A little snow yesterday. -1 last night. We still had snowy patches today. Too cold. Tomorrow windy. And too cold. If you’re not going to be a pretty winter let’s get on with spring! I’m tired of being cold.

Meanwhile, I stay occupied.

This was where I was on Wednesday.

I decided to try the ruler.

Game changer! The symbols are easier to see and drills go on straight. It is fun as you hear a little click as the drill clears the ruler and sticks to the canvas. You can see the difference. The top of the picture I did freehand. The bottom, I used the ruler.

Because I don’t have to strain my eyes or back using the ruler, I got a lot more done.

I’m so jazzed I can’t wait to Diamond Paint tomorrow!

Just a word about the sunset beach. My brother helped me learn a way to mix colors to get the perfect frame. Problem was I ran out of the mix. The second try just didn’t match. I was told to add water and it got runny. So I let it dry. I’ll attack tomorrow. Finished Friday will have at least one item!

Progress

Another layer of Mod Podge. Tomorrow I’ll paint a frame. I had a moment of panic when the cardboard I had for drying the project fell on the floor, the painting wet. I was sure it landed wet side down. Whew! Not the case!

I was so excited to get started I forgot to take a pic of the beginning dot. I learned from YouTube tutorials and Facebook groups that when you have a large area of one color, you should checkerboard the dots. I began doing that. I found it fun and lined up the drills better than popping them in a straight line. And even more addictive. I almost got up to go work on editing. But found myself adding more and more, even when my back growled. I got up and stretched and bent then sat back down and did more dotting.

Look at that top right corner. Ha! Lots of fun!
So I got some fun little helpers today from Amazon. That pink thing with black brushes is a little vacuum cleaner to pick up the drills that stray or fall. It came with a collapsing funnel to move the drills from tray to containers. Those fancy metal things? Rulers to help place drills on the picture. They came with two straighter tools I’ll be sending to friends. I’ll let you know how well these work Thursday.

Now I need to write/rewrite/edit.

So this is the before picture. I decided to try something new. I have all those pens and markers. So I didn’t do the crayons and pencils this time. I like that it works up faster but I miss the crayon smell and the ability to shadow or highlight.  And I think I see more stroke marks. Bleh! Oh, well, lesson learned and a hot day spent relaxing.

Maybe from an airplane, it looks good. Lessons learned.

Here’s the picture for next time:

So that is my submission of the July Escapist Coloring Club. Thank you, Linda, for a fun prompt.

Escapist Coloring

I thought I already did a coloring for this month. But I don’t see it reflected on the coloring page so here goes another. Here is the picture before:

And here’s the finished product. I do love coloring. I’m always surprised at how much fun I have while doing it. I need to make it a habit!

Thank you, Linda G. Hill for the Escapist Coloring Club!

Happy Coloring Time Everyone!

This is the before.

The is after the fun.

I did this at the beginning of last month. I know I am going to spend some time tomorrow on another. I suddenly miss coloring, especially after all the moving stuff and knowing it still isn’t over. One afternoon should bring me back to zen.

Check out the others coloring with us at Linda G. Hill’s site. Join the fun of escaping!

Dragon Makes New FRIENDS
Dragon Makes New FRIENDS by Michael Yu
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Every now and then I need a break from being an adult reader. Most of the time I read Young Adult because I can fill in the holes of enjoyable reading that wasn’t there when I was a YA. But who can resist an illustrated book about friendly dragons?

My older Kindles are usually my go-to reads as they have text-to-speech and adjustable fonts for my visual needs. These old Kindles do not do justice to picture books. Tablets and the Fire are best for children’s books with colorful pictures. And the illustrations in Dragon Makes New Friends are fun. I did wonder how a child cut the apple in half, and how the boy had two feet, but one leg seemed broken(?). Maybe a child wouldn’t notice these things. They were just things that stopped me.

The little story was in poetry form that sound out well in my head most of the time. Then there was the word that represented the sound of a limb getting ready to break. Hopefully, this is an easy fix, how about ‘creak’ instead of ‘creek’? Even still, this was a delightful story with fun pictures. And the message that we can be friends with others who are not like us, is one all ages of people should learn.
