Just a Quick Update

No picture because 6 feet of one panel and nearly 6 feet of one side panel is too wobbly to hold up. So stay tuned. I hope to have the Afghan finished by Monday. Wish me luck! Taking Advil and getting back to work.

Finishing Friday

The center section of the Afghan is nearly finished. My son is holding it up to show how long it is. I do have one side panel nearly as long. I still need to make yet another panel then sew up the three parts. For this mid section I’ve been using a size K ChiaoGoo Tunisian cable hook. I’ll be glad when this is done. I don’t like working on something this big.
When I just can’t crochet another moment I’m working on another pair of Sneaker socks. I need another half inch of this arch part. Ribbing is beginning to be more fun since working Continental. These are ChiaoGoo Red-lace Circular Needles 2.

I don’t have a pattern for the Afghan. Just the basic Tunisian Crochet stitch. It is getting boring, but I think it’ll be warm.

This is what I’m using for the socks.

Have a great weekend!

Finishing Friday

This is a part of the first panel I started on. It was my first try at Tunisian Crochet.
It goes on and on! See the wooden ball? I think that is only supposed to be at the end of the cord on the Tunisian Crochet hook’s cable. But I found this one moved. It is quite handy. The width of the panel is slightly wider than the end of the hook. That meant that a few stitches would get stuck on the cable part. Pushing that ball up tight to the hook keeps my stitches right there, so I didn’t have to work so hard.
… and the panel goes on. I’m aiming for 6′, and I need to make a matching panel to this one.
This is how the hook and little ball look.
This is the colorful middle panel that needs a lot more length. When I get to the only one loop, last stitch on a row, I will pull it out, put the stitch holder and the tension ring on that loop. Then I roll or now, fold it up and use the hook and cable to hold it all together. This hook is a Chiaogoo Tunisian Hook, and the little ball doesn’t move. But for this wider panel, it is better opened out because I am using most of that cable.
This is how I hold the yarn with the tension ring. I have one of those rings for each of the panels. It helps keep my hands from hurting while holding the tension within my fingers. It still hurts because this is all the same stitch and gets tiring, but the rings help a lot.

Making Monday

I am in the middle of so many projects right now that I thought I’d dedicate this one to a want to make. A Fingerknit hat!

I’d also like to make a shawl, poncho, or cape for my witch costume.

I have two pairs of knitted socks nearly finished. And a Tunisian Crocheted afghan is in the works. But I will need a couple more pieces for my costume at my daughter’s costume wedding reception. So I am putting my ideas here so I won’t lose them.

Okay, I guess I should share the pics of what’s been done so far. All this needs to be done by the first week in October.

Remember the Hiya-Hiya Flyer pair of socks? I decided to put them on a long Chiaogoo Red Lace 60″ US 1 needle. I need to finish the foot and then the toe.

These are going to someone with small feet. I’m finding I don’t like doing cuff up socks.
These are Toe-up Two At A Time Sneaker Socks. I’m working on the arch section now.
This is the center section of the Tunisian Crochet Afghan. Notice how this stitch curls. I have to weigh it down with the mouse and the remote. But I like how fabrickie it looks. When I’m done I’ll do an edging to de-curl.

Here is one of the outer panels of the Tunisian Crochet Afghan. It is almost as long as I want it. It’s so long I can’t capture it in a close-up anymore.

Because of the curl, I roll the project up against the curl and store like this.

I know I have a couple other projects but these are the ones I’m trying to concentrate on.

Finishing Friday

Another try at the Sneaker Sock.

This time I used the Turkish Cast-on. But since I think I understand the rest of the pattern now, I think I’ll give it one more try. The next stage is an arch ribbing to keep the sock snug.

I’m happy with the first pair but hope to improve. For the pattern and tutorial click back a couple days on this blog

Making Monday

With this much yarn in two skeins, I see a lot of Sneaker Socks. Toes already started.
5 miles in less than 30 minutes. Not by much but not bad for a Monday.

Those seem to be the highlights of the progress of the day. Except we’re nearly finished with all 15 seasons of ER. That should earn some prizes!🤣

Yay!

So comfortable! They’ll be great in Sneakers!

Now I have to try another pair. See if I’ve figured it out. I shared the tutorial but you can buy the pattern here

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “pick a number.” Choose a number—any number—and write about it any way you’d like. Have fun!

Thanks, Linda!
Yarn vomit, again!

For the umpteenth time I’m ripping out the heel of this sock. This is a frustrating part of learning something new. I’ve not enjoyed needle knitted wrap and turns. ADD claims me and I lose my place. A LOT.

That was why I found the Fleegle Heel so helpful. It’s kind of funny, I enjoyed wrap and turns on the loom. But it was easy to see where I left off, most of the time.

This new method is a variation of the wrap and turn. It’s a Shadow Wrap. It does look nicer, almost disappearing into the fabric.

I’m looking forward to trying Fishlip socks. But I have to finish my No See Sneaker Socks first.

There’s a reason this is where my stream took me , for the umpteenth time. I’ll get it yet!🤪😂🤣
