The Walking Dead Deluxe #19The Walking Dead Deluxe #19 by Robert Kirkman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Michone! Need I say more? She is why I started watching and continue to be intrigued by the series no matter what form I consume. In fact, the depth of characters, especially the female ones, grows with each new birthed version. Finally, books and shows that have true equality. Even the bad guys show their good sides, and all the others show faults to overcome.

These Kindle versions are shorter but, for a $1.99 pack quite the story. And far better than the paper comic books in that you can enlarge the font or pictures for better understanding.

More like sort of beginning.

I’m at 41,852 in the autobiography. Dividing it up like this between three months is nearly painless.

I finally got the beach sunset up. Square drills are the worst! Some are still trying to pop off. I hated my painted frame. I used too much sealant trying to keep those tiles on. So the idea of a sunset on a beach is on the wall above the piano. My dream area in Dar’s Dabbling Den, right next to my gifted Mermaid (thank you, Georgia). Yeah. Now I see they need to be straightened. And tenor recorder tried to get into the act.

I started a new diamond painting. A lighthouse. It is bigger than others I’ve done. It’s for my husband.

Here’s a quick unboxing.

Size. And look how great those symbols look. This should be easy!
It came with easy instructions.
Two pens and cushions instead of just one. At least two waxes.
Lots of little baggies.
Open on my easel in my drill catching tray/lid. The bags of colors.
Another look at the drills in baggies.
Here’s my first days work. That bit on the upper right. I had to roll up the left side to fit in my easel.
Today’s work. Play!

Knitting socks continues but less than the diamond painting. But the progress doesn’t show up much in pics, just a couple rows each.

So what have you been up to? Being retired is great!

Ta Da Tuesday

Not sure I like this. I can’t understand what I’m looking at. I still need to straighten drills, seal, and paint on the frame. I think this set of four dragons will go over my bed.

Here’s the next picture. It is harder to see than the one above.

It’s the process not the end result. So tomorrow I’ll be ‘kitting up’

Oh, and it’s snowing. I’m hoping we’re getting enough to pull us out of an exceptional draught. It sure is cold!

It’s April?

Roping in my ADD thoughts has always been a problem. And my many hobbies are just the tangible ideas. There are not enough hours in a day to do all the things I want to do.

That is one of the reasons I blog. It is a place to remind myself of my passions and thoughts that might just escape to the ether never to be seen again.

Today I got to open my next diamond painting. It is from the set of four dragons. I pulled it out randomly.

Here’s the unboxing.

I know it’s a dragon but I can’t figure out what I’m seeing.
It is a good size. And yes those are stray drills from previous paintings. Keeping the projects in an upsidedown bin lets the lid become a catch-tray.
My new container for the new project’s drills.
This one went sideways. But the point I was making was how clear the symbols are. What a relief from my first two projects.
I think I see a mommy and dragonet.
Here are the colors. The symbols are alphanumeric, yay!
The wax, tray, and pen. And the rope of drills. Well organized and easy to kit up. A lot of black! In fact, that’s what I got done today.

On another note. We walked 1.5 miles today which amounted to 49K steps. Wahoo us!

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “rope.” Use it as a noun or a verb. Have fun!

Finishing Friday

I had so hoped to be finished with my dragon tonight. But I will be by the time I go to bed. Here is where the progress stands.

So rather than chat about it, I plan to get back to it.

Just a quick side note. My husband and I walked a mile today. It was very nice. I prefer his company to Kali’s. She didn’t want to put on her harness. So she got left behind.

Back to the dragon…

Here’s the latest projects that have seen progress.

Most of the wing, arm, to the waist, done. I am loving this project. Wish my body let me stay with it more.
Charity yarns, charity socks. I think they will be striped or scrappy.

Spa sock for a gift. This is cotton and acrylic. Very soft and will work well for post bath and lotion

This wool doesn’t have enough strength to be socks so after trying and frogging twice, I decided to make a hat or two.

I did get a new scene going for editing book 2. Not as much as I want but, hey, it’s something. Progress.

We got a little rain and snow this morning, but I think we are into Spring again. The mesquite bushes are getting leaves. I do hope we get more spring showers. Our area is in exceptional level of draught. That is dryer than extreme.

Happy Spring, everyone!

This was fun today. When my glue dots quit working I used the QuickStik. It worked very well!

This is about 1/3rd done. I thought I was at the halfway point but realized that I still have part of it rolled up at the bottom. But isn’t that bird cute?

There isn’t much finished since yesterday, but the spa slipper is nearly to the heel stage.

I like this cotton blend and wish I had lots more. I think these slippers will feel quite nice on tired feet.

When I post this, I plan to write a new scene for my book rewrite. This part of the writing process is harder than that first read/edit. I have to think more while trying to keep my creative brain open to new ideas. So there’s that. I’ll let you know if the scene works out.

How’s your Friday?

Still kind of tired so the week is going slow. ☹️

I got new glasses.

$15 at Amazon. Blue Light Protection, well, what it says on the box up there. The bottom part is a 3.50 and it gradually goes less. I wish the top was just clear as I still have to glance over the top for farther away, like television. But they help a lot for reading, knitting, and Diamond Painting.

Speaking of which:

Half of the bird is done now. Oh. And I got a QuickStik. Still new at using it but some people love it. I’ll let you know later.

Oh, and using the ruler is wobbly after hitting the middle section of the picture. Again, maybe there’s a learning curve.

My friend gave me new yarn. Are you feeling the giddiness I felt receiving it? Whee! ❤️❤️❤️🤗

And this cotton blend calls to being spa slippers. Couldn’t even keep it off the loom!

I still haven’t climbed back into the editing chair. 😢 Maybe tomorrow or weekend will get me going.

It is slightly warmer lately, but the wind keeps me inside. Even so I’m cold. I’m working on my diet to see if that’s the problem. With some foods unavailable in our stores I’m needing to be creative. Time for some shifting around.

I’ll probably finish these by Sunday. I really need to learn to pull the sock off the loom and onto circular needles as I feel I’m faster doing the rib cuff that way. Actually, learning to needle knit two at a time socks is still a huge goal. But for now, there might be someone out there who needs these socks. I have a bag of things to take to our charity. I can’t wait!

More progress on the dragon. I’m loving the ruler for straighter lines.

I spent about 3 1/2 hours. I’m so addicted to the meditative energy that even when hurting I keep dotting the diamonds.

I brushed on the frame for the sunset. Not sure I like it. Maybe I’ll try to get a regular frame. Or see if I can make it nicer.

All is not lost. More paint or actual frame. I kind of like the wood feeling up near the top. But not happy with the inconsistency.

My editing seems stalled. But maybe if I plant myself at the laptop right now, I can find my way to words–good ones, I hope.

A little snow yesterday. -1 last night. We still had snowy patches today. Too cold. Tomorrow windy. And too cold. If you’re not going to be a pretty winter let’s get on with spring! I’m tired of being cold.

Meanwhile, I stay occupied.

This was where I was on Wednesday.

I decided to try the ruler.

Game changer! The symbols are easier to see and drills go on straight. It is fun as you hear a little click as the drill clears the ruler and sticks to the canvas. You can see the difference. The top of the picture I did freehand. The bottom, I used the ruler.

Because I don’t have to strain my eyes or back using the ruler, I got a lot more done.

I’m so jazzed I can’t wait to Diamond Paint tomorrow!

Just a word about the sunset beach. My brother helped me learn a way to mix colors to get the perfect frame. Problem was I ran out of the mix. The second try just didn’t match. I was told to add water and it got runny. So I let it dry. I’ll attack tomorrow. Finished Friday will have at least one item!
