Category: Loom

First, the disappointing word count of 44,235. That is 774 words short of the goal of 45,009. But I will try to make that up tomorrow.

On the other hand

Two more slipper socks, and the toe of the first of the next pair ready to go. I added a few rows on the multi-frogged X-Wing loom of four socks. So maybe the words suffer for the soft yarn? If I yarn better can I get more words? Curious minds want to know.

Meanwhile, my son and I are watching S.H.I.E.L.D.

We are into season 3. It is a Marvelous background to write to. It is fun and has similar energy that I think my NaNo has.

In the mornings after Kelly and Ryan and the View, oops and the News and GMA3 I am rewatching the Crown I just got to the Kennedy part. By the way, the choices for actors for those two was so wrong!

By the way, I finally finished Poldark. I had to leave it for a while because it added to the dispare of the day. And the cold parts were hard to watch when the weather got cold. But I did enjoy it and wished for more when it ended.

Added Over 200

Having gotten almost my whole goal for today just after midnight, I had a nice non-writing day. I did get over 200 words making the total for the day 40,090. 40,009 was today’s goal. So I got to do a lot of knitting today and my hands were so happy. I finished another slipper sock and frogged a start of another sock and got the toe done so that my “X-Wing Knitter” now has two pairs of socks going. I miss my knitting! And one of the goals for this year was to actual needle knit socks and I saw a tutorial that makes me want to try again soon!

I will need these 9″ circular needles for this sock and I think I will need two of them because I like to work two at a time so they end up the same lengths.

The next ones I could make with what I have.

I love making socks and feel my legs love me most when I wear homemade socks. So rather than sitting here writing, I think I’ll finish something knitted so I can start on these kinds of needle patterns. And now I know where to find the tutes I’m looking for! 😉

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “the last thing you put in your fridge.” Start your post with the last thing you put in your fridge. Let your mind wander from there. Enjoy!

The last thing I put in my fridge was the ranch dressing that fell out because the last person who put it in didn’t make sure it was in there securely. I wanted to complain, but I am very grateful for a full fridge. We have been blessed this month with a little extra on our cards, and so when we got the boxes, the cabinets and fridge are full. In my life, that has hardly ever been the case. Not that I have ever been hungry. But just enough that I can find what I need in the fridge is the usual scene. I am so glad my husband is starting to like my vegetarian ways. Yes, he eats some meat but very seldom. My son does the same thing buying the occasional tofu meal. He loves Kimchi. I tried to cook it a lot once I learned about it. I make the rice and veggies on the side and make sure to fry the tofu to crispie-ish. The trouble with the lockdown is that we don’t get into town to find the Kimchi. I think I will try to order some on Amazon.

Yay! Got me some Kimchi, noodles, a cooker, and tofu coming. My mouth is drooling!

Okay, now for the NaNo word count: 35,167, still barely above the goal of 35,007 but, I’m happy. I like how the story is going. Not sure I should share until I am more sure where it is going. I’m having fun. That’s all that counts.

I didn’t have a finished product yesterday for Finished Friday. I had one slipper sock done, and while chatting with my friends, I nearly finished the other. Boom! Done today!

And I have the next pair toed and ready to make the next pair.

Gnome and NaNo Update

Well, this morning I finished tiny sock number two.

It almost looks like a gnome already. But my cousin has given me ideas and the vague pattern I saw that got me started is in my head to do more. I cant wait to see how it turns out. By the way, working on the itty bitty socks was so much fun, I wish I could make tons of them!

Nano word count at this moment is 19,558 I need 500 words to take it over the requirement. Sorry, me. I had to watch Grey’s Anatomy crossover. And the living room got so cold I had to move to the bedroom with everything. Hopefully, the snow coming with warm us up a bit.

One-Liner Wednesday

Behold the boot of a gnome.

That was fun working on a keychain loom. I’ve started the second but I knew I had better get busy writing.

On that front, the word count is now 19,395.

Head over to Linda G. Hill’s site to learn more about this fun prompt.

Quick Update / Made it Monday

Well, there haven’t been a lot of words today. Less than 400. For some reason, I never got settled in front of the laptop enough to do anything. But I did find myself challenged by Gnome hats. I wanted to see if I could make a hat without sewing. Just decreases. And I was successful at that:

It worked! Yay!

I also finished the hat I mentioned yesterday.

Here is just off the loom and on the head. It’s a small adult or child’s size. I do love doing the cables on the Flexee loom.

Now I am either going to get a second wind and write for a while or hit the hay. I don’t know why I have been so sleepy today. Maybe the cold is causing me to want to hibernate!

Finishing Friday

I hate to admit to not having anything finished today.

Remember the socks on the CinDWood X loom (what I can’t help but call X-wing)?

I decided that they were turning out too wide. So I frogged nearly all four and readjusted and started three from the beginning.

Remember the half-finger gloves?

I got down to just below the thumb and can’t understand the tutorial for the next couple of rows. I’ve sent out requests to the designer to see if she can walk me through.

I have made a couple more ear warmers but something you can make in half a day doesn’t make me nearly as happy with the finished project as the hats in the above picture.

I didn’t finish my editing for the four previous chapters of Pandamapocolypse. I hope to finish that by tomorrow afternoon. Then I need to get a vague outline for the next 50K to add to that story. And I will try to beef out the characters so as to have more to write about.

Oh, and I haven’t finished the fourth and last season of Hart of Dixie. It is winding down. It is light fun. And one episode recently actually made me cry, Mostly I find it fun/funny.

If you want to watch something to escape the news and anxiety, and fun background while you get something done, this is it.

Tomorrow I may not blog as I need to get NaNoWriMoing pregame workup and then living the night of writing dangerously.  If you are joining me, good luck! And

Happy Halloween!

Monday’s Making

Mitten caps done. Half-fingers done. Now onto cuff and the sewing. I hope to finish tomorrow. NaNo characters are calling me!

I Hate the Block Editor

So instead of writing here I’m knitting until I feel less angst from this nasty way of writing. And NaNo is coming so I don’t have time for this nonsense!

I’m making my pair to be convertible as I am adding a mitten cap for the cold. These will be for the charity, Hugger Hats.

I have a friend that recently started blogging but she is upset with the change. I wish I could encourage her, but I find this new way so confusing. Any suggestions for us?
