Tag Archive: Snow

Lightly falling,

Fluffy white,

Suddenly:

Sideways,

Crisscrossing,

Erratically

Blowing.

Blizzard?

Not quite.

End of story?

Hardly.

This Stream of Consciousness Saturday is brought to us by Linda G. Hill.

What do you do with a Friday that didn’t work out as planned?

I couldn’t take the trip to town, Flare. Body predicting cold snowy weather. Husband and son volunteer. But snow would be coming too soon. Canceled. But need groceries. Even as we discussed what to do flurries were gathering on the banister of the porch.

Yeah, the old snow never melted so this coming week should be interesting.

DH and brother drive to little town. Get necessities which in the case of the snow that had started celebratory pizza.

While they were gone my friends and I got together over the internet and laughed and talked for hours. Friends are great!  They made me feel like this:

This evening while trying to figure out what to share here, Teddy came to visit with me.

“Mom, I’m bored.”

“Wanna play?”

“Nah.”

Then he marched off my bed to see what other mischiefs he could get into.

More snow expected over the next week. It is pretty. But worry about Kali and her outside times. Much deeper and she will disappear.

Friends, family, furballs, pizza. Who could ask for more? Snowed in? What do you do?

Snow Sunset

I just had to share what I saw from my recliner. Sunset in the snow clouds. I had to put down the loom and the little hat I’m making and grab my phone. I think this would be a cool book cover!

Two days after the Groundhog predicted an early spring, we’re getting our late winter.

And at 4:30 it is still snowing! Yay! Sorry if it is a hard winter for others out there, I miss the snow!

Oh, and by the way, I did watch GHD two days ago along with the special features on the DVD. Yes. I think of it as a very spiritual, wise movie.

Sap/Sep/Sip/Sop/Sup

“‘S’up?”

“Sap?”

“Nah, it’s winter. How’s the soup?”

‘SIP’ “Sipped”

“And the bread?”

‘SLURP’ “Sopped.”

“The tab?”

Diner leaves the cafe quickly and shouts, “SEP!”

Waiter shouts back, “What’s that mean?”

Teen on a cell nearby mumbles, “Somebody Else’s Problem.”

You can find others using this theme once you check in on Linda G. Hill’s site. Some are far more clever than mine.

How about a few knitted projects to add some visual interest?

Loomed mostly flat-wrap knit with e-wrapped portions.

Needle knitted

Both sets loom knitted. I think this was a Loom a Hat pattern. It was so easy and I loved these slippers so much I almost kept them. They were SO soft. I think someone will love them as much as I did.

I love making these tiny comfort dolls. It is one of Loom a Hat’s patterns I have memorized so that I don’t have to read a pattern or watch YouTube.

My ADD Saturday Stream is taking me to the next binge. UnReal on Hulu. I hate reality shows. First of all, you know they aren’t, right? Real, I mean. This show gives ideas as to how unreal these shows are. Yet this show has interesting writing. I like how the topics are current and addressed in creative, if not, horrible ways. Have you watched it? What did you think?

Oh, and yesterday I started on the Better Call Saul. Funny, mostly.

I watch UnReal with my husband as we seek something interesting while TV goes on hiatus. Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, I watch in the living room during the day and my brother and son join me. Shows I really like, the guys don’t, so when I need alone time I’ll pull out a feminist movie and watch them all seek out their own entertainment. If I need more bodies in the living room to keep it warm put on a guy show. Crazy how that works! 😉

The wind is blowing in a storm. We are expecting snow tomorrow. The noise outside is crazy! I expect to see a witch riding a bicycle by the window at any moment. I took poor Kali out a while ago and she nearly crashed into the door as I tried to hold it open against the gale. Hey. Have you noticed that? Dorothy Gale got taken in the tornado!

Okay, it’s late enough that the stream of consciousness is overpowering me. Flood of consciousness more like.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

We had a good time and it even snowed! How was your Thanksgiving?

For the last couple days the wind was so strong you could be sand-blasted out there. A few minutes ago I saw no farther than the end of the driveway. By the time I got my cell phone ready it had calmed down to this:

This poor Southern California-born gal hasn’t been able to take walks for a couple days and it may be a few more before this blows over. Kali is very sad! Me, too!

Share Your World March 5, 2018

What did you or did not like about the first place you lived without your parents?

Really? Everything! I lived in a small town four hours from my parents. Yes, I shared it with my husband, but I felt so grown up. It was a big apartment. Two bedrooms. Huge living room. Open kitchen so that I could be a part of things while cooking or washing up. Oh, there may be my negatives. That husband thought in very ancient terms. But the place was beautiful and modern. Not something I love now, but then it spelled freedom and maturity! Oh, yeah, in your twenties a tiny town with only one blinking stoplight and nothing for youth to do, was BORING. But we learned to be adventurers. We drove to nearby towns. Or that four hours to see all the family and friends left behind. Then SO happy to be back in my own apartment.

What is your most favorite smell/scent?

Ocean. Oh if that could be bottled! The second best is forest, camping, campfire smells. Near the ocean–Heaven!

Would you prefer snowy winters, or not, and why?

Since we are retired, the snow is beautiful outside. Sometimes we take walks in it. I have to admit to loving watching the snow and seeing the scenery clean and fresh with white linen. In fact, around here, if there isn’t snow it is SO much colder. Like minus numbers colder. Without the snow, that is just misery!

What did you appreciate or what made you smile this past week?  Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.

What I appreciate is having my license back. Not having the funds to get it renewed at the right time was devastating! But due to unfortunate events, I now have a truck and a license which I intend to relish and show gratitude in huge amounts. After all, who knows how much longer I will be able to drive? My grandfather made it into his 80’s I think, but others in my family didn’t make it that long. Now to find the funds to do some awesome road trips!

As usual, thank you, Cee, for Share Your World. A chance to look at life and share with others.

The weather app on my phone said late-night snow. At midnight ‘outside’ stars in the sky.

Seven o’clock wake up:

Christmas decorations are up at stores too soon. Maybe this is the result of ‘Wishing for a White Christmas’ happens before the last leaves fall from the trees prior to Halloween? It is now 10:35 and the snow is melting. Rain makes icky mud!

#A to Z Challenge–G

Going, Going, Gone? GNot!

Kali’s first ‘outside’ of the day. Hubby took her out around 11 last night and proclaimed it was snowing. I took her an hour later and it was just wet. (We are late night people so Kali is too.) This morning at 9:30 there was snow on everything.

See all the brown? Snow goes away quickly where the quail get fed. Oh, and Kali isn’t looking at the car. There is a quail still finishing up and two seconds later she is attempting flight. For walkers, quail CAN fly away quickly. Kali hasn’t quite mastered it even though her huge ears are flapping.

If you can see her please give her a bit of privacy, please. I couldn’t see the screen of my phone the sun was so bright so I didn’t realize she was in the middle of the picture.

Front yard. Look at that sky!

So Father Winter isn’t quite finished with us but Spring Sun has it melted by noon. But more clouds means he’s not finished for the day. At least the temps are not so cold anymore.
