When I mentioned to my hubby the word of the day, he said, “Which ham? Rosie, Teddy, or Kali? Between them you have a whole hog!”

img_20170212_1501474_rewind

Above starting at the ginger, Teddy. Black bump is Rosie. Kali is hogging the foreground. Hard to believe they can now get along like this. Now they have races up and down the hallway sounding like a herd of elephants!

Now back to the weather. Rain and snow predicted for the next few days. More adventures with Kali and friends to follow.

This Stream of Consciousness Saturday with prompt “ham” brought to you by Linda G Hill. Thanks for the inspiration!

Kali Makes Friends

Sometimes you are sitting there minding your own business when someone says they like you.

img_20170217_2102116_rewind

Really?

img_20170217_2102116_rewind_kindlephoto-12986527-1

I’m so excited I can hardly sit still!

I learned about TINK (or Killer as he wants to be called–I think he’s a he–my nose is good but I can’t seem to pull TINK into nose range). They have a 4-legses meet and greet and tell about another one.

img_20170217_2102116_rewind_kindlephoto-12986527

Yeah, this looks like the same picture as the one before but I was so astounded by the news it was hard for MommaDar to get a steady picture. Anyway, the other meet and greet was set up by a 2-legses doctor. But that’s okay, she loves 4-legses!

img_20170217_2102116_rewind_kindlephoto-13040195

This was supposed to be a picture of the rain and snow I had to deal with on our last “outside” but it wasn’t coming down hard enough to show, so another me! I sure am pretty! And I love when MommaDar whispers sweet nothings in my ear! Especially if life is going to be only ‘inside’ for a few days. I don’t like the river at the bottom of my steps. MommaDar says there is nothing she can do to stop this wet weather. Not sure I believe her.

Anyway, glad to meet other bloggers, even if they’re doggers–Kali the poet!

Kali Goes to the Library

MommaDar didn’t bring her phone or camera so you’ll just have to take it from the dog’s mouth.

We live in a very small town. Our library is dog friendly. The librarian usually has treats for the dogs that come to visit but she had just run out. Even so a nice man, MommaDar seemed to know him, offered me a treat.

It didn’t seem right. I think MommaLaura wouldn’t approve of taking treats from strangers, so I smiled at him and smelled the wonderful library smells.

MommaDar doesn’t get books at the library. She turns in her hats and other things and picks up the donated yarn to make other things. She reads library books on her Kindle.

It doesn’t matter. I can tell that the library is MommaDar’s favorite place. I can’t wait to get back.

Dog and cats napping together. Teddy, Rosie, and Kali enjoying snooze time. It’s been a little over a month and they are starting to hang out and even play together. At first, they were quite upset when the other was on their blanket. But that is over. Rosie is on the cat blanket. Teddy is on the dog blanket. Kali is touching her own blanket but mostly on my top comforter. It’s so fun to watch them start a friendship.

Happy Linconln’sΒ Birthday. All about how we can get along. Above is how that can happen to what should be mortal enemies can feel comfort in each other’s company. It is possible.

The winds dried up a lot of the water. The rest froze. It would seem life is better. But the barometric pressure is doing the rollercoaster thing. When that happens and I start flaring the only thing I can think to do is nap.

Here is my napping partner after I got up and came back to bed–cover hogger!

Who could resist this face?

So this ark is still surrounded by more than a foot of water and snow. The wind is blowing in the next rain/snow storm. Here are some new pictures I took this morning.img_20170205_1401063_rewind_kindlephoto-493350

See the red gas can (empty)? It used to be under the kitchen window. It is either the tide or theΒ wind that carried it to the far east of our property. And you can still see lots of snow. In fact, we have to carry the dog to higher snow to do her business.

img_20170205_1402265_rewind-1

Anyone who would dare to come visit or even the poor UPS guy will have to walk on the ladder then to the bit of snow to get to the first step of our front porch. We are taking care of a poor stray cat and usually feed him under the front porch. But now have to feed on the steps. Somehow, he is getting to the food. But how he does it without swimming I can’t figure out.

I just ordered some knee-high rainboots. My brother has some and has been the main person to carry but when he goes back to work (which isn’t tomorrow as the whole town is going through this) I will be able to carry her out.

Though this place has the happy name of Christmas Valley, the county name is LAKE. Now I know why!

Pull on your galoshes. This ain’t pretty.

Last night my dog didn’t want to go do her duty. There was the smallest bit of mud and water at the bottom of our porch steps. I got inventive and set the welcome mat over that wetness and she was able to jump across into the yard to do what she needed to do.

This morning she did okay. But by afternoon the stream and mud had gotten larger. It covered much of the welcome mat. Luckily, we had a wheelbarrow full of old dried weeds that never made it to the compost before the snow started (Thanksgiving?). I picked up a mat of these dried weeds to make another bridge across the moat at the bottom of our stairs. That was about three hours ago.

My brother made it home from work okay. An hour after that I needed to take said princess out once again. This is what we found from every window”

Backyard and brother’s car–which managed to get home from work in spite of floods coming home. He was able to get out of the car and up the porch in relative dryness. AnΒ hour later this is what we saw.

Driveway near the kitchenΒ side of the house.

So needless to say, poor little Kali has nowhere to go. Thank goodness for the piddle pad?

We are in a mobile. We are expecting more rain tonight and snow by Tuesday. Scary-hairy stuff.

This is my stream of consciousness as of fifteen minutes ago. Maybe STREAM is a word I should have avoided?

Complaint

When your day starts looking at this sweetie at the end of your bed, you know you have NO complaint!

Then I finished another Messy Bun/Ponytail hat:

img_20170117_1149329_rewind

Then I got to spend three hours on Google Chat with my besties M and Y. Lots of laughing! Love them so much!

I even had the chance to write a review about a book that brought back tons of memories:Β Betsy-Tacy Treasury

I guess you need to find the Complaint Department for some of that. I’m just feeling happy, accomplished, and loved!

And since I took two pictures of Kali, see if this doesn’t just make you want to squeeeeee!

img_20170117_1134481_rewind_kindlephoto-613666

Look at that ear! She knows I’m taking her picture but she tries to maintain the pose! Soft, lovable, sleeping sweetie!

SHOVEL BUDDY

Bam! I made it through 11 days of posting! Take that! But obviously, I am not good at one-liners! And since we have no car we have no need to shovel or buddy to go with.

But that brings up that my little Kali and I got to take a walk today. We haven’t been able to with all the snow and ice the last few days. It was warm enough not to wear my Alaska coat. Note the orange thermal fingernail polish that is pink until cold enough to wear the orange coat.

me-in-alaska

Nope. Just a couple cotton shirts under my black windbreaker. And Kali actually let me put her coat on for the walk. But we didn’t stay out long. The snow was slippery and icy. I nearly killed us with myΒ ungraceful ice walking/skating (?). And we got cold. Sooo. We go back inside and shrug off all those extra clothes. I should have worn my sunglasses for even that short time gave me a bit of snow blindness. And no sooner are we inside than it starts snowing, a lot! Weird! It had been sunny while out there. The sky was blue! But now the SNOW was so thick I couldn’t see the little hills just 12 miles away. So Kali and I decided to take a snow nap. SMILE!

Mongrel

kali-on-her-bed

Cersei and Jamie Lannister, the Targaryens, our real-life royal families and dog breeders aim to keep family lines pure. In the process, it becomes dangerous. JoffreyΒ comes to mind. Physical and mental issues result from inbreeding. Those poor poodles and other purebreds often have many problems, just so the owners can be proud of their fluffy friend. With dangers of birth defects, breeders and owners monetary output is huge. Maybe the breeder makes the most money. But what good is all that?

Mongrels are best! They are, for the most part, healthier. AND sweetest! Most of the pets of my life have found their way to me when they needed me and I needed them the most. Either they were strays I found or others found and gave me. Once in a while, I forced the issue by heading to the local ‘pound’ or animal shelter. When that happened, I would wander the place until that special pet called and connected to me. I always felt better getting pets that way than going to pet stores or breeders. I hoped to save the animal and often they saved me.

Kali (see the above picture), was a rescue my daughter found at the animal shelter worked her way into my heart. As much as the weather has been crazy lately, I haven’t felt my fibromyalgia going nuts. Could it be my new bed-mate, nap-friend, walking partner has figured out how to heal me? Look at that face! There is pure love!
