So instead of writing here I’m knitting until I feel less angst from this nasty way of writing. And NaNo is coming so I don’t have time for this nonsense!
I’m making my pair to be convertible as I am adding a mitten cap for the cold. These will be for the charity, Hugger Hats.
I have a friend that recently started blogging but she is upset with the change. I wish I could encourage her, but I find this new way so confusing. Any suggestions for us?
Really all I can suggest is perciverence it will slip in to place. All change seems un – necessary but it’s not too difficult. Some times if you compose your posts elsewhere, in notes, documents or word then you can cut and paste them into the editor then if you need to you can fine tune them. Don’t give up we would miss you.💜
Thank you. 💜😊 That is sweet and welcome advice.
I feel with you. I always switch to the classic editor.
Up until a couple days ago, I did feel I had that option. But lately I didn’t know how to find the option again. I’m going to see if I can find the option from another angle. I’m finding our fellow bloggers have found a lot of answers. What a wonderful community to belong to!😊
You can insert a block called „classic editor“ and work within that. That’s what I do.
Where do I find that insert? Thank you for the suggestion. 😊
I got carried away and forgot to say I love those gloves 😁💜
Thank you. Those are Scarlett Royal’s. I’m following the tutorial. We’ll see if mine turn out that way. 😏
Nothing helpful forthcoming, Dars… I am becoming the queen of compromise, just learning (tolerating!) enough to get by and hoping for a miracle. I could give up and walk away, but that’s not really an option as I love the rest of my workload!
Yeah, that was my feelings. If my friend, newish here on WP hadn’t felt so despondent about the block, I might have ignored the issues. But I have found if I ask, bloggy friends are there with support and answers. I love you all!💜
Yes, this is a wonderful club we all belong to…

Thank you for sharing. 😊
I can’t remember what it’s called…so I checked. Look for the “Classic” block type when you add a block and it’s like the old WP. If you don’t want even that much of a change, I believe there is a classic block plugin that reverts the editor.
I’ve struggled with the block editor a bit, but ultimately I find it does what I need it to do and I have to write less code, all of which now requires research every time :p.
Part of the trick for me is that I write in Notepad++, basically an enhanced text editor, since I’ve had too many losses when the websites hiccup. I know the browsers protect against that now, but old habits and all. As long as you put a consistent one or two returns between your paragraphs, and put things like video URLs on a separate line by themselves, you copy then paste the whole thing under the title, and WordPress does the rest (converting it to paragraphs and videos and probably images, though I add those in a second step because text editor doesn’t support them.
Your format is similar to my smiles, so you might try that.
Thank you, Margaret. That helps a lot! I will be playing with some of these suggestions over the next few days. 💜 By the way, I love your Smiles pages!
Thanks. I try to find something fun…and it’s an easier post than the essay ones :). I can’t imagine posting daily like you do.
I try to post everyday just to stay in practice. It is not as professional as your blog but I find I need the discipline of the daily check in. Unfortunately I missed a few days and now need to get back at it before adding the NaNo to the routine.
I don’t like it either, but have managed to do a little. Here’s a tip another blogger told me about. If you haven’t tried it yet, it seems to work.
When you go to ‘posts’ and the add new – only click on the little arrow beside that – not the add new words. It will give you a choice of block or classic editor.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I was hoping someone would have answers for me! I can’t wait to try it! 🤗
Remember: just because they give you over a hundred blocks to work with doesn’t mean you have to use all of them. From what I see here, you need a text block, an image block, and a video embed block. That might be all you need.
I didn’t use blocks. And so far I don’t know what it looks like to others. I’ll look at it tomorrow when I look on my laptop. I’ll get it. Soon, I hope. I wish my learning curve didn’t have to take place with so many distractions, like NaNo prep, etc. Thanks for the encouragement. 😊
