Just Jot It January–Storm

We have had small storms this winter. This one was a couple weeks ago. I think we got an inch of snow. Today we had clear skies and mud instead of snow. My friends and family have had nasty storms, getting 6-8 inches. I know for a lot of people it is dangerous if not a chilly inconvenience. But I love the snow. I grew up in Southern California, where the only way we saw snow was on visits to the mountains.

A different kind of storm worried our minds as we thought that Rosey, our black polydactyl cat, might have something bad wrong with her. My husband took her to the vet today. He was impressed by how beautiful she looked. All her tests were in the normal range. The sad thing is we still don’t have anything for her spells. Every now and then, she seems to turn summersaults and moves around on her elbows and knees. She defecates and vomits and needs to stay in the dark quiet. Then she recovers and is quite fine ready to eat and play. The vet says it is neurological, and there isn’t much we can do but ride the spells out. If they start coming more often, we’ll be forced to make decisions that are not so comfortable to think about.

Just Jot It January is a fun prompt by Linda G. Hill.

Just Jot It January–Trigger

I am giving you a trigger warning, but it won’t bring you:

If you are like me, this one will make you happy:

Yes, it’s been snowing AND STICKING today. We got about an inch. I took Kali out, and the peaceful sound and glow of snow just warmed my soul. I hope it snows more tonight. We really need it.

I’m trying to catch up with my Graham Norton. That is making me happy. I haven’t watched it since before Christmas. We still have up our tree(s). I feel cool knowing there is snow with the shine of Christmas lights. We were going to take it down a couple days ago, but we were all either too lazy or still glowing from the spirit. Anybody else slow to get rid of Christmas? Graham Norton commercials are all Christmas. I wish those could be packed up and the trees left out. Merry Month Later Christmas Eve!

So what did I trigger?

Here are the JusJoJan Rules:

1. Just Jot It January starts January 1st, but it’s never too late to join in! Here, we run on the honour system; the β€œjot it” part of JusJoJan means that anything you jot down, anywhere (it doesn’t have to be a post, it can even be a grocery list), counts as a β€œjot.” If it makes it to your blog that day, great! If it waits a week to get from a sticky note to your screen, no problem!

2. I’ll post prompts at 2am my time (GMT -5).Β The prompt will be the word in quotation marks in the title of my 2am post.Β You don’t have to follow the prompt every day, but that will be where you leave your link for others to see. You’ll get a prompt for every day except Wednesday, when the prompt is simply my One-Liner Wednesday and on Saturday, when your prompt will be the Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS, which will appear at about 9:30am Friday. Each prompt post will include the rules.

3. Please ping back or link to the daily prompt. To ping back, just copy the URL from the daily prompt post, and paste it anywhere in your post. Check to make sure your link shows up where you want it to, and go back occasionally to see other bloggers’ entries – the more you visit others, the more they’ll visit you! Note: A) The newest pingbacks will be at the top of the comments section. B) Ping backs only work if you’re blogging on WordPress. Everyone else must paste a link manually.

4. Tag your post JusJoJan and/or #JusJoJan.

5. Write anything! Any length will do! It can even be a photo or a drawing – you’re going to title it, right? There’s your jot!

6.Β If your post is NSFW, do not ping back. Please leave your link in the comments with a warning.

7. If you’d like to, use the JusJoJan badge so that others can find your post more easily.

8. Have fun!

It snowed a couple of days ago. Real snow. Not the spit in the morning and mud by noon kind. Here are some pics I took then.

One of our mesquite bushes covered with snow.

Two inches on the rails and the post.

Our truck and car covered in snow as seen through the good-luck plant (thank you, Rizza) through our kitchen window. So beautiful everything covered and didn’t melt to mud.

It didn’t snow through the night,

Though the coyotes howled nearby.

A cold fog came early this morning.

It powdered everything so beautifully.

The mesquite was covered in snow and frost.

Β With the snow, the beauty is limitless.

In fact, you might think the sky is the limit:

Your prompt for #JusJoJan and Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: β€œsky’s the limit.” Write about something that has or seems to have no end. Enjoy!

After you’ve written your Saturday post tomorrow, please link itΒ here at this week’s prompt page and check to make sure it’s hereΒ in the comments so others can find it and see your awesome post. Anyone can join in!

To make your post more visible, use our SoCS badge! Just paste it in your Saturday post, so people browsing the reader will immediately know your post is stream of consciousness and/or pin it as a widget to your site to show you’re a participant. Wear it with pride!!

2019-2020 SoCS Badge by Shelley!Β https://www.quaintrevival.com/

You can also use the Just Jot it January badge! To find the rules for Just Jot it January,Β click here.

Here are the rules for SoCS:

1. Your post must be stream of consciousness writing, meaning no editing, (typos can be fixed) and minimal planning on what you’re going to write.

2. Your post can be as long or as short as you want it to be. One sentence – one thousand words. Fact, fiction, poetry – it doesn’t matter. Just let the words carry you along until you’re ready to stop.

3. There will be a prompt every week. I will post the prompt here on my blog on Friday, along with a reminder for you to join in. The prompt will be one random thing, but it will not be a subject. For instance, I will not say β€œWrite about dogs”; the prompt will be more like, β€œMake your first sentence a question,” β€œBegin with the word β€˜The’,” or simply a single word to get your started.

4. Ping back! It’s important so that I and other people can come and read your post! For example, in your post, you can write β€œThis post is part of SoCS:” and then copy and paste the URL found in your address bar at the top of this post into yours.Β  Your link will show up in my comments for everyone to see. The most recent pingbacks will be found at the top. NOTE: Pingbacks only work from WordPress sites. If you’re self-hosted or are participating from another host, such as Blogger, please leave a link to your post in the comments below.

5. Read at least one other person’s blog who has linked back their post. Even better, read everyone’s! If you’re the first person to link back, you can check back later, or go to the previous week, by following my category, β€œStream of Consciousness Saturday,” which you’ll find right below the β€œLike” button on my post.

6. Copy and paste the rules (if you’d like to) in your post. The more people who join in, the more new bloggers you’ll meet and the bigger your community will get!

7. As a suggestion, tag your post β€œSoCS” and/or β€œ#SoCS” for more exposure and more views.

8. Have fun!

One-liner Wednesday SNOW

There was little snow in the morning, then mud, now snowing like it should have on Christmas Eve!

If you would like to participate in this prompt, feel free to use the β€œOne-Liner Wednesday” title in your post, and if you do, you can ping back here to help your blog get more exposure. To execute a pingback, just copy the URL in the address bar on this post, and paste it somewhere in the body of your post. Your link will show up in the comments below. Please ensure that the One-Liner Wednesday you’re pinging back to is this week’s! Otherwise, no one will likely see it but me.

Tuesdays Tidbits

This morning’s snow. Not predicted. Tomorrow we are supposed to have rain. We’ll see.

By noon, the snow is mud, except right in the front on the house’s north side.

Decided to add a pom-pom to the hat on the left that is going to the same house as the hat I finished and pommed on the right. I loved this gifted yarn to make gifts with.

The hat on the right has a rolled cuff, as I thought I had better get it finished soon. This was on the Flexee skinny loom. It was so fun to work with. To decrease, I followed this tutorial, which works out so nicely.

Blue Sky and Snow

Edged by Christmas tree,

Freedom flies,

Snow vision to see

Blue is the skies.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is β€œmini/maxi.” Use β€œmini” (the smallest of something) or β€œmaxi” (the largest) or both in your post. Have fun!

Last night as we took Kali outside it was snowing. I grabbed shoes and my new coat (thank you, Rizza!) and stood on the porch looking up. There is nothing as beautiful as white fluffs drifting down onto face and glasses. This gave me maximum enjoyment for a mini amount of snow. (Possibly 1/4 inch.) Most melted. More is expected tonight and tomorrow. Maybe another maximum thrill coming.

One-Liner Wednesday

Happy birthday to me, COVID19 style.

So that was my one-liner for One-liner Wednesday but wait, there’s more:

I wanted to see the trees and nature for my day. My husband and Kali took me up to the campsite. It is only 14 miles from our home. Unfortunately, it is a rough dirt road. But well worth the drive!

Here I am giving a guided tour of the favorite campground for our family. Though it is only 14 miles away, as I mentioned before, it takes a while to drive it.

Kali isn’t a fan of the drive. When I let her out for a while to walk, I think she would have rather walked the whole way. Nope. I am not in that kind of shape.

After we got too cold to stand there, we climbed into the truck to come home. It was equally as long coming home (go figure!), but at the end of the dirt road, we saw a herd of deer just before getting on the highway. I took a couple pictures from the passenger seat across from Chris and his barely opened window, but maybe you can join me in enjoying the thrill of seeing these sweeties.

Added 1300 to the project. I’ll get this out and edit after midnight after I have the full numbers to report.

[EDIT to follow]

So the total for yesterday (since it is after midnight) was 41,791 the goal was 41,675. So staying ahead. A bit.

This came up as a memory on Facebook. This was five years ago.

Guess what happened several times today.

One of the One-Liners that came to me for yesterday would have been:

This is the fake snow, it turns brown.

But it is interesting that we get snow the same day years later.

Another one-liner to say was:

Quick Word Count Update

17,381 And it is snowing beautifully outside.
