One-Liner Wednesday is Linda’s prompt.

Mangos seems like it ought to be the plural of eat in many languages. Mmmm! Neh?

Take that those who say I’m behind.

A To Z Challenge, N

Nowadays, my NaNo is slowing down. Creating beings and planets, including new languages, is so hard for me. It is hard enough to describe things I can see and touch. Creating beyond those languages I am playing with seems impossible. So writing fast and a lot is not working for the moment. I have to think through everything. And all this using other beings’ viewpoints. This book has mermaids that can travel in space in a cloud of their own environment. But they can’t look like OUR mermaids, can they? Would we like them and want to help them if they are ugly? That’s not nice, but it is a fact of our nature we need to overcome. Not easy. So over the next few days, I will try to acquaint myself with creatures of undetermined qualities from places never known. They’ll need names, beings, and planets. Welcome to my world: NaNotopia!

By the way, I don’t think I’ve shared the current cover art.

Not Today

I woke with the sound of Arya Stark’s voice. I am no longer in love with Game of Thrones. The ending was atrocious. But sometimes a good GoT quote is called for. “Not today” is what we all should be saying. But then again while in the midst of this stuff and losing track of what day it is, all we need is one more day we can’t claim.

Trash is out so I guess it’s Thursday. No Grey’s Anatomy, except all the Netflix ones I’ve been watching. But I’m still pretty sure it is Thursday. Another week has gone to blurry.

Nothing is better than a call from offspring. That makes today very special. I got to touch base with the adultrens. Everyone seems to be fine, calmer than the last time we spoke even though there are new nerve-wracking situations in each of their lives. They seem to be holding it together and keeping on a healthy path. I feel better. I’m still mom and worried but their voices help me take a breath and be grateful.

As of last night, I was 31 words ahead of goal on my CampNaNo. National Novel Writing Month started way back in 1999. I think. I read Chris Baty’s book, No Plot, No Problem I think in 2001. I have written a NaNo every year and sometimes twice a year ever since. I love writing like that. Others may never read my novels but the adventure that flies from my head through my fingers is more fun than any other novel out there. Who but me knows what I like to read? Anyway, I should let Chris Baty speak for himself.

But speaking about novel writing I have 3 and 1/2 hours to get another 1,667 words in to be on track. I have dragons and hippos fighting and an angry virus that is sentient. It doesn’t matter how big you are when it is the smallest things like atoms and viruses that can destroy everything. I hope my characters figure it out better than the government is doing it. Deep Breath. Control what you can.

By the way, What Day Is It Anyway? is a prompt from Linda G. Hill

#A to Z Challenge–N

Now ‘N’

Which stands for Netflix. Which is what I did when I wasn’t visiting with friends or family. Here are some of the shows I watched:

BFG (Big Friendly Giant) Held up to the book quite well. My Review Here.

finding dory with friend

Oh, this was delightful! I loved how they treated the mental disability as a special ability. I LOVED the octopus!!!

13 reasons

After two children’s shows, I thought I’d go serious with this one. It ends in a rather triggery manner so if suicide is difficult for you to watch fast forward that part. The rest is a good reminder to be good to others and not jump to our own conclusions. Though delicate in nature, it would be good to watch with your teens so as to discuss relationships and how we each see things differently.

calling the midwife

I love this show. I had wanted to be a midwife at one time in my life. I gave birth to my last two at home and found the experience far superior to hospital birth. Since I was only a season behind I found this newest, of the fifties and sixties interesting. The move from the healthier home birth to the overmedicated hospital births and the result of medication that caused birth defects very sad, though a truism in our history. I love how it follows the history of women!

a street cat named bob.jpg

I was surprised to see this on Netflix. It, too, followed the book. Though I didn’t read the first one I read The World According to Bob. My Review Here. Which prompts me now to go look up more by the author.

growing up wild

Helped me fall asleep. It was cute but the narrator made the show seem immature.

3percent

One of the shows I looked at and didn’t follow through was 3%. I kinds of found it boring. Maybe I’ll try again later.

Next, there were others I tried and didn’t stay with are Life in Pieces, MST3000 (Actually watched it with family. One of many shows we watched that caused us all to laugh together.)
