Unfinished Friday

I’m here with the same unfinished pair of socks as last week. Wow! Who knew I would get so little done? I did add an inch or so to the ankle and have halfway finished the cuffs.

This week has gone very fast. Every task I set up for myself got side railed and remains to be finished. I’m still learning about podcasting and now have a mic. I have a stand to hold my phone as I record. But the table and area I plan to do it all still remains a chore. But the excitement of getting it started and reading aloud to friends. Or getting to know how I will overcome the stage fright, and social anxiety, scares me. Yet seems the thing to do. So tomorrow the table will be readied, and I’ll figure a way to read while I still have the cataracts. And still no appointment for the surgery. I have excitement in me for the first time in a long time. And I’ll probably finish these socks tomorrow.

Happy Friday!

UnFinished Friday

The above socks sans cuffs are among many projects not finished this week. Three days of appointments, two of which were out of town (two hours each way), kept me from my usual machinations. I had to look up that word. I’ll stick with it as it might make those who know me have a giggle. There are no evil schemes afoot—just my knitting, writing, and editing.

Dare I say this? COVID19 has made doctor visits more efficient. I take along
reading material and knitting for those sitting times. So far, that hasn’t happened
at all. Walk-in. Temp check. Empty room with empty chairs to fill out forms.
Then call to a solitary room—everyone with masks and lots of hand sanitizer. I
felt safe, and the jobs were done quickly and like a well-oiled machine. And no
uncomfortable waiting in a room of ill people. It is as though they have
figured out how to take care of individuals. I think that is a good thing. Now,
will they be able to maintain the good when things go back to ‘normal?’

Still, no time to sit and read or edit or knit or write while waiting.
Talking with my husband and singing happened. Those don’t have a finish line,
do they? I hope not. Well, soon enough, I will have new eyes, and I will be
able to read real books. I miss the tree books!

Well, back to knitting as I watch Doctor Who. Did you know that the first of
Christopher Eccleston’s Who is on HBO Max? He was my first Doctor Who. Though
David Tenet is my favorite. Had better writers been used, Jodie Whittaker would
have been. The actress did the best she could with what she was given.

By the way, if the URL shows up in the podcast, I’m sorry. I’m still
learning how to do this.

Meet One of My Teachers

I often show my loom knit projects. I just thought it would be fun to share with you an interview with one of the ladies that got me started. Denise Canale. Actually, my first teacher was a nice lady, Carol, here in Christmas Valley who is the head of the Hat Huggers Charity. But soon I graduated to the LoomaHat.com videos on YouTube.

This is presented by the ladies at CinDWood Looms. Yes, they hand make each and every loom. I love those looms I have about 6 of them. Find the interview HERE.

Tired had been the theme of the week since the vaccine. It does seem like the rest of the family felt the same way. Maybe we were just tired for no reason. It happens. I still tried to get my normal tasks done. And guess what? I finished something!

These are going to Hugger Hats, the charity group. Done two-at-a-time on Flexee fine-gauge looms with 40 pegs (20 links) each loom. Kitchener cast-on, German short-rows for toe and heel. Flat knit stitch until cuff. Cuff two-by-two knit/purl. These are great slipper socks. I know because I have enjoyed my own pair for a couple months.

A to Z Challenge, K

Kali is one of my favorite ‘K‘ words. This poor ole girl is slowing down like me. Arthritis makes her a bit of a ‘Hop-a-long Cassidy’. That’s only when she walks or trots. When she gets happy she can gallop like the wind. She barely touches the ground. I wish I could jog like my daughter because I think Kali would love that so much. I hope the wind dies soon so we can get outside for real walks again.

Knitting, loom or needle is another favorite. Here are a couple of Works In Progress. A pair of charity socks, a charity hat, and a charity toy.

Keto is a new word for me but I am trying to learn how to make it work for me especially with my Intermittent Fasting. Knowledge is power and I am knuckling down to growing healthier. The key seems to be getting your body to use fats instead of sugars for energy.

It seems my favs are four lettered. One to embrace for all, though, is Kindness.

Sock Sunday

Finally finished the slippers. Pretty proud of these leftover bits. The perfect way to finish a beautiful Sunday.

I don’t know if I’ll get any editing done. I did take my walk. Kali is out cold on the sofa. Guess I wore her out.

Now onto Duolingo and early to bed.

Ta Da Tuesday

These slipper socks should be finished tomorrow sometime. It was fun playing with the leftover bits of yarn. Notes: KB fine-gauge Flexee loom, 40 pegs each. Kitchener cast-on . German short-rows for toe and heel. Cuffs will be 2×2 knit, purl ribbing.

Far From Finished Friday

As I look around I have so many projects and all of them far from finished. The items I am most drawn to is a mixed up crazy pair of slipper socks. I have finished the toe and plan to match the heels and possibly the cuff in the pink. The rest will be stray yarn around here. I think they will be fun warmth for the charity. And it uses up the leftovers.

Since I want to get busy and see how I like the new color combo before fading away to bed, I’ll just post the picture and scram. Happy Friday everyone!

Sunday Funday

It has been a fantastic Sunday. I know to most of you it sounds boring. But I did my usual Zoom service, CBS Sunday Morning, and then for most of the day I watch some Galaxycon Live. Then The Walking Dead and Talking Dead. The whole time I am just knitting. I was nearly finished with the brim of a hat but made a mistake and had to frog. So now I am trying out a different stitch for the brim.

Sounds like my usual Sunday, doesn’t it? It was sunny but that breeze is still cold.

Best of all I got to talk to my son! He had some pretty exciting news that I don’t know if I can share. But regardless of the news, I was just happy to hear from him. I can’t wait until we can all see each other again! By the way, we get out vaccines tomorrow, all in my house. So by tomorrow night at this time shot one will be checked off the list. Then in a month we get our second. Yeah, Moderna.

Yikes! It’s getting late!

My tada isn’t yet another sock.

In fact, I don’t know how to show this in picture form.

I spent most of the day working on my NaNo novel from November. Camp NaNo is coming up, and I either want to write more on this story or get another outlined to write. I mostly edited and got q few scenes checked. I can see there are some big picture things to get right, but I have a hard time if the grammar and spelling are messed up. So I clean the smaller messes to see the big picture. Does that make any sense? The trees are getting in the way of the forest! So If I can get most of the trees out of the way within a week, I will rearrange the forest. That will help me know where to go next.

Meanwhile, I found a station on Pandora called Classical study time or some such that plays politely in the background. Although I get irritated when I hear Claire De Lune, Moonlight Sonata, and Für Elise played repeatedly. I like them all, just need to hear other things. And since they used to be in my piano repertory, I get distracted and want to play the piano. Music for a background is always more distracting than television. Good old reruns of favorite shows can go on for hours without my getting involved. Do other musicians or music majors have this problem?

I did start a mohair hat. It is a soft pinkish-orange. When I finished the socks, I couldn’t leave the Flexee looms sitting there without something on them—another obsession.
