This is book three of the Southern Comfort series. But it isn’t the same people continuing a story but other secondary characters who were in the past books telling their story to continue in time.

There is a bit more romance and it leans on NA rather than YA. The crime was harder to take, too. Still, overall, I liked the story.

If you like crime and suspense stories this series is for you. I have to admit that since I read before sleep, this wasn’t for me. No, I couldn’t just back away and go to sleep. The fears came with me. I couldn’t seem to find a stopping place where I thought the characters would be safe without me.

The writer was excellent in how she kept the reader in the book. Even so, I doubt I will read the rest of the series. Let me know if you do and how you like them.

Remember this from yesterday?

Well, there was more to that story. My husband tried to capture the picture from the door of the creature in the driveway.

This morning the creature was right across the street.

I tried not to think about it. But then as it started snowing again, and I started to take a picture of our front porch, I saw yellow.

Look who came to visit!

That same creature. What is it? You may ask. I did. I went to the door and this is who I found:

I don’t trust that innocent smile, do you? We sent him back home. Told him next time bring cookies!

Meanwhile, the snow continues icing the view.

And I continue to knit.

Believe it or not, the socks and hat are of the same yarn. Lessons in shadows and light, I suppose. Patterns for both hat and socks came with the small gauge baby KB looms.

Festive Friday 20190208

What do you do with a Friday that didn’t work out as planned?

I couldn’t take the trip to town, Flare. Body predicting cold snowy weather. Husband and son volunteer. But snow would be coming too soon. Canceled. But need groceries. Even as we discussed what to do flurries were gathering on the banister of the porch.

Yeah, the old snow never melted so this coming week should be interesting.

DH and brother drive to little town. Get necessities which in the case of the snow that had started celebratory pizza.

While they were gone my friends and I got together over the internet and laughed and talked for hours. Friends are great!  They made me feel like this:

This evening while trying to figure out what to share here, Teddy came to visit with me.

“Mom, I’m bored.”

“Wanna play?”

“Nah.”

Then he marched off my bed to see what other mischiefs he could get into.

More snow expected over the next week. It is pretty. But worry about Kali and her outside times. Much deeper and she will disappear.

Friends, family, furballs, pizza. Who could ask for more? Snowed in? What do you do?

Random Thoughts Thursday 20190207

I had no idea what I was going to write about tonight. But I wanted to because I’m getting rather used to writing something every day.

So I took a few pics of Kali. When all else fails Pictures!

She loves it when I give her hugs or when I whisper sweet nothings in her ears. She will sit for a long time enjoying that one on one attention. She is so sweet!

When she isn’t attached to me, I am knitting. Here’s my newest accomplishment: Red hats for February.

And I’m learning to make little socks!

Had enough of that thinner yarn to make another little infant hat.

It is still cold here and another storm is expected this weekend through next Wednesday. Kali and I are happy that the porch and the bottom of the steps are not icy or snowy.

Chair Yoga continues. I’m not making a lot of progress but with Fibro, I’m happy to do the exercise every day without adding more pain. And now my husband is pulling up a chair and we work out together! 😀

I finished True Blood. It wasn’t nearly as scary as I thought it would be. In fact, I found it a bit silly at times. I hate finishing a series as then I flounder trying to find something else for pain distraction. Today I watched Knowing I think it was on Showtime. It was really good!

I’m not a person who likes mysteries (they are usually about murder) or crime stories. When you have lost a lot of faith in your fellow humans in society of late, these themes don’t help. I AM a fan of a series of just about anything as I love watching characters grow and plots thickening.

Since I picked up the first of this series for free I grabbed the next two to keep a story going. The first was a little too much for me as was this one. Yet with both books the budding romances with people who seemed to be real enough to enjoy, the suspense was bearable. This one was harder for me with kidnapping involved. Both books made sleep nearly impossible after reading. Just a warning.

STILL, I have book 3 ready to start tonight. What am I in for now?

Oh, I guess I should mention, I felt the author had done a lot of research on crime and the law as it all sounded plausible to me. It kept me on the edge of my nerves hoping for the safety of the characters. The author wrote very well in an ever engaging way. If you like crime and mystery, this may be a good series for you.

I finished this in a couple of hours. It was basically a short episode. Like a short story that ends with a bit of cliff-hanger. No. It was written well. It was a good idea but to only have one at a time available, this binger of shows and books wanted to throw my Fire across the room.

Like I said, I like the podcast idea. The podcaster had a great curiosity about a murder and used that sent the DJ out to explore the mystery. Though she seems a strong person, I felt the main character foolish. But I was game and read along hoping she would get satisfied in her search. But it ended before I felt it had a chance to even get started.

Maybe others will like this. I do seem to be in a minority in my need to read very long series. I like getting to know all the characters in depth and watch history in the making in fictional worlds.

Two Days After

Two days after the Groundhog predicted an early spring, we’re getting our late winter.

And at 4:30 it is still snowing! Yay! Sorry if it is a hard winter for others out there, I miss the snow!

Oh, and by the way, I did watch GHD two days ago along with the special features on the DVD. Yes. I think of it as a very spiritual, wise movie.
