This is the very first thing that I thought of–okay, the second, with this prompt.

After the reminders of all that needs cleaning in the house this is what occurred next:

Don’t get me started on dirty tricks. Not a fan.

I would write more but I have a case of cat and dog paralysis.

Typing over Rosey and not being able to move because of Kali has limited this Jot.

I can’t believe Just Jot It January is nearly over. Thank you, Linda, for this fun challenge. Thank you, Jim, for getting Jotting down and dirty!

A friend and I were IMing each other. Every time her message arrived my laptop beeps. I like that as I don’t have to stay on the page but can follow my ADD (which isn’t on the prompt, by the way) and click on whichever tab I want to peruse.

But Kali goes nuts. She starts shaking and panting and won’t eat or drink. All those little noises the phone or laptop make to tell me someone wants my attention terrify her. Have any of you dealt with this? It’s been there since she moved in with us and I think my daughter had to deal with it also. I do remember when visiting my daughter that they couldn’t put on the oven because it made small ticking sounds. The would send Kali into a huge shaking fit. You have to cook so they just tried to ignore it and get the meal finished.

Our stove here doesn’t make a noise and the microwave doesn’t seem to upset her. So at least there’s that. But I miss many texts and IMs on my phone and laptop because I try to keep the sound down.

She looks calm but she’s blurry because of the shaking. At least she isn’t panting anymore. The IM conversation was a half hour ago.

She was a rescue way back when. It was her nervousness that ended her life at my daughters as she couldn’t be left alone without destroying the place. My daughter has to go out in the world and work, ya know. We took her in because we are home all the time, so…

We wanted to try her as an assistant dog for me but my anxiety gets way worse when I take her out with me into the busy world. We are only good for each other at home or out in the yard. Even walks make me more nervous because she wants to attack other dogs. She thinks she’s the alpha when the other dogs could eat her for lunch. So I have to be careful where I take her so we don’t have those encounters.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not complaining about her. I love her dearly and in our days she sits connected to me nearly 24/7. I’m just concerned about how to deal with her ‘sound anxiety’. Any ideas?

Well, I didn’t exactly meet the prompt requirement but I did follow my stream. Thanks, Linda!

Zoomies

‘What are the Zoomies?’ I asked when I saw this prompt. So I looked it up. Here’s what I found on Chewy.com. Kali has done that a few times. Mostly when the cats start it.

Teddy will scratch the furniture. I think when my daughter was Kali’s mommy she would reprimand her cat so Kali assumed that was something she could take on herself.

Teddy is the youngest of our furries but this is his go-to position. He gets really grumpy if you wake him. He has taken on the Garfield attitudes. In fact, every night when we feed the wet food to all three, he needs to be picked up and brought to his food.

He was wiggling to get down to said food.

I’ve shared pictures of Rosy and Kali more often.Β  Just a quick reminder:

She is a mixture of regal and ready to grab your every attention.

Kali is always attached to my body somehow or in my face. That may be why I have more pictures of her.

Anyway, so the two old ladies, Rosey and Kali think they are the bosses of Teddy. Poor guy. So when he attempts to scratch the furniture Kali will jump off my lap to go chase him and then Rosey will join in and there will be a blurry elephant race around the living room, hallway, kitchen, and bedroom. I say elephant because as floppy-soggy as they are on our laps, they can make the biggest thumping noise. It seems like they’re having fun. Most of the time the ‘bitch-slappers’ aren’t brought out. Rosey’s polydactyl ones are scariest. Kali has learned to respect those paws.

So, I assume Zoomies aren’t just something dogs get as all three seem to get them. Kali will run like crazy outside but it is usually bush to bush trying to find that perfect spot. But it’s a blurry furry mess as they run around like crazies. Most of the time it is all three going for it. Then they assume their previous positions. Sleeping more than likely.

Thanks, Linda! Thanks, Bee!

I’m sorry to have to combine days but, well, life, ya know?

First, I was busy making these while binge-watching shows on television.

A friend’s daughter had a baby boy. By the way, the snowman is for the big sister. The octopus is my own creation. The hat and booties are the patterns from the KB Baby Looms.

The snowman is from Scarlett Royal.

Then I got busy thinking that working my 10-stitch afghan to keep warm while in my living room. But it had been nearly a year since I worked on it and I couldn’t get it to work right. I’d forgotten how I was working it. It was lap-size that that point. I was really unhappy with it all so I frogged it. The whole thing. It took most of the day. (Frogged=unraveled=ripped. Sounds like ribbit, get it?) I kind of like doing that as I know I will have more yarn. I like the sound of the ripping. But then I make yarn cakes with myΒ  Yarn Winder.

I don’t often make that many cakes in a day. I couldn’t sleep last night for the pain in my winding arm. I still didn’t finish until mid-day today. Then I started my new 10-Stitch usingΒ Kristen Mangus’s pattern. I’ve made about five inches now, Can’t wait until it can keep me warm again.

Meanwhile, there was no need for companionship as this one is always within my reach, like now.

Isn’t that one of the sweetest faces around? And she understands a lot more than a lot of people!

Tuesday Talk

Yeah, I have no idea what I am going to talk about. I just want to make sure I stay in the habit of blogging. No more A to Z. No more CampNano. I haven’t even done any knitting lately.

When my kids were little I felt like I was being followed by four tornadoes. Making a list of what I needed to do made me feel worse when nothing on the list got done even though I was busier than ever. So I started making lists of what I did get done, even if it was a repeat of the same things over and over.

So here’s the list for today:

Moved two chapters from Word into yWriter so that I could detail everything and get lists of items, locations,Β and characters in each scene.

Did a few minutes each of Russian, French, Esperanto, Japanese, Spanish, and German. Yeah, my list has grown on Duolingo but I find it fun to work on all of these. I may never be conversant with any but I may have aΒ better understanding when I meet people who speak these, or when I find words in books of these languages.

Found out that I have a road trip with my Honey coming up. Unfortunately, it is to a hospital in Portland. Fortunately, the motel (hotel?) is covered so for this minor procedure. We just don’t have the kind of doctor he needs close by. Yay, Road Trip!

Unfortunately, I don’t think we can take Kali. Fortunately, there will be two people here to give her lots of loving while we’re gone. One plans to take her on long walks to wear her out. Maybe she won’t miss me? I will miss her.

For my background of the editing, I have been binging on Z Nation. It isn’t as good as TWD but there are moments that I am proud of the way they handle certain issues. And it is more humorous.

I guess that about covers it. What did you do today? How do you edit? How do you get things done? What do you do to improve your brain/body?

I’m once again behind. A day of driving around yesterday. We got a late start. Didn’t know where we were going. Why isn’t there a real

to mark the spot? We were looking for a Habitat for Humanity ReStore to find bookshelves and dressers. Got there just as they closed leaving us to settle for Wally World.

We didn’t like the dressers but found a cube bookshelf that could hold cloth baskets and eventually, if we find a better dresser this could stand up and be for books.

Long day. Plenty of pain, on many levels. Kali didn’t get to go so she gave me quite the lecture when I got home.

This “dresser” bookshelf was fairly easy and outside of missing a locking screw–WHY??? turned out to look like its picture:

That was how it looks on the box. We haven’t put it in its home yet so can’t take a picture of how it turned out.

The real bookshelf… Says on the box that it is 71 in high but comes in a box half that height. The instructions were horrid!!! WHY???? Here’s how it looks on the box:

We finally got ours to look like that without the stuff. It seems upside down as it turns out but we fixed it. Now it needs a wall to put against and help to restrain it. Then a bunch of books will find their new home and a dining room might emerge from the walls of boxes. Yes, all from my hobby room that is now my son’s room.

The easiest project was the coffee table that turned out way smaller than I thought it would be–so I need another or a storage hassock or something. Here’s how the coffee table looks on the box:

It will be nice not to have to drag my TV trays around the sofas so that I can knit and compute. But now I need to have coasters. LOL!

SO this was a SoCS brought to us by Linda G Hill

With a little of the A to Z Challenge mixed in. If you couldn’t tell X and Y were the letters of the day for me.

1-Liner A-Z Plus!

Sorry. Thanks! Understand? Verbose?

Β One-Liner Wednesday meets A to Z Challenge.

Okay, to explain the above line. Sorry it has been so long since I wrote here on the A to Z or otherwise.Β  After the long trip to town and back last week my back decided it hated me. I couldn’t find a comfortable place to type. I’m feeling a bit better now, thanks. Not ready to run any marathons–or walk any farther than the end of the driveway. I hope you understand. I hope that wasn’t too verbose.

But today I got out to take pics of the library, the surrounding golf course, and the lake. Here ya go!

This is from the parking lot. See the wheelchair ramp! And the bike rack?

Maybe you can see it better here.

There’s a nice shady spot at the end of the building with a picnic table and a view.

Kali made sure to walk the playground and golf course with her ‘uncle’. He makes sure Kali and I get out and enjoy the world.

There is also a playground and baseball diamond in this area and the park is not far from here, so nice grassy areas to enjoy.

The lake from two different angles.

Kali is happy she got out for a while.

And she earned her ‘cookie’!

For the last couple days the wind was so strong you could be sand-blasted out there. A few minutes ago I saw no farther than the end of the driveway. By the time I got my cell phone ready it had calmed down to this:

This poor Southern California-born gal hasn’t been able to take walks for a couple days and it may be a few more before this blows over. Kali is very sad! Me, too!

Goodbye Summer Part II

Because of this:

20171005_115759

I had to wear these:

20171005_115740

(Far too many rocks outside to go barefoot.)Β  But that resulted with this:

20171003_230545

TANNED TOES!!!! The only tan I have had in years!!!! By the way, taking pictures of one’s feet is not easy!

So goodbye bare feet and tanned toes. Wearing socks in the day and shoes outside. Ugh!

And all the fun I had this summer. These crazy kids:Michele and Yve and me

Got to visit and loom-knit/crochet and CHAT in the same rooms rather than over the internets. That was so fun! The one on the right came up to see me a couple times! Oh, and my hair is very short now. Hope I don’t freeze in the winter!

20170515_192553

I love these ladies to pieces!

20170929_152653

The above tree has no more leaves now.

20170929_152727

The driveway has more leaves now and the above trees are far yellow-er.

20170929_152801

And this currant bush is showing beautiful colors.

It is getting cold at night. Days get to the 60s when we’re lucky but we are back to the faucets dripping at night to prevent frozen pipes. The poor turkeys’/chickens’ water is frozen when we wake in the morning.

The saddest thing is I didn’t get to swim at all this summer. 😦

What better thing to begin with the letter Z than Zoo. Here are current pictures of mine:

kali and teddy

Remember those little tiny chicks and turkeys? Yeah, I can’t pick up the turkeys anymore they are getting too big for me. The chickens never got brave enough to be picked up. The Turkeys try to get me to pet them and are so curious that they will pick on my cell phone as I try to take pictures. Bro is gathering materials to make the portable coop.

One tired Teddy-cat.

tired Rosey after catching mouse night before

And another very tired Rosey-cat. Both were at our feet this morning with a dead mouse. Irm-thanks?
