The Pipe Woman Chronicles Omnibus (Pipe Woman Chronicles, #6)The Pipe Woman Chronicles Omnibus by Lynne Cantwell

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the best series I’ve read in a long time. It will go down as one of my favorites and I’ve decided that Lynne Cantwell is now one of my favorite authors. What is really fun for me is that I am focused on NaNoWriMo right now and I found this book a bit of a distraction. I had to wait until bedtime to read it because I needed my own story to run its course during the day. Even so, I spent many a long night reading. And I often woke in the middle of the night just because I wanted to read it. It was THAT good, for me.

I don’t like telling the story or getting involved in the story when I make my review. I always think a person can go look at the blurbs of the books to find out what it’s about. The most beneficial to me when I read reviews is, how did the person like it, how did it affect them? And how can they apply it to their lives? And I realize that some books are not to be read at any time because you have to be in a certain space in your head for them. But these books, this series, I can’t think of a time in my life when I wouldn’t have been excited reading them. Combine urban fantasy, mythology, theology, paganism, Native American culture in a story that captures the imagination and you have a winner for me. These books make you think, hope and have a bit of faith that others think like you do. And it is nice that the person that called this stuff “woo woo” is the main character that must live it as she learns about it.

I already miss all the characters and Ms. Cantwell’s writing style. I miss the plots within plots. I know I will seek out her writing again. Oh, and it was fun to learn that this series came out of the NaNoWriMo challenge. Woo Hoo! There’s hope for the rest of us struggling with the 30-word vomit.

Oh, speaking of vomit. Sorry, I have to say this. There was far too much throwing up of hands and all I could see was appendage-spewing. Some of the books in the series has it said only once or twice. But one of them it became a big distraction. Obviously that wasn’t enough for me to give the series less than 5 stars. As long as I don’t have to clean it up, I don’t mind. 😉

Please pick these books up either singly or in the omnibus form. I was lucky to get the omnibus for free, but I still picked up the individual books and reviewed them just to add to my reading goal of 200 books, I only have 5 more to go! Go me! They are reasonably priced and well worth it, I think. Enjoy!

Annealed (Pipe Woman Chronicles, #5)Annealed by Lynne Cantwell

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the best one of the series. But of course, it is! It ties up all the loose pieces. It puts you in the most precarious of positions and is the bravest of all. This book made me very happy that I started this series in the first place. Not that at any point I wanted to quit. Each book led me on a quest that I couldn’t let go of. I wanted to see what would happen. At times I felt it was way out there in what Naomi calls her best friend’s New Age ventures “woo woo”. But some thought into all of it makes if feel that these things aren’t talked about enough. In this last book, there is enough philosophy to make the concepts and fantasy combine to a realism one doesn’t expect.

Please, if you like fantasy, mythology, thrown in with theology and great characters and plot, read this series. There are many good points to chew on and think about long after this last book is over. By the way, I already miss the friends I made in these books. I want to know what happens next. But it was a satisfying ending.

Gravid (Pipe Woman Chronicles, #4)Gravid by Lynne Cantwell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am so enjoying this series. As I’ve said in the previous reviews, I am actually reading this in the omnibus but I do own each of the books of the series individually. I am reviewing individually for my reading goal on GoodReads. The goal is 200 books and I am now at 193. Yippee!

I am reading with text-to-speech so I often don’t notice when the new book starts. But this one I could tell. The story continues to ramp up revealing more and more of the story and its answers. I am loving all of it now. I look forward to finding out how this all ends… and yet, the sad part is that it ends. By now in the series, I feel I know all the characters as well as I do my friends and family. Lynne Cantwell is becoming one of my favorite authors. I love how she is taking on the different religions within this story. Great job!

Tapped (Pipe Woman Chronicles, #3)Tapped by Lynne Cantwell
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Because I am reading this book in the omnibus edition, and using text-to-speech, I found they didn’t know. When I got to tapped that I was reading a book number three. But once I discovered I was no longer in book number two, and I realized that the story had picked up, I knew I was well into the number three. And the story does pick up quite a bit in this book.

I’m having a hard time reviewing these in between books, because I’m seeing it as a whole series. And I’m loving it. And sad to know that I’m nearly at the end.

The only reason I’m reviewing these in between books is I do own these separately that it adds to my reading goal on GoodReads. My goal is 200 books for this year And I’ve read 192. 🙂 Yay me!

Fissured (The Pipe Woman Chronicles, #2)Fissured by Lynne Cantwell
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I’m nearly finished with the omnibus. And this is book number two. So far it is my least favorite of the books. It seemed to drag on and didn’t move the story along enough. I think. But since this is such a great collection of books, this book is worth getting through, so you know the whole story. If it wasn’t for NaNoWriMo, I would’ve reviewed this a lot sooner. Sad thing is, I’m not nearly where I should be with NaNoWriMo, and my reviews are getting behind too.

This is a great series, and I suggest you get omnibus because it’s easier to read it just straight through and having to go and find the book singularly.
