A to Z Challenge
Let’s see, what day is it, anyway? Last night we had coyotes in our yard. Scary, yes. scared them so Kali could do her thing. But that doesn’t help know the day. Before that, I laughed with, I think, nine lovely lady writers. From my home, I went to a writers group. Oh, how I miss meeting with other writers. Especially in real life. But this will do. So Easy Writers meet on Monday. That makes today, Tuesday.
Listening to other writers meet the prompt of the day. Same prompt everyone got but a different take with each personality. I think that is so cool! As I sat trying to meet the challenge, I think, oh, my stuff will be boring, or I bet I say the same thing as everyone else. Yet, when I read my bit to them, I felt it okay. Maybe it was even funny as they laughed. I don’t think they were laughing at me.
Another way I can tell the day is math. I do the math every day to see how many words I need in my CampNaNo. The equation works like this: date times 1,667 equals how many words I should have by the end of that day. Guess what was the answer for today. 23,338. I got 23,454. I am finally ahead by a tiny little bit! That means I’m
I watched a bunch of Prompt NaNo YouTubers and it got me the storyline that helped me get caught up. The story has been kind of boring, I had even spent a day talking about my grandparents. But that didn’t help my characters or the story. Suddenly my character becomes a panda and sits and talks with the pandas. Remember the title of the book is Pandamapocalypes. Okay, so I changed it once again. But it is about the sentient virus, in a world directed by a sentient planet. So Pandas from China are important to the story. Here is my character sitting with her new friend. I’ll probably use this picture in a couple days when P is the letter of the day.
Did you know that pandas know how to change faces? When they get emotional they frown and they call that changing face. And when they laugh it sounds like an earthquake growl. April loved laughing like a panda. They are my favorite beings in the Havenverse. And they know things about the virus. The story moves forward.
I just wanted to share Linda’s blog.

My day today so far–10:49pm:
Indeed, I probably use the word “indeed” far too much.
I am, indeed very late posting my #AtoZ/#WDIIA post. For that, I apologize to anyone who’s been waiting for it all day.
But I did get a lot of work done on my book today, so that’s a plus. It was too cold to go out in the car, so Alex decided to cooperate and let me work in my room. We were both proud of him for being mature. 🙂
Winston helped matters greatly by keeping him company.
Yesterday:
It seems I’ll have to write down what I did after my daily posts … I can’t remember again what I did yesterday.
Par for the course. Indeed.
(Note to self: you didn’t do anything but go to sleep after today’s post, so don’t worry about it tomorrow.)
(There. Fixed.)
Why I’m writing this post:

There are good things happening due to the forced isolation. My friends and I love Zoom.com. Yesterday I learned that the church I occasionally attended back in my past residence was using Zoom to join the flock. Since there is no church like this here in this small town, it was great to join in. It was fun to hear the story of how a string connects us all. That was the object lesson. Everyone was to bring a string to the service. One of the leaders read a book to everyone. It was a child’s illustrated book. My string, of course, was very near. My daughter’s Boyfriend Sock was there right next to me. So it represented the link to my friends and family in the town that the service was from and personally to my daughter. The service centered on the connectedness of us all while in isolation. It was comforting and inspirational.
As a person with social anxiety boarding on agoraphobia, this situation is natural. Add to that my coccyx/hip pain in sitting in most chairs and church is out. I must admit I am not one to endure a long-winded preacher. For me, it is all about the singing. Today’s service didn’t have the audience singing, but a couple of beautiful voices did sing. After a listen or two I was singing with them here. The pastor’s message was short and sweet. She blessed the virtual strings represented. I hope I can join again next week. In comfy clothes, in comfy chair with the camera on or off. Since Hubby joined me the camera was useless as it seemed to point to the wall between us, so I turned it off. There were over a hundred people present yet I felt zero discomforts.
On another note. This darn weather has been so bad for a walker like me. And tomorrow there may be lightning storms. I don’t walk in those, either. Maybe I will pull out one of the new yoga YouTubes and see if it will work better than the chair yoga which made my coccyx/hips hurt worse when I got into it before.
March is nearly over. It came in like a lion that just sat down and decided to stay. Grrr! Well, I guess I will use my time catching up on my coloring!
Thank you, Linda G. Hill for the prompt to keep us connected during this pandemic. #WDIIA
When my grandmother got the flu during the 1918 pandemic, a white scarf tied to her family’s front door signaled quarantine. We need to be doing that today.

Today had less of what I wanted to get done. Less writing. Less walking. Less getting things read on the internet.
I did get out and walk around the yard. It was snowing big fat flakes. By the time I was getting tired the sun was warm on my face. It was not a long walk. That was the way of the weather today, it was switching from windy to cloudy then sleet, then snow, and back again within minutes. The walk was fun. But fibro flares were killing me. Kali was so excited in the snow and didn’t want to go into the house.
Even knitting was less. I think I got a row or two on the sock.
I made a group lunch, pressure cooker beans, and rice cooker brown rice. I made sure to put veggies in. It was good. It felt healthy.
Then a nap took over. Teddy and Kali decided to sleep really close to me. It was kind of cute until the jealousy took over and they tried to claim me.
So how did I get to this end of the day and have no idea what happened to the rest of the day that isn’t listed here? Has anyone else had that happen lately?
What Day Is It Anyway? And where did it go?
I could think of nothing better for One-liner Wednesday!
“All difficult things in the world are sure to arise from a previous state in which they were easy, and all great things from one in which they were small.”
― Tao Te Ching
The first half of this quote is becoming all too obvious in the world we live in. But the second half remains a challenge. Think about it. What small things in your life do you now have time to make great?
If you would like to participate in this prompt, feel free to use the “One-Liner Wednesday” title in your post, and if you do, you can ping back here to help your blog get more exposure. To execute a pingback, just copy the URL in the address bar on this post, and paste it somewhere in the body of your post. Your link will show up in the comments below. Please ensure that…

I can’t think out a better post for this day!
I am running so late today , I have not had time to write a post for International Women’s Day. I thought I would re-post an SoCs from November 2016. In that post I paid tribute to the women of WW1 and WW2 who took over all the jobs that the men who had been sent off to war left empty here in what was known then as Great Britain.
Not only did the women do these , sometimes very dangerous jobs, but they looked after the families and homes. Now I do not wish in any way to detract from the huge sacrifice of all the men who fought for our countries during the two wars .
First a poem.

Remember the women left back home.
They made the ammunition for Tommy
Dangerous work, they died too, it was not funny.
Women became officers of the law
Something never heard of…

Voyager by Diana Gabaldon
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Whew! These books are long. But good. This review is for the Audible version. After you get used to her, Davina Porter, narrator, you will find her voice versatile and natural for this story. One of my reasons for using this method to read these books is pronunciation. There are words in Gaelic or French and a couple of other languages that I wouldn’t know how to say, and text-to-speech would garble.
I don’t usually like to read a book after watching the show. I like to form my ideas of the characters before I see a director’s point of view. But so far this series translates nearly directly. It makes me proud of the show and the author of the book. It seems each of the scenes in the show was in the books. The only difference in this one is Gilly (not sure of the spelling–Audible doesn’t have written word.) I won’t spoil it for you. I actually like the book version over the show. But both work.
I can’t wait to listen to book four. And I’m looking forward to the next season of the show.
Per Linda:
Your prompt for #JusJoJan and Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “movie title.” Take the title of the last movie you watched (just the title, not the premise of the movie), and base your post on that title. Have fun!
So Saturdays we often watch disaster movies when we are tired of watching shows about animals and veterinarians. If we aren’t in the middle of a binge. Today’s movie was Day After Tomorrow. It is a fun go-to for us if we are both busy writing or knitting or reading.
The day after tomorrow is Monday. Cloudy, cold. But the day after that may have snow. I hope the snow we have right now isn’t gone so that soon the world will be as white as the world in the movie. No, I don’t want it that cold. I certainly don’t want to have to move to South America to get warm.
I promised that the second slipper sock would be done by today and: Ta DA!
I can’t wait to make more of these for the charity. I can imagine people stuck in bed needing to have warm feet. Again, this is done on the blue, 24-peg Knifty Knitter loom with (I think) homespun. It had to be a cuff down as the toe-up Kitchener doesn’t work well with this yarn. The cuff is e-wrapped and folded. The rest was a combo of mostly flat-knit or u-wrap.
I still have three socks on separate looms, a hat, and about three toys in the process. So I can’t tell you what will be finished the day after tomorrow.
I wish I could tell you what the next binge is for the day after tomorrow. We seem to be at a loss since finishing Gilmore Girls. Please don’t groan. My daughter tried to get me to watch them with her when she was in high school but I was working and very busy and just couldn’t get into it. When I finally got to it I groaned. I seemed to have run out of anything interesting. Sometimes you just have to give a book or a movie a chance. After watching the first few episodes alone, my husband came in and got addicted, too.
Being able to move through the last few decades, seeing old actor ‘friends’, the music and movie references just made this so much fun. And associating it with my daughter, empty nesting and the like made it a sinus clearer! It is weird that I haven’t needed my nasal spray or anything since watching it. We watched all of it and then the Seasons In The Life. Gosh, I miss it! I may have to go back and start again!
Any suggestions for our next binge?
