Dar49 Daily

Dar49 Daily. Is out! This is a learning curve I haven’t got to the finishing line on. I have edited three versions today only to have Paper.li send out one that had not been seen by me. It wastes my time as it takes a long time to go through each paper. No, I don’t write the news on these papers. Rather, I pick and choose what to feature, out of the web-grab that Paper.li does. I hope to provide positive news and tend toward social awareness for those who are in minorities or unable to talk for themselves.

Rough First Drafts and Rigorous Revision with Sara Grant. Thanks, Sara Grant, I needed that!

Gulp, yes, I posted my newest write from two weeks of prompts from my writers’ group. Either click at the top of My Blog on My Stories. Or click on the handy-dandy links I just left on this note.

If you are a writer, play with the prompts and write your own before you read mine. I’d like to see the stories you all come up with. And, another gulp, let me know what you think of my story. Please be kind… I’m still a little shy about sharing my babies.

Dar49 Daily

Dar49 Daily. Yep! I have a Paper.li paper. It is fun to work with. I select the news that I want to see. I try to keep what I choose positive, Earth-friendly. but bring attention to social injustices. The paper is heavy, right now, about Game of Thrones and fibromyalgia health issues. Oh, and I try to find a lot of articles on writing and books. Hope you all like it. The thing is, when you start to set up your paper, you get to put in the search bar the things you are interested in. Up pops a bunch of news feeds from AP through Twitter. Then you go to your paper and run a refresh and pick and choose from what is presented. I think it is a  fun, informative procedure. AND I don’t have to write in journalism form, I can stay my emotive, opinionated self over here. All AP style is done for me. 🙂

You know that feeling when you finally hit the sand at the beach, you take off your shoes and feel the warm grains of sand massaging, absorbing your feet and spirit, and then that precious moment when you stand in the foam and hear the pounding of waves, smell the salt in the air? Or that moment when the car gets to the forest of evergreens and you have to stop the car as your eyes release the tension of the sun and city, and you smell the pine and dirt? That is how this blog affected me.

Okay, I am not doing the sunrise thing. Been there, done that. But I understand the concept. The only way a sunrise is beautiful to me is when I have had a productive writing night and I see it as time to go to sleep, at last.

The rest of this speaks to my soul. I hope it speaks to yours, too. Thank you, Jasmine, for sharing on http://kuuleilani.wordpress.com.

16 steps to happiness.

The Scriptorium Webzine. Lots of great information on writing on this site.

Last night I went to bed full of ideas of what I wanted to accomplish with my writing today. I was excited as I have downloaded three new writing programs to play with, Scrivner being the costliest. I am still on the free trial. I think that I will buy it. It looks like something I might be able to use for everything, including the blogging.

I picked up these two for free: StoryTurbo and Storybook

I haven’t had the time to look at them yet.

My husband prompted me while watching me painfully processing a ‘senior moment,’ to get Grammar Check Anywhere . This is another I have already found useful. It isn’t cheap, either. At least not to me. However, I think it will pay for itself as I don’t see those moments going away.

So my plan for this morning was to continue to edit a story I was working on last night. I wanted to post it here when I felt it was public ready. Which won’t mean professionally edited, merely lots better than it is now.

This was all spurred by several of the posts I reblogged here yesterday… and this morning?

BUT… I got online and decided to make sure I am in all the social media. I’m still learning Tumblr. I just don’t get it. Is there no way to respond to other peoples’ posts? I made sure I had a Reddit account. Not sure what to do there. Decided to started being serious about the editing issues by getting more involved in Scribophile.com to learn to edit other authors’ work and hand over my babies for outside help.

All these web sites, so much ‘research,’ so little time. Every site that I was on presented me shiny things. Then I found Paper.li. Did you know that you could put out your own paper? Hey, that was fun!

Then my laptop was overheating. Not the battery, the processor. So I had to turn it off. Yes, I have a cooling pad. If anyone has other ideas to help I’m open to them.

Meanwhile, I still wanted to make sure I wrote on my little blog. So I am on my tablet. I can’t write this in those fancy-dancy new programs or with grammar and spell check on. So I am doing the best I can with what I have here. When the laptop cools, I will transfer all this to a few of those programs to clean it up and add the real web sites. I might even find a few pictures to add to this. I expect an applause if this actually gets onto the blog today. Think of all the shiny things between here and there!

Interesting read. Some great ideas. Nice to know that reading level less that fifth grade are best as mine seems stuck at third grade since menopause. 🙂
