A couple people have asked how we are doing. So far we are okay in our little Oregon town. But the news of nearby towns is tragic. My son is getting well. My other son broke his pinky toe in solidarity. I’m kidding. It is just a coincidence. But he’s okay. We’re okay. It is 2020 so keeping good thoughts for all of us, all of you, too!

Made It Monday

KB skinny Flexee Loom.

Skinny Flexee Loom

80 pegs divided four by four for a brim. Then used the knitted sections to make a four peg left-leaning cable.

When I reached 7 inches I started the decrease crown like this:

Then instead of finishing as Kristen did, I moved the loops to make sure I could remove every other link. Then I started another round of decreases. I love how smooth the crown looks when it is on a real head. Now I am making a toddler-sized copy. I love doing the cable and the crown stuff!

By the way, when you look at this photo from CBS Sunday Morning yesterday it’s just sad numbers.

When you know someone it is personal. Yes, my son tested positive. He’s doing lots of sleeping and bingeing shows, his fever is lower now and the cough seems to have lessened. He’s trying to keep his friends and family aware of his progress on FaceBook and his spirits seem good, if not bored. So I am taking comfort in that.

Of the three books in this series so far, this is my favorite. I’m beginning to warm up to the characters and the story. With all there is going on in the world a nice fantasy can help give you a breather. So rather than making this review longer, I say, try the series. You might like it! By the way, I found these on Kindle Unlimited. Not a bad deal, huh?

I want to say something inspiring or funny. But one degree of separation of COVID19 sucks. I am finally feeling healthy after my tooth infection and my son shows symptoms and is being tested tomorrow. 2020 sucks

Two Pair Tuesday

I have had the pleasure of having company this last week. It was a bittersweet occasion as my friend stayed here between trips to her aunt’s funeral and back home. But I was glad for her company, even if we had to be masked nearly the whole time.

While we visited I worked on a pair of slipper socks for her.

I liked them so much that I decided to make a pair for myself. Then towards the end, the cuff, I ran out of this fun purple and pink. But I had a lot of purple yarn that I don’t feel too off.

I think it looks better in real life. Besides, these are for schlepping around the house as the cooler weather comes in.

Oh, and this is how I did it. The blue Knifty Knitter (24 pegs) wide gauge. I used the Kitchener cast on, flat knit for most. German short-row for the heel. At the ankle, I made up a combo of one row e-wrap, one row u-wrap, one row flat wrap. That was to make the ankle a little looser. Then it was two-by-two e-wrap, purl cuff. These slippers became so fast for me that I could do one a day. The first one was slow as I figure it out. Wish I could do socks that quickly.

So now on to a hat and six other socks. They are fine gauged and lots slower. By the way, I’m feeling so much better!
