I didn’t realize it was Wednesday until I had already put the below in this blog.

It is my immense pleasure to introduce this installment of Leprechauns to our most esteemed instructor of life and saving our sweet Ireland, Dusty Love, whose very name explains her nurturing and care. Many of you remember her insistence that we listen and in our ignorance didn’t. Many more remember how she was able to heal illness, intensifying our most important creed to safety to all in this institution. And how incongruously she…”

Suddenly a small female dressed in an ivory colored gown, looking every inch the monarch, held up an ice cream cone and invited all to the cafeteria for the most important party of the decade. Dusty had never seen leprechauns move so fast as when food was announced. She had to hide her giggles. As in the last time she visited these delightful people, she shrank to their height and was immediately immersed in the ice cream social. Dusty made inquiries as to the health and well-being of her friends since she’d seen them last.

It was then that she told them of the item that drew her here. She was the instrument of high importance. Haven was in dire need. Did she have their assurance that they could help?

Now she was surrounded by tiny dragons and fairies. “See we learned to do this, too! Of course we can ensure all of our aid to our Dusty and to Haven. We are so grateful for all you’ve done for us. Just let us know what you would have us do.”

Then Dusty remembered how the small could get in where the larger wouldn’t fit. So she welcomed them and told them she was off to visit others who might be able to help. “I love you all and will call to you when I can pull everyone together. Meanwhile, ground yourselves and listen for Mother Earth’s instructions.”

The above was written a couple of days ago. Seems I am ahead of the game on one level! But just because we get Sundays off for A2Z doesn’t mean I don’t need 1,666 words a day for my CampNaNo goal of 50K. Just FYI I have 15,628. By the end of the day, I should have 16,660 words. So I still need over a thousand words before midnight tonight.

One-Liner Wednesdays are Linda G. Hill’s challenge click here. To learn about the A-to-Z Challenge click here. For NaNoWriMo or CampNaNo click the hyperlink of each word.

How are you all doing on your own challenges?

Healing hill. That’s what they’re callin’ it.” A voice in her head was telling her. She looked around her and knew this was her first dream ever. This was the hill she happened upon when she landed on Xeno. The woman who was talking looked every bit the housewife she’d seen illustrated in the magazines the humans brought from Earth. But she seemed a part of a herd of humans and other beasts. They just roamed the hillside, eating grass or conversing in little cliques. This particular woman held a hen in her arms and stroked it like it was a kitten. “If you are here, you might be hurt or handicapped in some way. There used to be a hospital for people like us, but the government said it did more harm than good. The fact that the government was harmful enough without trying to kill those of us who had problems.”

“So I’m still on Xeno? What’s your name?”

“Yes, still here. Isn’t it a shame that even in your dreams you can’t leave. Oh, they call me Henrietta, because…” She held up her hen. “She came up to me one night and just stayed. guess life is hard even for her kind here.”

At that moment they heard a horn. “Oh, that’s the gathering horn. We have to gather up and be counted. We used to try and hide during these counts. But those that didn’t show up, when found were treated with a heavy hand. They would be beaten hard. Many didn’t make it out alive. This life isn’t the holiday it appears to be. Our bones pave the highway back to that hellhole George Goodman created.”

As they gathered, Ora was torn. She wanted to hide but how would being dead help her and this planet or Haven? They heard a buzzing. It looked like a toy helicopter hovering above. Then it flew away.

“That was them counting us. That thing has a camera.” Henrietta explained. Ora was going to ask a question when she heard a noise that didn’t fit the scene. It sounded like someone knocking. That’s when she woke up.

That was the first scene I wrote yesterday. I thought the A2Z was a daily thing, but I learned that we get Sundays off. The good of that is I’m a day ahead in the A2zs.

BUT, the problem for me is that CampNaNo takes no days off without getting behind in the count. If you don’t write at least 1,666 words a day you will find it hard to catch up. I know people that seem to be able to do the catching up easily. But for me, it is pure torture. Even today, I’m having trouble with the next part of the story because I’ve forgotten much of what this section is based on in my book, Earth the Final Frontier. I’m making a lot of callbacks to the friends I created. I wrote it five or six years ago. But I forgot who knows and who isn’t there. So I better get back to re-reading and furious writing. Ahead, yet behind. Sounds like a timey-wimey thing to me. By the way, at my latest count, I have 13,691. Today I should end on 14.994 but I will try to push to 15,000. And I need to do my languages on Duolingo. Grabbing my coat and hat, see ya later!

Guess we need to gather our guest some grub!”

Milo and Zella took Ora to meet the new administrator the next day. That was how he met her at his door. His greeting was pleasant enough. He made the grand gourmet gesture but the gloom in his eyes as he glared from Milo to Zella proved he still held a grudge against the ones he thought to cause the uprising.

A guard stood nearby with a gun in his gloved hand. The two had gotten his goat more than a few times since. They could see him grind his teeth. His goal seemed apparent that he would prefer the death of these two. Yet he seemed to like the new person they had brought him.

In general, he thought of himself as a good person. He had nothing to gain by killing anyone. But he’d grown up here. He was genetically guaranteed to inherit this position. And wasn’t that what this whole experiment was all about? The best, most pure humans. Not gutter rats like these and their crazy offspring. They should all be sent out to graze in the meadows like the other beasts.

Ora was glad that she wasn’t in the gown she wore to Xeno. At least right now this guy was treating her with some sort of respect. But she saw how he looked at Milo and Zella. She heard the hate for Daniel. Why hadn’t their first try to educate this world worked? But the silence was a clue that she should speak. “Thank you, Mr. Administrator, sir. The meal looks delicious!”

“You may call me George. George Goodman. And it is customary to meet our new members with sustenance. We know that many have been scattered out through the wilderness and need food before they could possibly be the useful citizen needed in this society.

Those were the first few paragraphs in today’s CampNaNo writing. As my plan to follow as best I can the A-to-Z blogging and try for 50,000 words during the month of April. At last count, I have 10,343 I need 11,662 before the end of the day. Sometimes I cheat and include blogs and reviews and journals to pad the count. Often those things help and I can move them into parts of yWriter that don’t end in the count as soon as I have more story words. I don’t really consider it cheating as the point of this is the writing and writing as fast as you can without editing at the moment. You can go back and take care of big obvious spelling or grammar (will that count as a G word?) errors but it is best to lock the editor in a cell and at the end of the month or even later let him out for good. This month the story made me join the Camp folks and it promised it had the words. So as the gullible ghostwriter for Haven‘s newest story (Haven in 3D–not available yet) I relinquish control and just type. (Seems once I get started I can’t stop on some letters. Not looking forward to X).

If any of this sounds like fun for you, any of the underlined weblinks or even the pictures will take you to the places to get started. Now back to writing furiously!

Today’s letter in the A-to-Z Challenge is F and the prompt for Stream of Consciousness is the word Fab used as part of a word or alone. Since I don’t see Fab as part of my story I’m writing, I’ll just stream a bit about how fabulous it has been to visit with my daughter and son today. They took off work yesterday, drove half the trip and stayed at a motel. They got here this morning It was windy which made getting out and enjoying the day outside nearly impossible. But Kali’s mommy took her out for a jog anyway. Kali was so happy and now is exhausted. By the way, my daughter was silly and wrote “Dorg” on the picture. LOL! We get to have breakfast with them before they take that long trip home. I’m so glad they got to come even for a short visit.

Meanwhile below is the first couple paragraphs I wrote in my CampNaNo project. Again, I went to a random word generator and picked up 20. But in the writing, I think I added more. Again, I know that this may sound confusing, like coming into a conversation not knowing much of anything. I just want to prove my combination of A2Z and CampNaNo. This book seems to be pulling from all the books about Haven I’ve done so far.

Finally after eating Dusty remembered. “I forgot to tell you that the spin and orbit of Haven have changed. We think that may be one factor why everything isn’t functioning at full force.” She glanced at the end of the table and noticed that Henry (Judy’s husband) seemed to have his head in the bowl.

When he noticed everyone staring he wiped his face and smiled. “This soup is so full of flavor!”

Robert (Anna’s husband) and Adam (Beth’s husband) laughed. “I don’t know how you stay so thin! You are eating all the time!” Robert said. “I have to watch my girlish figure!” Again the three laughed. They had been friends from the very beginning. They were half of the original six. Robert had known Anna back on Earth and they reconnected quickly. Henry, Anna’s brother, connected with Judy. Judy was the botanist and zoologist, a very serious scientist. Henry was funny. Smart and interested in everything, but funny. Judy needed that. The six were as faithful to their spouses as they were to each other. They all pursued their own intellectual passions so that when they were with their mates their time was fresh, new, exciting. They were family. There were no favorites, they worked to keep it fair.

Dusty held up her finger and the group quieted. They knew they had work to do. They just needed to figure it out. One thing was for sure, they weren’t going to leave it to fate. Still, as they sat there in human form, they realized that without being enhanced by Haven, by gene-poppers this would be a useless cause. One they would be sure to fail. They knew the first thing to do. They gathered out on the grass and held hands. There was a fraction of a second they thought they hadn’t factored in how different Earth was from Haven. But that thought didn’t last long. Suddenly there was the sound of a full freight train moving through. The temperature rose to the point they each thought they had a fever. Then they heard the voice. Dusty, Jade, and Mary had heard it in the cavern on Haven, Earth was speaking to them. Dusty indicated that they all change form, to dragon-up. They all knew that they would hear and understand Earth better telepathically as dragons.

Lots more to write before I sleep. Hope you had a great Saturday, full of fab fun!

A2Z CampNaNo E 20190405

Wow! Just Wow! I had nearly a thousand words written. E was a difficult prompt. Again I used a random generator and grabbed twenty E-words. When I had a few paragraphs ready to move over here I selected and control V-ed instead of control-C. All gone! I was pretty proud of it. But no one will ever see that version. So again I have over a thousand words, I still need the 600 but thought I’d take a break and post my first half of the scene. Sorry if it is confusing. I’ve been with these planets and characters since 2001. I think they cover about fourteen books. A lot has been reviewed in scenes or paragraphs I’m not sharing here. I am merely sharing the parts that show I am doing the A-to-Z challenge in my own way.

Haven in 3D

Earth heard the dragons and High Council. She knew Haven was In trouble. Way back when Earth was in her emergency, Haven imparted knowledge, wisdom, and abilities that Earth didn’t have or she wasn’t aware of before. At first, when she tried to contact the councils her sound echoed through the cavern. Once the communication was established she was able to impart her willingness to be of aid any way she could. She wasn’t as experienced as Haven, Earth felt like an embryo in comparison, still, she felt that in the end, she could be effective on many levels.

Enelrad endorsed Earth. She’d been a part of the project to save Earth. She had even helped repair damages Earth had sustained. Maybe Earth could be of service to the hatred emboxed, ethically-strained-Xeno. The dragon felt she could ensure that Earth could meet any expectations a planet could need. Still, Enelrad was wondering if she had been in the right to tell anyone, even her mate, Sirhc. She hoped all of this wasn’t in error.
Everyone agreed to lend their help in any way they could. Suddenly someone said, What was that?

They all stood still and the earth beneath them shook as they hear a loud explosion. In one blink the dragons had exited the cave and headed east. They gathered at the elbow in the path that led up the mountain that Beth, Judy, and Anna used to hike. Only it wasn’t there anymore. It was as if the top of the mountain had been sliced off. Instead, ash was spewing. A Volcano! In a few minutes, the dragons and the mountainside were covered in what looked like a winter’s storm’s worth of snow.

I will have company this weekend, my daughter and son!!!! YAY!!! I need to get back to writing and get in as many words as I can before sleep takes me over. See you tomorrow!

“Carefully, Beth cracked open the door checking for children who might be cowering nearby.”

How’s that! Bam! Covered it all! (See what I did there? Leftover B with current C.) The above is the first line I wrote today. One-Liner Wednesday is one of Linda G. Hill’s gems.

A-to-Z April Challenge starts out here. Today’s letter, if you hadn’t guess by now is:

CampNaNo can be found here. I’ve only added 14 words today making my total 4,017. I’m writing a novel called Haven in 3-D. This the cover for now:

It is in my series that starts with Haven my first novel doing NaNoWriMo. I’m mostly using yWriter to get me going. Enough commercials?

How’s your day? I better get busy lots of errands before I can write!

A2Z CampNaNo April 1st 2019

Alone

Here are a few lines of the 2,281 words I manage today.

___________

“Alone. No one is alone on this planet. Anyone alone is different. We must try to help her.”

The invisible voice changes.

“She doesn’t seem to be looking anywhere. She doesn’t seem to be moving. How can anyone stand that still?”

A woman is standing looking back over a hill, dressed in a long white dress with green trim, a straw hat with a pink ribbon around the brim, dark brown hair pinned up and peaking out under the hat. She stands right arm facing the observers, left arm crooked on the other side.

“What do you think she’s holding in her right arm?”

I did make the commitment to doing 50,000 words this month in CampNaNo. I have to admit that it is going very well. The story is telling itself. The planet Haven is finding hard to be human. A lot of her power is gone. At the same time, she is learning humility. Ever tried to get into a planet’s mind? Not so easy!

Wow! It is Saturday again, so soon!

Per Linda G. Hill:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “dough/d’oh.” Use one, use both, use ’em any way you like. Enjoy!

I choose D’oh! I would use a picture of drooling Homer Simpson here but figure that has to be a copyright infringement.

I was not only surprised at the sudden appearance of Saturday but of the sudden appearance of April and that means:

No. Not NaNoWriMo. But CampNaNo. (Couldn’t find an icon for that). And that sudden realization put me in a rush to get ready. After a day of reinstalling WriteItNow.

And setting up for choosing characters and a place to figure out plots, etc.

And because I can’t seem to put my own pictures in I made sure to install the latest version of yWriter, where I usually do my writing.

After watching OA I was inspired that they could actually keep writing on that show through infinity as there are that many possible dimensions. Then I remembered that postcard my friend sent:

I felt there was a story there. But I didn’t feel like writing historical fiction of the Little House on the Prairie has already been done.

Then suddenly the picture and OA crashed in my head and I think I have a synopsis. As I wrote in the CampNaNo info:

Haven the sentient planet has learned to travel to other worlds, times, and dimensions while maintaining Her own world. What does She look like? What could possibly happen to this unearthly body?

Haven hasn’t talked to me lately but this looks like fun and a lot of potential problems to work out.

OH but then I realized that this is:

So I challenge myself to somehow do both. Maybe what I blog for A2Z will show up in the story or vice versa.

Do you think I will ever get these novels out there and make some dough?

(Did you see what I did there?)

Zero

I can’t believe that I actually made it to the end of the alphabet! Especially since I did it illegally (I never signed up here: A to Z Challenge ) and I was rarely on track. But all letters were used even if not so creatively. I even got kicked out of Linda G. Hill’s cell I think thanks to John Holton. It has been fun, and best of all it kept me blogging through the month.

Isn’t it nice to tick things off the list, finish something? This month I can say I have hit the blast-off zero on several levels. Tomorrow I will have finished my first full edit of my first book. There is still a lot of rewriting that needs to be done, but at least it isn’t as lame as it would have been previously. This I was encouraged by CampNaNo. I had set my goal to edit two hours a day with a total of 60 hours. I didn’t know it would take less than that to get through the whole book and I have two chapters to go through tomorrow. Woo-hoo!

As soon as I’ve finished writing this blog I will post my newest color escape. Boom!

The feeling of accomplishment is swelling my chest!

Oh, and I finally got to watch Hidden Figures which is why I chose the above picture and didn’t go with Zombies for the final Z.

Silence

It has been a long time since I actually wrote more than a few words over here. Let’s see if I can catch you all up to date.

No, I didn’t finish  Camp NaNo. I got to about halfway and ran out of juice? Fibro-flare? Life? happened. I can’t remember two minutes ago, so remembering that long ago is foggy. I still like my plot potential but haven’t been able to get back into it. Time travel has to be well thought out. Since this one is different than any I have ever read, I don’t want it to be NaNo-ed together. I need to step back and make a tight outline. Will it be this year’s NaNo? I haven’t decided. Nor have I decided if I want to write a NaNo this year. If I can get a tight enough outline before Halloween, I might just try to add another 50K to this 25K story. Who knows?

I have spoken about my new medicine, Gubabapentin (Neurontin), that may be helping me have a few good days now. Yes, a few. As of two week ends I could count 3 good days. On these days I felt pain in joints but not the all over pain and fatigue I have gotten used to. The doctor said it takes a while to titrate to the proper dosage that will be better for me.

Which brings me to just over a week ago.  Two  Wednesdays ago, a friend called saying she wanted me to accompany her to the GeoCaching Con in Las Vegas. At that time it seemed that it would take a perfect storm to actually pull it off. She was being gifted the trip, basically, even down to car and hotel room. Even that day (Wednesday), I felt horrible with fibro so I was afraid to think of the week end.

As it turned out, my hubby was able to help me pack, and I was able to go. I figured that even with pain I wouldn’t be doing more than I do here at home. I didn’t feel well enough to trust myself to help with the driving, but we were able to stop at rest stops along the way and even pick up a couple caches. So I was sitting in a car or in a hotel room. I still had fibro-pain, worse coming home than on the trip down but the sites I saw from where I was sitting was at least different than the four walls I see here. The bad thing? A flare I felt on the trip back got worse the whole next week. I am thinking I am better, finally, today. Hence a real blog.  🙂
