FINALLY! After many frogs and tinks the needle hat is finished.
The socks are all in the position last seen. I guess my hands needed a hat break.
I’m loving, well, loving hating my treadmill. I know if I keep it up I will make healthy progress.
That’s it for now. Wish I had progress on any writing. But we celebrate what we can.

Improbable Magic for Cynical Witches by Kate Scelsa

I don’t know who recommended this, but it was an insightful read. Kate uses Tarot Major Arcana to tell a piece of a teen’s confusing life. I love how we learn the cards as a story unto themselves and how it applies to Elenor’s past.
Kate Sclesa is a young adult novel, and the romances cause angst. But I loved climbing into Elenor’s thoughts and seeing how she caused her worries to grow.
Stacey Glemboski (Narrator) brought this Audible version alive with her voice acting.
Quite an enjoyable and inspiring read.

I’ll finish opening when I’m done with my current WIP. I figure it will take a couple days. In the end I’ll probably toss it. I hope I’m surprised and can add it to my lighthouse collection.

It is Fall here. 94-100 degrees during the day but leaves are littering the porch and driveway proving a huge drop at night. We have hit high 30s (F)! Can you believe it? Really, this time I’m ready to let go of what used to be my favorite season. With no chance to swim and overwhelming flies and moths, bring on the chill!
So what are my latest WIPs? Many will look familiar but believe it or not, much progress has happened.
I’m feeling much better having crackled my back by moving pillows. It quit hurting. The bladder infection seems gone. No more pain. No temp. Here’s what I took besides drinking tons of water.

The Book Woman’s Daughter by Kim Michele Richardson

I didn’t realize until the author’s note at the end of this book that this is book two of a series. So it can obviously stand alone. I was lucky to find it on Libby as an audiobook. I don’t know if the book reads with quite the accent of the narrator, Katie Schorr, but I think she adds authenticity to the story.
I don’t usually add the blurb about the book but I don’t think I could do the story justice, so:
In the ruggedness of the beautiful Kentucky mountains, Honey Lovett has always known that the old ways can make a hard life harder. As the daughter of the famed blue-skinned, Troublesome Creek packhorse librarian, Honey and her family have been hiding from the law all her life. But when her mother and father are imprisoned, Honey realizes she must fight to stay free, or risk being sent away for good.
Picking up her mother’s old packhorse library route, Honey begins to deliver books to the remote hollers of Appalachia. Honey is looking to prove that she doesn’t need anyone telling her how to survive. But the route can be treacherous, and some folks aren’t as keen to let a woman pave her own way.
If Honey wants to bring the freedom books provide to the families who need it most, she’s going to have to fight for her place, and along the way, learn that the extraordinary women who run the hills and hollers can make all the difference in the world.
It’s worth the read. May I suggest the possibility of triggers in abusive situations? Serious outcomes. But the strength of the young woman as she learns to stand up for herself is amazing.
It is worth the read. Now I am looking up book 1 and hoping it won’t be difficult to go backward. I’ll let you know later.

Why? All on it’s own is a good question. But what makes any of us think it’s personal? A better question would be, Why not? Clears it up. So rather than dwell in self pity. We can look at the bigger pictures.
Sure we can learn from our mistakes. But I’ve given up on Karma. That illness or accidents are the results of bad character. Hurricanes and quakes are not the caused by sin.
It’s best to see the problem and work out how to make life better for yourself and others. Then move on. Til the next why.
Don’t worry – you didn’t lose motivation. Perhaps you’re tired sometimes, or you stopped focusing on what really matters, or forgot to write down your goals and rev up your mind every day toward a better future. I just want you to know… you’ll figure things out and someone out here is cheering you on. […]
