Frogged

I was nearly finished but the bind off was too tight! Bah!

I saw the above on FaceBook today and giggled.

Now at 10:52PM, I have three furry people sleeping.

Like this one:

Teddy meditates after licking the gravy from his wet food. We feed these monsters so late so that they will let us sleep all night.

It just happened. That nightly ritual. “Dad” gets the cats off his lap and I start giving the cheer to Kali about what is happening in the kitchen. Some would say these guys are spoiled. I don’t know. Yes, there is half a minute that each dish is warmed in the microwave. Then “Dad” brings the dishes in our room and puts down Rosey’s first. Kali waits patiently as hers is second, Then Prince Teddy must be found and picked up and placed in front of his food.

Then the chewing and chomping and slurping begins. To the observer, everyone is in their places. Until they aren’t. Teddy finished with gravy jumps up on my bed and takes a quick bath and stares off into space. Rosey and Kali exchange bowls. Then Rosey finishes Teddy’s and Kali makes sure they are all empty. Sometimes I find the bowls in the bathroom or under the bed, they are so thorough in their nightly gnashings.

Kali then settles near me and Rosey gets back to “Dad’s” lap. The rest of the night they are quiet.

Well, one more baby hat to send to our charity:

20190705_125852

I loved the yarn. So soft. I think it is [edit: Caron Dazzle Aire]. I used the baby hat loom from KB. The pattern was simply an inch of two-by-two ribbing (2 knits, 2 purls), the rest flat knit stitch.

Beyond BBQ

While my son made meat barbeque for the other carnivores in the house, I put my vegeburger in the microwave for a minute and continued to finish this:

I’d love to give the pattern but it was kind of freestyle, wing-it hat sized for a small adult or a  large child. I did the brim in garter stitch (Knit a row, Purl a row, etc.) Then flat knit stitch a row, U-wrap a row, e-wrap a row, Purl a row and alternating the rows without paying a lot of attention. It was on the white KB loom, two strands of yarn one olive green the other striated green and beige. I miss socks! Must start a new pair soon!

Off topic: Hope your 4th was fun and safe! How many watch the movie every year? (Raising hand) Oh, and I hope all are recovered from the earthquakes today.

One-Liner Wednesday

Happy Independence Day to my USA friends! (Midnight is an hour and ten minutes away)

This is a prompt challenge by Linda  G. Hill. Thanks for the fun!

Here’s Another I Want to Make

Made (Making) Monday

I finished these cotton slippers for my friend today. Now I have to wait until payday to send them. KB His and Hers looms, followed by the how-to YouTube.

Meanwhile, I’m in the middle of making these hats:

Getting ready to holiday?

This post reminded me of a few days ago when I was packing. I love Sadje’s blogs! I still haven’t done the laundry.

Sadje/ Sadie's avatarKeep it alive

What is your least favorite part of vacations? For me it’s the packing. The unreasonable fear of leaving behind something necessary always haunts me. I usually pack too much of everything, thinking of all ” eventualities ” and end up lugging way too much luggage whenever I am traveling. I know that scramblingmy insides, by this stress of packing when going on vacation, is not only unreasonable but also avoidable the trick is obviously multifarious planning.

So keeping in light my previous experiences, and mistakes I have come up with a list!

Though I am the sort of person who often forgets the list altogether, I do try to keep myself focused and follow my packing list.

The most important thing to carry, I think for people of my age are the meds. One cannot just buy them anywhere with ease if you forget them at home. So…

The Good News and Bad News Part 2

Under sepia skies, I bade a tearful goodbye to my friend. It was a nice long visit, though never long enough, you know? The good news was we didn’t get hit by lightning that was horribly close. We were dry, though the rain was torrential. By the time the storm was going strong, she was in a motel down the street to make an early departure the next day. We were back into our house and into our normal day by day lives.

The whole journey started out right. We got to Bend to be ready for my husband’s operation. His part was followed through perfectly. His ride came through the middle of the night. He even got the numbing shots and was ready for surgery.

I woke early as I knew his actual operation was to start at 7. I texted him to see how he was. He called me with the voice of depression. “Bad news,” he said.

Anyone who has ever had a person start a conversation that in a sad quiet voice knows the extreme levels the imagination goes to. Well, that he was talking meant he wasn’t dead. But did they chop off his arm? What happened?

The cadaver bone didn’t get delivered. (That very sentence makes one see the good news and bad news, ya know?) That was how they were going to fix his shoulder. Surgery was canceled. Could we come and get him and take him home?

My friend had a motel room for two days. Though it was to help me and my husband, it was part of a very expensive vacation for her. If she tried to get out of the second day, she’d have to pay for it anyway. She was thinking we could take him home then come back and spend the second night. That trip is an hour and a half. The math of that trip would have been three hours to spend a night then the ninety minutes back down to our house again. That is a lot of driving!

The plus side, and possibly our selling point for staying, was how insanely comfortable the beds were. I got my own little room and for the first time in ages, I slept a whole night without getting up every hour! My friend says hers was the same.

As it turned out C found that his ride hadn’t left town so he got a ride back home where he could catch up on sleep and we got to stay that last night. Woohoo!

Both of us have health issues that make true tourism next to impossible, but we got to run some errands and just hang out.

Most importantly, we were able to find a microwave to replace the broken one at home. I knew we’d be welcomed home with that achieved.

Yeah, not that one. That’s a Pixabay picture.

So anyway, though things are back to normal for now. Hubs has to be back middle of next month to try the surgery again. This time my friend can’t come and help me. But I suspect that as summer proceeds I will be feeling less pain and be more ready to make the drives myself. The warmth of summer always helps me.

I missed all of you and will have to take a few days to catch up on all your blogs. Hope you’re having a great summer so far! S’up?!
