Washcloth Wednesday

Second Try

I used the same pattern as I did before but used the larger gauge Knifty Knitter 24-peg loom. It was much easier on my hands and I think the scrubby itself is easier to handle. I think I am going to gift this one.

Just in case, here is the tutorial again.

I don’t know if this counts as a One-Liner Wednesdaybut let’s go check out Linda’s site for the fun prompt anyway.

Toe-Ups Past Heels

I’m going to call this pair of socks, Stand socks. That is because I have been listening to the audio-library copy of The Stand.

We are at 91% in the book. I say ‘we’ because off and on either my husband or my son were sitting in on the listening. Now we can’t wait to finish so we can watch the newer version which is supposed to be on CBS All Access. I think we have that.

Without further ado, I’m going back to the story.

That pipe is for the thought bubbles. LOL!

A Scrubby!

I used 32 pegs of a KB Hers of a His and Hers Sock kit. The yarn is Scrubby Cotton. And it hurts and is hard to purl with. Since the pattern calls for one-row knit and one-row purl. that second row of each part of the garter stitch took me forever! And it hurt from pulling and pushing the little texture knots through the former stitch. The knit rows were easy-peasy. This took me a day and a half. Partly because I had to frog it due to the first loom, the wood with metal pegs sock loom, I think it is a KB also. I tried to pull the stitches onto a circular needle but the loom crunched apart in my hands so I just frogged the project. My brother was able to fix the broken loom back to new. But meanwhile, I just grabbed the Hers loom and started again.

If I had attempted this pattern by crocheting I think it would have been finished in an hour. Maybe it was the yarn and I should try it with the yarn recommended in Kristen’s tutorial. I think I’ll go order some of that when I get finished with this report. Here’s the Youtube tutorial again. I know! You watch this while I do a dish or two so I can report how it does its job.

Did you enjoy it? Yeah. I know. I was on my own doing those dishes. Oh, well. Oh, yeah. The dishrag easily did the job my scrubby sponge could. So there’s that. By the way, GoodKnitKisses has a left-handed tutorial, too.

I still have my craft project taking up the whole coffee table. Oh well, I think the family is used to me. They all have places to call their own. I lost my hobby room when my son moved in. So if anyone has a complaint… No one does. They are pretty mellow guys with their own hobbies so…

Speaking of guys, As of today, I have been married to this terrific man for 17 years. We’ve been together as of the fourth of July 25 years. Go us!!!

Oh, and it was a Monday because the Easy Writers group Zoomed. I do enjoy getting with this group of ladies. Each seems to have unique personalities and styles. Anyway, that answers the What Day Is It Anyway question. #WDIIA

Happy Monday

and

So the laptop is still getting scans. So I’ll have to blog a quickie.

Trash, check.

Knitting charity socks. Check

Finished watching Another Life. Check. I can’t wait for season two. Here is a link to the trailer (I hope)

Spent most of the day listening to the library audio of The Stand. It is due back in eight days.

Everyone here is fine. We’re trying to find the bright side of life.

How are you all doing?

Hopefully, I will have my computer back tomorrow.

I feel like dancing! Shouting to the rooftops!

I didn’t start out that way this morning. I felt I would never finish the socks and I needed a quick win. So in about an hour, I knitted this little cutie.

Knifty Knitter 24 peg loom. Fold-over brim. Flat knit stitch. Drawstring cast-off. Pom-pom on the smallest pom-pom maker. I think it gave me the juice I needed to finish the socks.

The top pair are for my daughter, the bottom pair are for her boyfriend. Soon to be in the mail to them. Totally made with love. These were made on the KB His (purple) and Hers (orange) sock looms. All four were made toe-up with the Kitchener Cast-on. Flat knit stitch. I varied the cuff in that daughter’s is four-by-four ribbing, and boyfriend’s cuffs are two-by-two ribbing. It was quite a learning experience. I was still feeling the magic as I finished to see that the stripes are so matched that they seem store-bought. I do have enough of this yarn leftover that I can make me a pair, too. But I have other things to finish first.

Much of my time lately is working on a crafty project I hope to give friends. That has me shaky as I have not spent a lot of time, lately, on artsy/craftsy things. But it is fun and I think it will feel more confident as I keep trying. We’ll see.

Meanwhile, I have been experimenting with yarn masks. I have a lighter weight one that I hope to create on that will be comfortable in the summer. I’ve ordered bamboo yarn because it is allergy-free, and has tons of benefits for the wearer.

As a bonus, this was our sunset:

I have been looking for a loom knitting pattern for a yarn mask. I know it isn’t PPE. It is something that I can wear with kleenex, paper towels, or coffee filters to catch my own airborne germs. So I followed Cassie’s Fun Creations on YouTube.

This was my first and then my hands made two more after. Each time I learned a little more.

I had so many things I was going to do today. But darn that yarn and the loom ganged up on me!

Looking at the picture, I am missing my reddish blondish hair. I may have to order a box of I bet I could mix just half and have enough for this short hair. I’m only trying to fool my eyes into thinking I have more energy than the natural mousey gray.

For the record, and not to complain, my son was icky yesterday, hubby today and now my tummy is not happy. We haven’t eaten the same things so I’m thinking an intestinal flu? I took Pepto and it helped a little. I know it isn’t a symptom of the COVID19. Besides I still have no fever. I did take a long nap. I feel I could sleep more. The guys didn’t feel the need to have a bucket nearby. All of our allergies are going absolutely crazy. I think the wind from last week stirred a lot of dust and pollen up. All the more reason for my masks with filters.

Okay, that’s all I have the energy for, Carry on.

Yay! I finished sock #1 for my daughter’s boyfriend.

Now I just need to finish the ribbing on sock #2. It is the slowest part of the sock for me but I am learning to relax and let it help bring me peace in these ugly times.

Meanwhile, we got caught up in Tales from the Loop on Amazon. It is interesting.

It has some sad parts but it is a show to make you think. That is a nice change!

What are you watching? What are your accomplishments for the day?

#WDIIA

What a great day this was! I finished a lot of editing and a little writing on Pandamapocalypse.

Then I completed daughter’s socks! At Last!!!!!

These were toe-up, Kitchener cast-on. Mostly flat knit stitch. Four-by-four ribbing with purls and true-knit stitch. And that last bit was the hard part. True-knit feels like purling and so I had to watch what I was doing all the time. I know there are people who love that stitch but I just can’t get a good rhythm going. Oh, and that is the Hers loom of the KB His/Hers set. I now have three sets but the last two sets are smaller than the first set that I actually broke a peg. I like the smaller set. They have the same amount of pegs but the feel is better. Now on to the boyfriend’s socks, yeah I still have the ribbing to go.

While sitting here being productive the sky put on quite the show:

In spite of the fact that it is supposed to be Spring, we are still only in the 50s during the day and freezing and below at night. Remind me in August and September how I complained as we have fires during 100-degree heat. I’ll apologize. I promise! And with skies like the above, the complaint is only a minor one.

I hope you all had good days and are remaining healthy.

I am so excited! Some of the things I ordered from a small business came today!

That huge X? I can make four socks and a hat at the same time on the same loom! There are two hooks, both are great! The little loom attached to the yellow yarn cause I couldn’t resist working with a loom key chain has twelve pegs. I think I’m making a yellow snake. The one attached to the red yarn? I couldn’t resist a tiny sock (24 pegs). I nearly forgot to blog or do my Duolingo I was having so much fun! I can’t wait to get started on my X-Wing. No, not the official name. CinDWood actually calls it the X-loom. 3/8 XL Scarlett Royal has a lot of YouTubes for all three of these looms. Here’s just one:

That is a smaller X loom. I can’t wait to start playing.

Oh, and I got this from Ebay:

It seemed bigger on the site. But I think I can make it work.

Okay, time to go play! Oh, and the trash is out so I know it is Thursday and will be Friday in an hour!

This is what I’ve been spending most of my day on:

Oh, and when my brain didn’t work I started these:

Both for charity.

When sitting got too much and it was gorgeous outside, Kali and I took a zoomie walk/run around the property. She’d run ahead and hide and jump out with what looked like puppy-laughs and I walk-ran to keep up with her to find her. It was so much fun. I doubt I hit a thousand steps, but it was more than I would have had in the bad temps of last week. I hope we get better at this so I can improve and lengthen our walks.

This What Day Is It Anyway I think is Tuesday. Cinco de Mayo/Taco Tuesday was plastered all over FaceBook. But I don’t spend a lot of time over there. So in my day, I lost the day many times. I took a fibro-flare seriously over the weekend and all day Monday. So I missed my writers’ group. The reason is that the pain was too much to keep my brain working. I had even started my prompt a few times. I knew where I was headed with it. But then I couldn’t hold my laptop without it hurting. I hate fibro for its way of deceiving me. I’m not sure about whether or not it isn’t the flu or covid or… It is only when it gives up that I know it was a flare. It was worse when I was working. I couldn’t tell, how do you call your boss and say, I don’t know if I can work today. It feels only tired, hard to wake up. It is only when it hurts so bad that I know I can’t be at work. It is only the aftermath of one step too far that lets me know. Remember exercise that you do 10 steps today, and increase to 20 tomorrow? I used to be able to make big increases and improve lots every day. No way can I do that now. 10 today 4 tomorrow, zeros and back to 10. If not flare. It is hard to know when it is too much. I always feel like such the ‘Fairweather friend’ in that suddenly I’m not there where I wish I were. If it were just pain, I could do it. But suddenly there are no words. Then the next day you wonder if that were true. Did it really hurt that much? And how long was I out? Well, shoot! I missed a weekend and Monday. So here is Tuesday.
