My favorite and most easy break-fast brunch.
Salmon sprinkled with lemon pepper, olive oil, Bragg’s vinegar, smothered in baby spinach and cheese. Love! Please tell me this is not bad for me.

Tomorrow I will finish the cuffs and put these on my feet. It’s been a bit of a slog while trying to learn to make socks on cable needles and working 7 other pairs of socks on other looms. My hands need the variations to keep from hurting. Otherwise, I might try to stay with just one project until finished. But when one project starts hurting, I put it down and grab another. Progress always happening, just not as fast on any one item as I would like.

Per Linda: Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “flag.” Use it any way you’d like. Have fun!
For quite some time, we have chosen to fly our flag as long as the weather permits. There are so many who think they are American and fly flags other than the one we have saluted since childhood. To me, it seems we need only one flag. The rest is learning to love one another as neighbors, family, and friends.

My very favorite place in the whole world is a beach. No matter the weather or the type. As long as it is the ocean. I’m not one for lakes. They are pretty. But my soul doesn’t feel that marvelous head to toe feeling I get smelling the salty breeze, feeling the squish of sand escaping under my feet with the bubbling surf suds. The sparkle of the sand in the sunshine, the change of color as clouds wander overhead. Treasure abounds with each shell or scurrying crab or bird. Farther away, seeing a whale migration or school of fish helping the magical ecology of the watery world. Ah, beach.
Just Jot It January is a prompt brought to you by Linda G. Hill.

Isn’t it the most interesting word, limp? My first thought is to the picture above. And as I look at the picture, it makes me think of last year and the beginning of this year. Slow and a struggle. Overall. But for me, retired, nothing has been too different. I have plenty of things I want to learn and do, and since I wouldn’t have had enough money to travel like I want to, I enjoy quieter pursuits.
Another look at the word makes me see that those my age are grateful to be up and walking even if the hips or other joints cause a bit of a limp. We’re just glad we aren’t down and out like a limp washrag. Who needs a picture of that? Oh, but I couldn’t resist Googling. What a surprise that what I found is a new sole-mate sock and otherwise yarning person. Check her out. What a fun vlog!
Now I have another fun YouTube to subscribe to and watch.
Now back to the socks I’m loom-knitting and needle knitting. And like poor Angela, the back is hurting, so I need to limp to take Kali outside.
We’ve had a bit of a limping snow flurry-ish today. I think the weather is getting colder again. Probably why the achiness. We are expecting snow on Sunday and then a couple more times next week. We need it. My eyes and soul love it, so I hope they are right. Some things are worth the pain, don’t you think?
Per Linda G. Hill:
1. Just Jot It January starts January 1st, but it’s never too late to join in! Here, we run on the honour system; the “jot it” part of JusJoJan means that anything you jot down, anywhere (it doesn’t have to be a post, it can even be a grocery list), counts as a “jot.” If it makes it to your blog that day, great! If it waits a week to get from a sticky note to your screen, no problem!
2. I’ll post prompts at 2am my time (GMT -5). The prompt will be the word in quotation marks in the title of my 2am post. You don’t have to follow the prompt every day, but that will be where you leave your link for others to see. You’ll get a prompt for every day except Wednesday, when the prompt is simply my One-Liner Wednesday and on Saturday, when your prompt will be the Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS, which will appear at about 9:30am Friday. Each prompt post will include the rules.
3. Please ping back or link to the daily prompt. To ping back, just copy the URL from the daily prompt post, and paste it anywhere in your post. Check to make sure your link shows up where you want it to, and go back occasionally to see other bloggers’ entries – the more you visit others, the more they’ll visit you! Note: A) The newest pingbacks will be at the top of the comments section. B) Ping backs only work if you’re blogging on WordPress. Everyone else must paste a link manually.
4. Tag your post JusJoJan and/or #JusJoJan.
5. Write anything! Any length will do! It can even be a photo or a drawing – you’re going to title it, right? There’s your jot!
6. If your post is NSFW, do not ping back. Please leave your link in the comments with a warning.
7. If you’d like to, use the JusJoJan badge so that others can find your post more easily.
8. Have fun!
So keeping it personal, not political. Potatoes were okay. I needed to use more water. Brown rice not so done as I’d like, maybe need more water. Instapot gets it done without letting out any smell of something cooking. My other pressure cooker make wonderful smells and lets me know when food is just right. So not defeated. Learning curve.
Needle knitting, barely tinked today, no frogging. Win!
If you would like to participate in this prompt, feel free to use the “One-Liner Wednesday” title in your post, and if you do, you can ping back here to help your blog get more exposure.

When he was a baby, he could charm me with his gurgle.
He would play with my hair making strands into little characters talking to each other.
Gorgeous and loving,
LOTS of energy.
He loved to throw things into the toilet and watch his dad, and I take the throne apart and find the item.
He sang with me a lot. Learned to love the Beatles.
Now he plays in a band for fun
And should you hear a gurgle in your pipes, he’ll be there to fix the problem.
***
I don’t know why gurgle made me think of my #3 son. But it did.
Yet another type of gurgle had me thinking of my #2 son. He’s always been strong and healthy. But his doctor told him his cholesterol was high. Yeah, genetic. (Mine) He’s a skinny guy, yet he’s on an Intermittent Fasting diet. I’ve decided to give it a try, gradually and trying to make it a lifestyle rather than a diet. And now my tummy is gurgling from the salad of spinach.
By the way, both sons have made albums—very different kinds of music, and way different than what I like. Still, I am proud that they are following their passions and finding their way. All three of my sons and my daughter are gorgeous. Genetics. Just not mine.
Another gurgle came from the couch. Two ears shot up. Now Kali is running around telling me to take her outside. So see ya tomorrow!

Some parents send kids there.
Some kids draw on the walls there.
Some kids follow their noses from the corner to the bigger wall.
Some find freedom that way.
Think about it next time you find yourself in the corner.
Maybe you deserve to be there,
or maybe not.
Draw some pictures.
Peel off the ugly wallpaper.
Follow your nose out of the corner and see the rest of the room.
Dance.
Because when you are in the corner,
You are there all alone.
Dance your way out of the corner.
Per Linda
Your prompt for #JusJoJan and Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “in the corner.” Write about whatever the image or thought of “in the corner” brings to mind. Have fun!

From our home to yours.
Snow seems to be the new normal to wake to. I didn’t take a picture of it this morning because it was an early Kali ‘outside,’ and we went back to bed. It melted by the time I actually woke. It is snowing now—big beautiful flakes.
Sunday went along rather regularly CBS Sunday Morning after UU. Then a fun GalaxyCon. Here is the cutest moment:
It was so much fun that I actually had tears in my eyes when it was over. Guess I’m missing my Doctor Who fixes.
My brother put up the Christmas trees today as he had the living room to himself. It was too cold out there, so I stayed in the bedroom. Tomorrow we’ll put on the lights. That is always a cheer to the soul.
This evening my son and I continued watching Legends of S.H.I.E.L.D. Fritz was captured and was being held in a cell. As he was trying to figure out where the team was and how they were taken, he also kept track by drawing monkeys on his cell wall. I got distracted by my urge to draw, said the monkey. I didn’t do too badly and found it so much fun. I took a picture while the show was paused so I can play with the doodle some more.
Do you get distracted by a need to draw something? What this made me think of is the Kilroy was here doodle you used to see everywhere. I drew those on my class notes quite often.
