Today? Editing!

What is worse than looking at a blank page?

Editing!

I spent today editing my CampNaNo story, Haven in 3D. I don’t do it like the picture, though I think I might near the end. My process is: Open yWriter project. Open Word with the RTF of that project. Then I open Grammarly Pro. Though I don’t think I am down to the words but the actual overall story, why not fix what I can as I read?

After I have cleaned up a scene in Word, I copy and paste it back into the yWriter scene and move on to the next scene. I think I added 26 words. That was a surprise because at first, I was killing words left and right.  I spent from around noon to just an hour ago. I covered one chapter and two scenes from the next chapter. I needed to do this one to have all the information I needed for the one I just finished. It is fun to get back to the spring novel. It has all my favorite Haven characters. I can’t wait to get the series up for everyone to enjoy. It could just be me. I hope not. But if so I have had a fun time living part-time in another universe!

Making Monday

Besides working on NaNo and now trying to edit a couple of my novels, These are the fun things I’m working on:

A rust color sock of wool on a CinDWood fine gauge, 56 pegs. I’m loving toe-up with the Kitchener cast-on. I can’t decide which cuff I’m wanting to do. Well, I guess it will be a surprise for all of us!

This is a fuzzy soft yarn. Sometimes, most of the time, LOL, I don’t know what it is as there are no labels on a lot of the donated yarn. I thought this would make a fun, soft hat. I did the two-by-two (two knits, two purls) brim the rest is the flat knit stitch. This is on the large KB fine gauge. So soft. It’ll probably be done by Friday!

I’m hoping this will be a pretty Boho colored hat. I don’t know if you can tell that blue is turquoise, burgundy, gold, and a sort of magenta. We’ll see. I’m making it up as I go with two strands (two colors) adding the turquoise a little at a time as I don’t have much of it. Oh, this is the KB fine gauge the next step down from the orange one. This is the set. And now I remember the orange is 80 pegs the white is 72.

But wait, there’s more!

Again, another toe-up sock on the KB Adjustable Sock Loom. This is just acrylic yarn. By the way, I find the Kitchener cast on harder on this loom. In fact, I have a harder time with the metal pegs as if it isn’t a bright color then the metal reflects and it is hard to tell if I have the whole strand of yarn.  BUT this is a strong loom and can handle a tighter tension. It will break the knitter, not the loom!

More socking it to ya!

Why do I always wait until it is dark to try and take pictures? This gray yarn is soft and has flecks of white, black and pink or lavender. It is bumpy-ish. I have no idea if these will wear well as more than just house slippers as I don’t know what the yarn is. But I’m making two pairs. This is the KB His/Hers sock loom set. I finished the sock you see on the orange, what looks like yellow on the right side, loom. I still have the heel and cuff to go. I started another the purple (His) loom. I’ve just barely got the toe done. The cuff is four-by-four. I kind of like that look.

Though I like this set. My hand like it, now, too. But for a beginner making socks, it can be tragic. I broke a couple pegs when I first started. I’ve used Gorilla Glue to put them back and working oh so gingerly I haven’t broken them again. They are inexpensive so I plan to replace them sometime.

I do have yarn to make socks with size 1 knitting cable needles but I feel I should finish a couple of things before I get started. I’m so new at needle knitting that I feel I need to stay with it until I get it right and have a good rhythm going.

Okay, back to the editing. Ugh! It was great having your encouragement along the way during NaNoWriMo. I’ll try to share some of that when I feel it is somewhat people-ready.

Third to Last NaNo Update

Aren’t you excited? Maybe soon I will be doing real blogs again. And Knitting. …And editing…

That was my one-liner. The only blogging I’ve done this month. Thank you, Linda, for an easy one!

One-liner Wednesday, NaNo Update

How’s your writing going?

This one-liner is the easiest of prompts. Especially this month! Thanks, Linda G. Hill.

Right On! NaNo Progress

Dig this! 13 X 1667 = 21,671. My exact count to the period! YaHoo!!!

And that was my One-Liner for Wednesday!

Per Linda:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “ght.” Find a word that contains the letters “ght” in that order, and use it any way you’d like. Bonus points if you use three or more different words containing those letters. Have fun!

Night is the time I get creative. There is no right and wrong of when, where, or how to do NaNoWriMo.  It is a process I have bought into, hook, line, and sinker, except I don’t fish, except for words. I haven’t started writing for today but the latest count is 13,349. Hopefully, by the end of today, I will have at least the requisite  15,003. Try as I might I can’t seem to get into it. For once it is easier to write here on the blog than any other place.

The light is good. Wish it were more bright. No, it is the thought process that is broken. I will need to fight for this day’s words. The biggest fright for me is to get behind in the wordage. Other people seem to do a ton of words and can catch up easily. Not me. I could run a marathon more than makeup words. The height of my days in November is when I post my tally and no I am ahead of the goal. Even better, to be caught up in the blight of my characters’ dilemma and the words don’t quit. The sight of a page filled with story that was fun to write is the best feeling ever!

Okay, time is getting tight.

Happy Nano! Happy Stream of Consciousness Saturday!

And adult sock bootie! And then I needed to get bootie two up and running so that I wouldn’t lose the stitch markers. So the toe on number two is done. I like the part where you get to the place you can start pulling the toe closed. I’ll probably get to that part tomorrow. Anyway, my hands are hurting and it was hard to stop knitting so I could get to my writing.

I have only written a couple hundred words so far today. But my grand total so far is {drum roll, please} 12,129. I just didn’t want to get caught up in the writing and get too distracted from getting out a blog today and not after midnight.

Have a good Friday, everyone. Get tons of words!

NaNo Update

Word count 11,751. Keeping it steady, at least.

Just in case you think all I do is write, very slowly, and nothing else is happening in my life:

Yeah, Kali isn’t impressed with NaNoWriMo. If it doesn’t involve her in my lap it is worthless.

And here is a gratuitous picture of the sunset two nights ago.

The air quality has been stagnant. We have a holding pattern of daytime highs in the low 60s and nights between high teens and twenties.

I’ve got a few socks that are almost done. Maybe one of them will hit Finished Friday???

Hope all of you are doing well. I hope my fellow NaNo-ers are getting words out the kazoo!

One-Liner Wednesday/NaNo Update

Don’t ya just love it when a character from one book meets the new characters in the new book?

Thank you, Linda G. Hill, for One-liner Wednesday. The easiest prompt there is!

This has been the best writing day yet. As you can see I am done with more than the number of words I need for today. 10,145 I may write more words later as I am so excited that Dusty, a flamboyant, gene-popper from, I think, my third novel, Dusty’s Love Lair, just met Walter at Walter Balter’s Dance Studio. Now the story is writing itself! Yay!

NaNo Day 5

Well, this seems to be how NaNo is working for me. I have it open all day. 1,667 seems a lot of words! EVERYDAY! But I still type away and get there before midnight. I just don’t want to put off blogging until midnight. So the score is 7,961. I’m supposed to be at 8,335. So close and yet so far!!!!! Sometimes 410 words are the hardest to get. But I will. I know it! My main character just landed on a planet. That should be worth some words right there, don’t you think? I hope you are all doing well, NaNo or No. Good luck with your writing! (Oh, and I am still doing knitting, so…)
