Self-Editing On A Penny: A Comprehensive GuideSelf-Editing On A Penny: A Comprehensive Guide by Ashlyn Forge
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

For NaNoWriMo and Camp Nano, I have written approximately 20 books, most of them 50K or more. But here I am, the worst editor ever. But I simply love the stories as they run from my brain to the keyboard. Hence, I need to read many more books like this to reach the next step.

This was an audiobook with Sandy Vernon (narrator), Faust Kells (narrator), and Ashlyn Forge (author and publisher). With the couple of voices, the listener stays focused on the topic at hand.

Can I say that this is all the right advice? No. I am not educated enough in the publishing end of writing. It does seem to have a lot of great ideas I will try to follow as I move along. But the title feels misleading, especially if we think we can get by on a penny. Certainly Ms. Forge’s book proves it can’t be done. Sadly, this retired person can’t afford a lot of the processes described here. Still, I did learn a lot and will keep trying to find answers.

Noa's Ark (Archangel Project, #2)Noa’s Ark by C. Gockel
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the continuation of a fun Sci-fi series. In the first, the main characters are planet-bound for the most part. In this book, we are space traveling. It is very much a space opera. I could almost see this as a television or movie series.

Emily Woo Zeller (Narrator) changes voices seamlessly. She is amazing. Never once did I wonder who was talking or from whose point of view we were looking.

I can’t wait to listen to the next book.

If you like sci-fi, especially space travel, please seek out the Archangel Project.

Hi! Itโ€™s time for our twentieth prompt for Just Jot it January 2025. Today, we have a prompt gifted to us by the incomparable Kim. Thank you, Kim! Please be sure to visit Kimโ€™s blog to read her posts and say hello. And follow her while youโ€™re there if youโ€™re not already.

Your prompt for JusJoJan January 20th, 2025ย is โ€œantipodean.โ€ Use it any way youโ€™d like. Have fun!

If a review of sci-fi that speaks of planets couldn’t use the word “antipodean,” what could. But the main characters never got to the other side of the planet. Oh, but look! I used it anyway! ๐Ÿคช

The Girl GodThe Girl God by Trista Hendren

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh, wow. I picked this small but mighty book up for free today from Amazon. I was intrigued by the picture on the front cover and the title. I thought I was getting a children’s book. I believe this is an ‘everybody’ book.

The story was from a mother to her daughter. A sweet simple story. But the wisdom of the story runs deeply. Then there are the quotations throughout; each capturing a piece of my soul. All the illustrations were engaging. I wish I bought this in tree form as I would like to spend more time with the book and with the pictures. At least I can go back to this one in my ‘cloud’.

Because this was so wonderful I went to find other books by Trista Hendren. Yay! The were free with Kindle Unlimited!

8 Different Crochet Stitches: Learn to Crochet Something New with Free Crochet Patterns
8 Different Crochet Stitches: Learn to Crochet Something New with Free Crochet Patterns by Prime Publishing
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Here’s another one I picked up for free on Amazon. It is still free today. I love looking at the pictures on my tablet as they are very clear and I can see what the results should look like.

This isn’t a pattern book. If you are an experienced crocheter you have tons of patterns. This gives you stitches that you might include in your work. Some of them I knew, but could never find the pattern that included this stitch. Others were new to me. I can hardly wait to try them out!

If you like to crochet and need pictures to help you out, this is the book for you. Oh, and there are links to sites that will teach you more. This one is a keeper!
