Of the fictional Holocaust books I have read, this might be my favorite. How could it not? Libraries and books clubs and protection of the books, and people. All that and the intrigue of war, keeps the reader engaged. Saskia Maarleveld narrates Madeline Martin’s well-written story.
The characters are alive, making the reader feel they are flesh and blood; friends we care about.
Libby has this book, but I will have to buy my own copy. I know I will read it again and again.
