Per Linda G. Hill:  Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “open book, point, write.” Pick up the closest book to you when you sit down to write your post. Close your eyes, open the book, and place your finger on the page. Whatever word or phrase your finger lands on, write about it. Enjoy!

From  Zen Doodle Mindscapes Tap Into Your Emotions by Carolyn Scrace :

Page 98/99 Joy and Happiness

“Joy descends gently upon us like the evening dew,

and does not patter down like a hailstorm,” Jean Paul

This is a book about Zen Doodling. I don’t have a lot of paper books close at hand to grab so this is what I did grab. The two pages were beautiful showing ways you can get to the emotion of Joy drawn, expressed in your artwork. I haven’t read to the page. I am still at the beginning of the book learning about the Zen Doodle rather than what I thought it was, the Zen Tangle. Not sure what the difference is. It seems from my newbie point of view that the doodle is a freer art than the Tangle. When I finish this book and the other I nabbed a bit ago, I might be able to answer that question.

I’m not sure I agree with Jean Paul about Joy.  I think Joy is a state of mind we can have even when all seems bad. For me, it seems Joy is a product of gratefulness and knowing you are living your best life. Not that life is all good but that you realize you have a love for life as it is for there is hope for what feels wrong and you are giving what you can for others. Joy isn’t giddy like getting on a rollercoaster. It’s a midline that if you breathe and get calm you can find it.

It’s going to be interesting to see if I can express it in my art.

Have a Joyful Weekend everyone!

One-Liner Wednesday–At Last!

I put up the monkey picture up yesterday and tried to think of a One-Liner, then realized it was only Tuesday!

One-Liner Wednesday is a Linda G. Hill gem!

Oooooo! I Wanna Make!

From LoomaHat.com another cute pattern. Can’t wait to try!

Silence is not my favorite. In fact, for the last week or so, my favorite part of the day is afternoon when the thunderstorms start. Even today, I had to shut down my computer after the one-one thousand, two-one thousand then BOOM! And shortly after we would see something like this:

lights our sky. I leave the curtains open as long as I can to catch the show. By the way, that was a shot from Pixabay. Wish I could take photos like that!

Anyway, you would think that when the storm moves on it would be silent. Nope. We have frogs that croak whole stories to each other the rest of the night. Only in early morning do they finish their ribbing.

(Pixabay.com)

Early morning is never silent. I think every bird in all creation hang out near our house. I take the dog out for the first ‘outside’ and the chirps and cackles and cock-a-doodles can almost deafen you.

(Pixabay.com)

Even when we turn off the TV and sleep for the night our house shakes with noise. Every person in this house snores, even the dog and cats.

(Not a picture of any of our cats, yep, Pixabay.com)

I think I would freak out if silence ever overcame my world. I would expect an earthquake or a need to invest in hearing aids.

Thank you, Linda G. Hill for this Stream of Consciousness Saturday challenge.

Not waiting until the last day of the month. Luckily this is May and there are 31 days! 🙂 Here’s my May project Empty first then color-penciled (noun becomes a verb!).

This guy was fun to work with. Imagine a colorful feathered dragon!

Here’s next month’s dragon (butterfly dragon?):

Thank you, Linda G. Hill, for this fun challenge!

One-Liner Wednesday

Yesterday’s sunset was gorgeous all the way around. Today is the same. (Sorry for three sentences–power outages, thunder and lightning distractions!)

Thank you, Linda G. Hill for #1linerWed!

Linda’s prompt for this SoCS is Rosy. Which I am going to change to Rosey. You’ll see why. I hope.

In many parts of the country, we are experiencing a lag in the Spring-ness. It is so all-encompassing that this meme is showing up on our FaceBook feeds.

I say that because here is it windy and raining a LOT. The good part is that it might forestall fires. But the wind doesn’t and the rain comes with lightning, so– not so much. Anyway, I was forced to take the dog (Kali) out as is her way. I opened the screen door and the wind nearly tore it out of my hand. I nearly closed it on Kali and the wind had it again. Now I see this black creature climbing down the steps as Kali was climbing back up.

Rosey and Teddy are the indoor cats. Too many predators to let them be outside. So I ran down the steps in my socks and picked up Rosey.  She’s usually a sweetie and so cute, see:

But as I pick her up and tell Kali to go up and in the house, Rosey turns and does this to me:

I didn’t even know she drew blood until after I sat down. I was FaceTiming with friends and I showed them. They had me leave the conversation to clean it and treat it so it wouldn’t get infected.

Today as I was trying to finish a couple more dolls, Kali and Rosey sat on my lap, I think to make it up to me, but it makes it hard to sew with those two taking up the lap-space.

(This picture wasn’t taken today. I wasn’t on my bed in my PJs! And they were on reversed sides! But you get the idea!)

So where was I? Oh yeah! I finished my last dolls. The last thing I do is put a dab of color on their cheeks giving them a rosy glow.

I won’t include the tute here. as I shared it on yesterday’s blog. But I think I am done with the dolls for a while. I have to sew some other toys in the next couple of days. This feeling of accomplishment gives my soul a rosy glow that nearly matches my Rosey scratches! 😀

One-Liner Wednesday

I have a yarn or two to tell you, but this is ONE-liner Wednesday.

No this isn’t about Mamas and the Papas. Just couldn’t figure a good title for this small bloggy. Besides, bet that earworm took! 😀

I don’t have enough time to gather all the looms to do a Make-it Monday: Two sock-looms are in use, there are a few dolls I need to stuff and sew closed, a little hat for a doll on the littlest loom, a baby hat on the next bigger, all in process and nothing near finished product.

So, while knitting, binging, right? Tried Royal Pain but too flirty and not enough medical to keep my interest. I’ll try again later. Instead, I went for an old favorite that has added new seasons: Call the Midwife. I love that show. I miss Miranda (Chumie) but the newer cast is still sweet. One of the best parts of this show is following women and health issues over the past couple of centuries. If you were there at the beginning, there were few cars only bicycles. They even went through war.

I’m at about 1962 in a most recent episode. They talk about Kennedy and Cuba crises. So it isn’t just the women’s health it shows what else is going on in the world at the time. On the last episode, they showed the results of the drug given for morning sickness back then Thalidomide.

This show doesn’t hold back when it comes to things women have been through over the years. I do so wish the midwife was a more acceptable way for birth. My last two were homebirths so I have a love for that kind of birth. Don’t get me wrong. There is a good reason to have hospitals and doctors on hand, but I think the woman to woman care is missing for those who need to go to the hospital.

My second experience in the hospital were people running around yelling the phones were out. My first was a most uncomfortable affair with not the slightest care as to what I wanted or what baby and I actually needed. I studied a lot about being a midwife, but by the time I had babies three and four, I didn’t have the time or energy to go for it. So this show helps fulfill some of that. I find I love all the characters and how well they tell the story. And that music gets me going! I can guarantee that I will shed at least a tear with every viewing! This is a herstory that everyone should watch and maybe get the other side of history.

This would have been the extent of our day. But GoT brought pizza and excitement, and tears. So sad it’s ending. So sad about Dany. I am happier than I thought I would be with the last show. And hopeful for any sequels. I almost feel I should write my own ending to feel totally happy. In case any out there haven’t seen it, read no further!

What does Arya find?

What will happen north of the wall now?

Are there more dragons elsewhere, could a red woman out there help Dany?

Will Bran warg some dragons?

Will Greyworm set the people free in Narth?

Will Asha find happiness?

So many questions I hope that will someday be answered!

But mostly, will Kali ever get to go outside again?
