Far From Finished Friday

As I look around I have so many projects and all of them far from finished. The items I am most drawn to is a mixed up crazy pair of slipper socks. I have finished the toe and plan to match the heels and possibly the cuff in the pink. The rest will be stray yarn around here. I think they will be fun warmth for the charity. And it uses up the leftovers.

Since I want to get busy and see how I like the new color combo before fading away to bed, I’ll just post the picture and scram. Happy Friday everyone!

Sunday Slippers Almost

Tomorrow I will finish the cuffs and put these on my feet. It’s been a bit of a slog while trying to learn to make socks on cable needles and working 7 other pairs of socks on other looms. My hands need the variations to keep from hurting. Otherwise, I might try to stay with just one project until finished. But when one project starts hurting, I put it down and grab another. Progress always happening, just not as fast on any one item as I would like.

Just Jot It January–Shutter

I don’t know how to use the word ‘shutter’ in this sense as I know nothing about photography. But I did take a cell pic of my finished slipper socks. And John Holton, tell Mary one cuff is bigger. But hey, they are for me! Gift yarn = gift for me!

Just Jot It January is brought to us by Linda G. Hill.

Two Pair Tuesday

I have had the pleasure of having company this last week. It was a bittersweet occasion as my friend stayed here between trips to her aunt’s funeral and back home. But I was glad for her company, even if we had to be masked nearly the whole time.

While we visited I worked on a pair of slipper socks for her.

I liked them so much that I decided to make a pair for myself. Then towards the end, the cuff, I ran out of this fun purple and pink. But I had a lot of purple yarn that I don’t feel too off.

I think it looks better in real life. Besides, these are for schlepping around the house as the cooler weather comes in.

Oh, and this is how I did it. The blue Knifty Knitter (24 pegs) wide gauge. I used the Kitchener cast on, flat knit for most. German short-row for the heel. At the ankle, I made up a combo of one row e-wrap, one row u-wrap, one row flat wrap. That was to make the ankle a little looser. Then it was two-by-two e-wrap, purl cuff. These slippers became so fast for me that I could do one a day. The first one was slow as I figure it out. Wish I could do socks that quickly.

So now on to a hat and six other socks. They are fine gauged and lots slower. By the way, I’m feeling so much better!

Per Linda:

Your prompt for #JusJoJan and Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “movie title.” Take the title of the last movie you watched (just the title, not the premise of the movie), and base your post on that title. Have fun!

So Saturdays we often watch disaster movies when we are tired of watching shows about animals and veterinarians.  If we aren’t in the middle of a binge. Today’s movie was Day After Tomorrow. It is a fun go-to for us if we are both busy writing or knitting or reading.

The day after tomorrow is Monday. Cloudy, cold. But the day after that may have snow. I hope the snow we have right now isn’t gone so that soon the world will be as white as the world in the movie. No, I don’t want it that cold. I certainly don’t want to have to move to South America to get warm.

I promised that the second slipper sock would be done by today and: Ta DA!

I can’t wait to make more of these for the charity. I can imagine people stuck in bed needing to have warm feet. Again, this is done on the blue, 24-peg Knifty Knitter loom with (I think) homespun. It had to be a cuff down as the toe-up Kitchener doesn’t work well with this yarn. The cuff is e-wrapped and folded. The rest was a combo of mostly flat-knit or u-wrap.

I still have three socks on separate looms, a hat, and about three toys in the process. So I can’t tell you what will be finished the day after tomorrow.

I wish I could tell you what the next binge is for the day after tomorrow. We seem to be at a loss since finishing Gilmore Girls. Please don’t groan. My daughter tried to get me to watch them with her when she was in high school but I was working and very busy and just couldn’t get into it. When I finally got to it I groaned. I seemed to have run out of anything interesting. Sometimes you just have to give a book or a movie a chance. After watching the first few episodes alone, my husband came in and got addicted, too.

Being able to move through the last few decades, seeing old actor ‘friends’, the music and movie references just made this so much fun. And associating it with my daughter, empty nesting and the like made it a sinus clearer! It is weird that I haven’t needed my nasal spray or anything since watching it. We watched all of it and then the Seasons In The Life. Gosh, I miss it! I may have to go back and start again!

Any suggestions for our next binge?
