Here’s the thing. I’m using the leftover yarn from making my brother’s socks to make ankle or short socks. Today, except for the sewing bits I finished my first short sock. Hope I have enough to make the next sock This one is comfy so I think it will be fun to wear these. I rarely make something for me. Mostly because I don’t need that much and I love that I can make things for other people who need them.  But these are for me–if there is enough yarn.

Sock #1

I know it looks funny with the strings and toes showing but it got too dark for sewing and I needed something to blog about today. So Bo–  only half done so can’t add the om!

Oh for those who might want patterns or help here is the one I kind of followed:

To celebrate I finished two hats! Neither are for snakes or cats. Nor are they green. But here they are. The baby one is waiting for the matching toy. Both are heading for charities.

This was a larger adult version (KB Loom) of the past one using the ‘homespun’ type yarn. It is so soft. I still have a little more of this yarn that I will use for a baby hat. Again this is the fold up brim to keep the ears warmer. It is all the flat knit stitch. That is until the decreasing part that I was trying to adapt GoodKnitKisses type of hat closure. I put the YouTube at the bottom of the page. I don’t have the adjustable loom so I modified with loose e-wraps as I decreased and only did a couple true decreases before just closing with the usual one strand closing I usually use. See the loomahat.com YouTube after the GKK one.

Here’s the baby one I finished today:

So tiny! Not as soft as the above adult hat. But love the self-striping. This was on the baby KB loom. Two by two knit purl brim. Flat knit stitch. Then used the LoomaHat closing below.

I’m sorry to have to combine days but, well, life, ya know?

First, I was busy making these while binge-watching shows on television.

A friend’s daughter had a baby boy. By the way, the snowman is for the big sister. The octopus is my own creation. The hat and booties are the patterns from the KB Baby Looms.

The snowman is from Scarlett Royal.

Then I got busy thinking that working my 10-stitch afghan to keep warm while in my living room. But it had been nearly a year since I worked on it and I couldn’t get it to work right. I’d forgotten how I was working it. It was lap-size that that point. I was really unhappy with it all so I frogged it. The whole thing. It took most of the day. (Frogged=unraveled=ripped. Sounds like ribbit, get it?) I kind of like doing that as I know I will have more yarn. I like the sound of the ripping. But then I make yarn cakes with my  Yarn Winder.

I don’t often make that many cakes in a day. I couldn’t sleep last night for the pain in my winding arm. I still didn’t finish until mid-day today. Then I started my new 10-Stitch using Kristen Mangus’s pattern. I’ve made about five inches now, Can’t wait until it can keep me warm again.

Meanwhile, there was no need for companionship as this one is always within my reach, like now.

Isn’t that one of the sweetest faces around? And she understands a lot more than a lot of people!
