I’m so stoked to finally develop calluses on my fingers. I am beginning to learn a few chords on my ukulele. My first couple of songs use the F and the C7 (Mary Had a Little Lamb), and the C gives us Row, Row Row! And though the fretting fingers still hurt a little, I am hearing purer chords.
This little uke was $10 at a BiMart in La Pine. It seems to hold its tune nicely for something so inexpensive. If I can get to changing chords quickly, I may invest in a more expensive ukulele. It is fun to learn new things. And hopefully, it will help my brain to stay healthy.

And I’m stoked that I finally know an F from an F# on this recorder. I am such a newbie on both of these instruments I feel I might never play nicely, but I am making myself happy with each little improvement.

I am soooo stoked that you are stoked 💜💜💜
LOL!💜💜💜💜💜
Awesome 👏🏼
Thanks!🙏👍❤️
You’re welcome 💖
Good for you! Those calluses make all the difference, don’t they?
I can’t answer to that quite yet. Still building, but even the couple chords I can play are getting easier.👍😎
You’ll see. Stevie Ray Vaughn would super glue his callouses on if they fell off!! Don’t you be doing that! 🤣
I asked in the FB page about buying the finger protectors but everyone said the calluses were worth it. We’ll see! 😂
I love the way the ukulele šounds, but àrent the strings further away from the fret than a guitar’s strings are? That would make it harder to press down.
Maybe I should get one ànd learn along with you!
It would be fun to have a uke friend. I don’t think they are harder to press. I had a guitar and gave up in my more resilient teens. Learning to keep my nails on the fret hand close cut may be the hardest. I’ve always kept a nice length on nails. But now the length on the right hand stays nice as that’s the strumming hand. Join me.
I wonder how much her Enya uke cost her! That is a pretty one!
I wondered that, too. Check out some of the uke groups on FB. They have some awesome instruments! I’d love to hear Enya play a ukulele. I have some piano sheet music. It was fun to learn.
Ooh, I just looked on Amazon and there are many beginner soprano ukes for as low as $20!
Make sure to read the comments. When I first started searching I found a lot that would fall apart according to other purchasers. Funny, though, I bought this one without all that. But Memorex and $10 made me foolish.I was lucky it is fairly good. It holds it’s tune quite well.
I’d be stoked too if I was getting good at learning to play the instruments! The video lady, she seems to be a good teacher, showing how to do the chords. 🙂
She is a smart teacher and catchers early habits before the start. I love your comment. Stoked at learning to play. I doubt I’ll ever be concert level. Never got there with piano. Feel competent with voice. But my aim is having fun and learning.
🙂 I’m glad you found her videos to watch & learn. I played violin for years, all through school years, so thought guitar would be easy. I bought a kid sized guitar, but can’t seem to learn thing on it. 🙂
I tried to learn violin. I’d like to try again. I found guitar hurt my fingers a lot. I don’t remember violin hurting but I didn’t have the time to devote to learning. I did learn Twinkle, Twinkle. I’d love to try again.
