Yeah. I finished m wordage for NaNoWriMo. To get through the writing, I either listened to Pandora Classical Study Channel,
Dawson’s Creek,
or the Misfits.
I know. Quite the variety. My story is about people who are learning about new abilities. Hence the Misfits. There is a lot of family drama. Therefore Dawson’s Creek (And I love meandering down memory lane when my daughter and I used to watch it regularly, think, Y2K!) Other times I needed to just have something in the background. The music did the trick, usually. That is when it didn’t make me pull out the recorders or run to the piano to play Moonlight Sonata or Sarabande.
I wish I had pictures of something that is finished. But socks and hats took second place to writing. Oh, heck. This pair is close enough, just needing the cuffs. So Bam!
What are you watching, working on? By the way, Diamond Painting will be my next thing. I’m gathering bits to help with the new hobby.
I thought I’d be finished tonight. And maybe I still might, there’s almost three hours left of the day. But at this moment I have 48,458 words. Why am I so sleepy, tired and wordless?
Snap! Yep, that was a whip! See ya on the flipside!
I’m nearly finished! This means I have tons of work to do as I have 47,193 words toward the 50K. Somehow the book had a population growth that leaves me with many brackets and names that are just quick descriptions that I will have to give real names and characteristics. As soon as I get finished with the 50K I will be able to flesh out the story and start the editing. It has been fun, but so different than other years. I’ll tell you more later. I do plan on a post- NaNo podcast on either the 30th or the 1st.
I thought I had it made! I saw Golly Gee and Animal Crackers came to mind. Ah, alas, I was wrong, as the lyrics point out below. She says, Gosh, oh Gee. Well. Too bad. Shirley needed the nod. I bet if I did a deep search, we could find when she actually said, Golly Gee!
I think I’ve talked about how I was/am a Shirley Temple fan. In sixth grade, (60 years ago!) I was the leader of my class’s Shirley Temple Fan Club, membership ONE, ME. I would sing the songs for my classmates. Where did I get the courage? Well, the year before, my friends and I did The Wizard of Oz, so…
In sixth grade, I was 12. My mother told me she was Shirley Temple’s actual age. Ms. Temple was already an ambassador. Well, here’s her wiki.
My piano teacher did everything she could to keep me interested in playing the piano, so she found this book for me, yes, I still have it, and it is in the same shape as I am these days.
The only centerfold I’ve ever loved!See the Lassie sticker? There is a sticker on every song in this book. That meant I could play them near perfection. Ah, but now, it is sadly hard to play. Maybe after cataract surgery? I can only hope!
Lyrics
Animal crackers in my soup Monkeys and rabbits loop the loop Gosh, oh gee,but I have fun Swallowing animals one by one
In every bowl of soup, I see Lions and Tigers watching me I make ’em jump right through a hoop Those animal crackers in my soup
When I get hold of the big bad wolf I just push him under to drown Then I bite him in a million bits And I gobble him right down
When they’re inside me where it’s dark I walk around like Noahs Ark I stuff my tummy like a goop With animal crackers in my soup
Animal crackers in my soup Do funny things to me They make me think my neighborhood Is a big menagerie
For instance, there’s our Janitor His name is Mr. Klein And when he Hollers at us kids He reminds me of a Lion
The Grocer is so big and fat He has a big mustache He looks just like a Walrus Just before he takes a splash
Animal crackers in my soup Monkeys and rabbits loop the loop Gosh, oh gee, but I have fun Swallowing animals one by one
In every bowl of soup, I see Lions and Tigers watching me I make ’em jump right through a hoop Those animal crackers in my soup
When I get hold of the big bad wolf I just push him under to drown Then I bite him in a million bits And I gobble him right down
When they’re inside me where it’s dark I walk around like Noahs Arc I stuff my tummy like a goop With animal crackers in my soup
When they’re inside me where it’s dark I walk around like Noahs Arc I stuff my tummy like a goop With animal crackers in my soup
Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “golly gee.” Use “golly gee” or another interjection that displays the same sentiment in your post. Enjoy!,,
Since our cruise to the inner passages of Alaska, I have been a fan of all things the ‘last frontier.’ Yes, the Kilchers show is a part of my adventures. So when this story made its way to my attention, I had to partake.
Julia Whelan, the narrator, pulled me in. She was able to act the various characters well enough to distinguish them from each other. Her males are a little stilted, but, as I said, she made it clear who was speaking.
The author writes a many-layered tale, with a bit of education mixed in with some ‘bring your Kleenex’ moments. She captures the feeling of living in a place of long summer days and a never-ending night of winter, learning to live off the land, living in a small community, being the child of an abusive parent, so many levels of the life of this young teen in Alaska. I couldn’t stop listening. This book is the reason for sleep deprivation of the week. I just couldn’t put it down.
I know I will look out for more books written by Kristen Hannah, narrated by Julia Whelan.
I couldn’t decide which Bitmoji said it best. So enjoy. By the way, I’m actually making and eating instapot turkey first turkey I’ve had in decades. Looking forward to Zoom time with family.

Books, games, music, and life — filtered through the mind of a writer, drummer, and philosopher who thinks too deeply about all of it. If it moves something in your chest, I'm interested.
