had decided never to come back. I wouldn’t walk out like one guy. That would draw too much attention. But why’d I come to this class? No, nope!

I took 8 semesters and then voice classes with the teacher. I ended up soloing in local churches, singing with a Renaissance recorder group. We even made a recording in a studio. My prof sent students to me. Yeah.

But piano accompaniment was also part of the class for me. Whereas I learned to love singing solo, I’m still terrified to play the piano in front of people.

On the flip side of it all. I haven’t sung a solo for decades. Now I think I’d nearly die. But really, I miss singing.

Well, that sums it up. Therapy is too expensive. You’re welcome.

When you can’t hear it, it’s Solo.

Per Linda: Your prompt for JusJoJan January 2nd 2023, is “constellation.” Use the word “constellation” any way you’d like. Have fun!

Thanks, Willow, for today’s prompt. Click on her name to check out her blog.

Look at all those stars!

As Van Gogh illustrated it seems they are in motion. And they blink in and out. Magical. Even when we know the science behind the beauty. We are in awe.

As a young person, I gazed at the stars and learned the names of the constellations you would think that my favorite would be the archer. Sagittarius, after all. But I gravitated to the serpentine creature between the big bear and little bear. Draco. I could hear him call to me.

One day he joined the constellation of characters in my books. There are nearly as many dragons in the books I write as there are people. Dragons can teach, transfer in time and space, form living areas for everyone when the planet surface becomes uninhabitable due to meteors falling.

Best of all, dragons are a reflection of our inner being. That’s why my favorite dragon is Enelrad. Her mate is Sirch.

We can be brave and fly between bears (or the stars). We can fly between the constellations.

Someday I will be able to publish Haven’s stories.

Here we are again, JusJoJan. A fun way to kick the resolution to write every day into gear. See what I did there?

Per Linda:. Your prompt for JusJoJan January 1st 2023, is “resolution.” Use the word “resolution” any way you’d like. Have fun!

I don’t do well with resolutions. It’s a sure fire way to get a couple of days of habit forming the good or eliminating the bad ways to fall on the floor with my inner teen rebel. I prefer seeing the end result in my head. I see if it seems in attunement with my nature. Can I see the possibilities of it working with my passions? If so no other thought is necessary.

That worked quite well for me for a couple of years. My weight had dropped and my blood tests have improved a lot. All from the thought that what my son said about Keto/fasting felt right to me. It had been easy. I don’t work hard at it. I just follow my mind/body. If, as my birthday, I want pizza, I have it with a passion and go back to healthy the next day. See? No resolution. Just keep leaning toward what feels right to my body.
