I’m sorry to have to combine days but, well, life, ya know?

First, I was busy making these while binge-watching shows on television.

A friend’s daughter had a baby boy. By the way, the snowman is for the big sister. The octopus is my own creation. The hat and booties are the patterns from the KB Baby Looms.

The snowman is from Scarlett Royal.

Then I got busy thinking that working my 10-stitch afghan to keep warm while in my living room. But it had been nearly a year since I worked on it and I couldn’t get it to work right. I’d forgotten how I was working it. It was lap-size that that point. I was really unhappy with it all so I frogged it. The whole thing. It took most of the day. (Frogged=unraveled=ripped. Sounds like ribbit, get it?) I kind of like doing that as I know I will have more yarn. I like the sound of the ripping. But then I make yarn cakes with my  Yarn Winder.

I don’t often make that many cakes in a day. I couldn’t sleep last night for the pain in my winding arm. I still didn’t finish until mid-day today. Then I started my new 10-Stitch using Kristen Mangus’s pattern. I’ve made about five inches now, Can’t wait until it can keep me warm again.

Meanwhile, there was no need for companionship as this one is always within my reach, like now.

Isn’t that one of the sweetest faces around? And she understands a lot more than a lot of people!

1-Liner A-Z Plus!

Sorry. Thanks! Understand? Verbose?

 One-Liner Wednesday meets A to Z Challenge.

Okay, to explain the above line. Sorry it has been so long since I wrote here on the A to Z or otherwise.  After the long trip to town and back last week my back decided it hated me. I couldn’t find a comfortable place to type. I’m feeling a bit better now, thanks. Not ready to run any marathons–or walk any farther than the end of the driveway. I hope you understand. I hope that wasn’t too verbose.

But today I got out to take pics of the library, the surrounding golf course, and the lake. Here ya go!

This is from the parking lot. See the wheelchair ramp! And the bike rack?

Maybe you can see it better here.

There’s a nice shady spot at the end of the building with a picnic table and a view.

Kali made sure to walk the playground and golf course with her ‘uncle’. He makes sure Kali and I get out and enjoy the world.

There is also a playground and baseball diamond in this area and the park is not far from here, so nice grassy areas to enjoy.

The lake from two different angles.

Kali is happy she got out for a while.

And she earned her ‘cookie’!

Loom Surprise

Look who just jumped off my loom!

Oh, wait, wrong picture!

Okay. Not exact. I need to work on it more, but for a first try not to bad, eh? Oh, Once again, I thank Scarlett Royal for her pattern and tutorial of making the dog.

When enjoying the craft group shortens the walk. (Too much fun and warm weather–but met a cute new puppy on the street.)

She looked like this. Kali hated her but I wanted to keep her. She followed us home but left after we went into the house to crash.

Children's book: Poochy: Adventure Rhyming Story for all dogs lovers with a surprising endChildren’s book: Poochy: Adventure Rhyming Story for all dogs lovers with a surprising end by Noa Geyer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh, how I love getting to read books like this! Thank you, Noa Geyer!

I picture every pet store, animal shelter, and other animal care facilities carrying it. Teacher and parents could have as much fun as their young students sharing this treasure. Just reading it aloud would be fun, but the pictures of this scruffy little dog and his attempts to help humans will keep conversations going about how we can help strays or our own puppies have better lives. And how they can help us.

Maybe this is a good book to read prior to getting a new pup from the animal shelter. I love that the author tried to show that the shelter was helping the dog even though the dogs looked uncomfortable in the cages. I loved how the scruffy looking dude was the one chosen by the family. Maybe showing that the cutest ones may not be the ones best for your family and the not so attractive could be smarter or more fun.

So if you are an animal lover, pick this one up. It’s only $.99 You will be as delighted with it as I was!

Help Me, Mr. Mutt!: Expert Answers for Dogs with People ProblemsHelp Me, Mr. Mutt!: Expert Answers for Dogs with People Problems by Janet Stevens

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I’ve fallen behind in my reading goal for this year so I decided to include a few picture books or other short books to catch up. Most of the books I’m reading lately are quite long. So these are a bit of a relief for my eyes and energies.

Help Me, Mr. Mutt! Jumped out at me when I visited the library last. I loved the cute dog on the cover and decided that would be a good one to try.

The idea of a dog answering letters for other dogs with people problems was delightful. I loved the sneaky letters after Mr. Mutt’s reply from Queen the cat were hilarious. I loved that Mr. Mutt was able to give charts to prove his answers (though I wonder at his fact finding abilities–seems rather fake news to me). Still, the dogs reading said letters would be grateful to see their desires as proven fact. A great introduction to charts and how they work!

And while I think this was all fun and games, I think a good pet owner would insert proper care for said pets when reading this book aloud to a child. After all, if a child were to read this to his or herself, he might think it okay to give pets people food or sugary foods, or follow other advice not so good for a dog or cat. Still, read with a sense of humor it could be a fun book for parent and child or teacher and students to share.

And did I mention the illustrations? They were awesome! Fun read!

#A TO Z Challenge–K

And of course K means:

image3

This little sweet Kali who has a visitor–her MommaLaura, my daughter! So we are both happy. Kali can’t decide who she is going to sleep with tonight. Tomorrow she get to see the vet to get updates on shots and get her nails clipped. Then we will go looking for a doggy run for her so that when days are nicer weather she can stay outside safely sometimes.

Oh. K is also for Knit.

Here is the latest hat finished.

The hat has a sun brim. Next is the sock I am STILL working on. knitting with thread on a small gauge loom takes forever! The next is another hat with the Andalusian stitch, another fine gauge that is taking forever. The doll needs a hat and a face but nearly finished.

Busy days ahead. Hope to be able to hit here. Looking forward to fun times with family and friends!

Going, Going, Gone? GNot!

20170408_094747

Kali’s first ‘outside’ of the day. Hubby took her out around 11 last night and proclaimed it was snowing. I took her an hour later and it was just wet. (We are late night people so Kali is too.) This morning at 9:30 there was snow on everything.

20170408_094740.jpg

See all the brown? Snow goes away quickly where the quail get fed. Oh, and Kali isn’t looking at the car. There is a quail still finishing up and two seconds later she is attempting flight. For walkers, quail CAN fly away quickly. Kali hasn’t quite mastered it even though her huge ears are flapping.

20170408_094723.jpg

If you can see her please give her a bit of privacy, please. I couldn’t see the screen of my phone the sun was so bright so I didn’t realize she was in the middle of the picture.

Front yard. Look at that sky!

So Father Winter isn’t quite finished with us but Spring Sun has it melted by noon. But more clouds means he’s not finished for the day. At least the temps are not so cold anymore.

#A To Z Challenge–D

Okay, Kali, the blog is yours!

You Serious? Bark, Bark, Listen up!

Wanna know my favorite place? It’s called OUTSIDE!

20170325_144723 1

Isn’t it GREAT?! I get to play out here a lot. MommaDar, Dad and Uncle David take turns making sure I’m safe out here. There are coyotes, hawks and bald eagles, they tell me so the people keep watch while I–well, you know.

The rest of my day?

20170404_115739

I play hide the toys and bones in these two beds in MommaDar’s closet, or the one in the living room near the couch. Mom says it’s very funny to watch me, but I’m a survivor, I want to make sure there’s plenty to eat should times go bad.

But my favorite place?

That’s easy:

Laying my head on MommaDar’s leg.

Guess what! This Blog is about a Dog–Me! That starts with “D”
