I am in love with this series! The herd of horses and humans just won my heart over in the first book. Then in this book nearly ten-year-old Wade will wiggle his way into the top of the herd.

Whereas the first book was dedicated to the whole family and the near nearly dead herd of horses, this book is mainly about young Wade and how he broke his arm and the problems and lies that he is working through.

These books are written for any age without sex or violence or even cussing. I know! How can a book be interesting without a little of that? There is no bad guy or high anxiety moments. Just a kid, his family and the horses. Still, take my word for it. These are all great books for everyone.

By the way, I picked this up for free a while back. It is now $2.99 but is still free with Kindle Unlimited.

I picked this book up a while back. It was $1.99 and came with Whispersynch. How could I resist? I love good erotica. Especially lesbian erotica. BUT I don’t like BDSM. Sorry. I think it may have a lot to do with being in pain all the time. I don’t feel the slightest bit of turn-on due to pain. In fact, pain begets pain within my body. So, no. Not for me. And that was the majority of this book. As for the lesbian aspect? It felt more like 50 Shades of Grey with strap-ons. If you liked that, you’ll love this. All that pain without the long story to deal with.

Miriam Scott is the reason I gave more than one star. Her voice narrated this whole collection of stories. Very sexy yet sweet voice. A voice that changed with the characters. I think I could listen to Ms. Scott read the dictionary or phone book. Wait, do people know those are real paper books of heft? Well, this old lady remembers those LA/Orange County door stops and the writer’s best friend.

I don’t like anthologies as a general rule. I like stories with depth. I like getting to know the characters and the world. Stories don’t do that for me. So that was another point against this book. BUT in the case of erotica it is best not to have to wait a long time for the good parts. And I didn’t feel the need to read it straight through to find out how it ends. We all know how it ends! 😉 Unfortunately, not all these stories ended in a way I was happy with. To each their own, I guess.

What a jewel of a book! This was free when I picked it up. It is still free on Kindle Unlimited. Even at full price it is only $2.99. I think it is well worth that and then some.

This wasn’t an action/adventure kind of book. It is family centric and thereby the love of horses that the family holds dear. Get out the kleenex as there are a couple situations that will cause wetness on the cheeks, but the love of the horses and family make this story move. As it was, I couldn’t stop reading. I needed to know what would happen to these horses and this family.

The story takes place in contemporary times with computers, cell phones, and facebook. That makes it even more relatable. Even for those of us who don’t own ranches.

I finished this book too late at night to start the next book. But as of this morning I have already read nearly halfway through. I love this family. I love the horses and the horse rescues that are brought into the story.

Do you love horses? Do you love people who want to care for or rescue horses? This book/series is for you!

Well. That was fast! I don’t much like short stories. But since this didn’t end on a cliffhanger and I know there are more stories in this series, I’ll not complain.

Things I liked: The main character isn’t a pretty young thing. She’s only a couple years younger than me. She is well developed for such a short tale. Next… there are two cats that seem to help out quite a lot. THEN… it takes place in a library where the main character works. What could I not like. Oh, yeah. It was short.

Oh. I forgot to mention that this one is free on Kindle Unlimited. There is text-to-speech but no loanability. I guess that is because of the inexpensive price ($.99) if not using KU.

So if you need a quick read. This is it!

First may I say: I am not the target audience. AND I don’t want to judge another person’s journey.

Second: Sometimes a person with ADD can follow another’s train of thought better than others. Lean Dunham’s train never got near my tracks!

Needless to say, I am glad I borrowed it from the library rather than buy it. But there are those out there who will love it so I don’t want to discourage anyone from trying it out for themselves.

It is nice to see a younger ‘sister’ learning and leaning in toward her feminist life. Sorry for the troubles she has had along the way. I wish Lean the best in her continued careers.

I SO wanted to give this book five stars. Five stars because I miss Anne McCaffrey and she showed a different way to depict women in science fiction. Five Stars because I got to go back to Pern and enjoy the dragons and dolphins. But I just couldn’t.

Had I read this a long while ago when my eyes were still good, I might have given a higher rating. I wouldn’t have had to listen to the narrator, Dick Hill’s version of the story. Ugh! He makes all the women sound like weak whiners. Even Lessa, who is supposed to be a strong leader, Mr. Hill diminishes with his vocal characterization. But there was no text-to-speech so I was stuck with his voice. And there is no loanability for these books. What the Heck! Poor people want to read, too!

But maybe Dick was only working with what was there? Did our dear Ms. McCaffrey write the book with the male heaviness I felt? I just wasn’t happy with how it progressed. It took me much longer to read, just because it didn’t pull at me like, say, her Harper Hall books did. Okay. I did read most of this series about twenty-four years ago. Whew! That is a long time ago!

It was only near the end of reading this book that I realized that this was the last solo book of the series. I will now have to look up the continuation written with her son, Todd or those he wrote alone. I have a few sitting here, but I will have to find the Kindle versions and Audibles to get by.

SO as much as I miss our dear Anne McCaffrey and her love and talent, I have to stay truthful. This just wasn’t my favorite Pern.

I was going to give this book four stars because the author uses the trick of present tense writing. Most of the time, I hate that method. Sometimes on an action-packed story it works but even then I find it tiring. But the five stars are restored because I just felt it was such a precious story.

It moves slowly at first. But after you get to know who she, Liz Hall, is and where she is you start to feel more for the whole tale.

Poor Liz Hall killed in a hit and run when she was almost 16 years old. Never to reach adulthood, never to get her driver’s license, graduate, get married, have a career, have her own children… And if we are sorry for her loss you should see how she feels!

What an interesting take on the afterlife. Neither Heaven or Hell. Just… Elsewhere. Where you age backward from the day you get there. Where you can learn to talk ‘dog’ or other pet languages. Yes, our pets are there.

There are many sweet moments throughout the book. Then again, many bittersweet moments pull at you. In the end, I had tears running down my face, Not telling why. No spoilers here!

It took me a while to read. But I’m glad. I liked having the story to fall into as I chose. The font was okay and the amount of vanilla-colored paper made reading easy. I think I might like to get the Kindle version to read it again someday. I am sorry to let it go, ya know?

Oh. My. Goodness! Whew! That was a ride! Any of you old enough to remember E-tickets? Yeah, that kind of ride. So much fun, yet keeping you on the edge of your seat the whole time.

Was it the fantastic narration of Patrick Lawlor or did the author, Jack Kilborn just have that many funny bones in him? Whichever, or the combination, I had so many laugh out loud moments while reading that I am glad I was at home. I can imagine others in a library, looking at me like I was crazy. As it was I had to not let my husband know the joke as he plans to read this next.

The setting is in the far future and the main character, Talon Avalon, on of the last peace officers, one of the few that can operate the time machine to help solve crimes, is running for his life. Someone has stolen his identity, or so it seems. Now he is wanted for murder among other crimes.

This book takes place over two days. Our hero goes through everything, it seems. The orgy where he is an unwilling participant is the funniest. Don’t ask how that happens. You have to start at the beginning.

I do need to warn you that as I mentioned above, there are a couple sex scenes and much adult humor and language. But if you are mature enough (or have been raised with brothers and raised sons) none of it will shock you and may actually tickle your own funny bones.

Hurray for Kindle Unlimited with Whispersynch. That’s how I found this book. And now I am off to book two: Timecaster: Supersymmestry.

Okay. First of all I have to say ‘thank you’ to my husband for recommending and loaning me this book. It was fantastic!

Second, the title had me singing the first line of What I Did For Love inserting WITCH for TODAY. Having a title that makes you sing is fun! And the title also, keeps you guessing all the way through. Sorry, I won’t throw in spoilers as much as I want to.

I should have given this book a lower rating for not starring a strong fem. But with Sgt. Nick Gibson as the lead, he is at least empowering, if not protective of the strong women in his life, his daughter, Veronica, and his girlfriend, Annaliese Cross.

As exciting as the story is, I like how the author, Lisa Olsen, takes the time to teach newbies about Wicca and the flow of positive energies. Anna even takes Veronica into a ritual to invoke safety for herself and her father. I felt this was done well, yet not so deep that baby Wiccans can’t see a little about how the spirituality works. Kudos!

Other parts of the book are just plain scary and exciting. I wanted to go to sleep when I was at 80% but had to see it all through. Thereby a 5:30 sleep time. Good thing I had a nap yesterday!

Though this story ended with most threads tied up… I saw a stray which makes me look forward to another Nick Gibson novel! Yay!

This was a complicated find. My husband read and recommended book two of this series, Kiss the Witch Goodbye. I went to the Amazon page to see if I could afford it. Nope. So I borrowed it from him. Meanwhile I found there was a book one and it was free, so I picked it up. Then I loaned it to my hubby. He had to read them in reverse order. I was afraid I was doomed to the same, but he finished just in time for me to start on book one. Yay!

SO… I just finished this book. I was fun, as fun as a murder mystery can be. Yes, there is blood and bore, but there is plenty of light-hearted repartee, think Castle TV show for example. Don’t expect, or let’s hope we don’t expect this kind of behavior from our cops. It tells a good tale this way, ya know? Also, the witchy bits, not quite real, but there is a bit of an education into the basics of Wiccan life.

But as a story it was fun. It doesn’t live up to my goal of reading Fem leads by fem writers, but hey, if you saw my recent reads, you’d realize this is very light in comparison. As for the mystery, it did have me guessing almost to the end. The characters were fun and the world seemed real enough. I highly recommend this book for a light, fun read.

Now I will go and read book two.
