I thought the 11:11 one was only one my friends and I shared. I was so glad to find it. As for the straw wrappers… The manufacturers of late make it difficult to take the wrapper off. It is so tight. But I used to us the wrapper for decisions. This guy or that? Should I ask for this or that? This name of baby or that? Should I stay or go? Any either or. But now I end up ripping the wrapper trying to get it off the straw. Thanks for sharing. I learned some new ones!

Wishbone. I donโt know about your family, but in mine everybody wanted the wishbone. After the turkey has been fully dismantled, the wishbone is set aside to dry. Later, two people take one prong and pull until it snaps. Whoever is holding the prong with the top still connected is gonna get their wish.
Straw Wrappers. This is similar to the wishbone. Remove the paper from the straw and tie a knot in it. One person pulls at each end until the paper tears, and whoever has the knot gets their wish.
Eyelashes. If an eyelash falls out accidentally (donโt pull it!), put it on the back ofโฆ

Sorry I’m late to the SOCS, Linda G Hill, I was busy with all my PROJECTS. Yes, all those knitting projects have kept me going all day. I am nearly finished with one or two but they take the kind of concentration one needs as they learn new stitches. YouTube tutoring included. I’ll share again when finished.
Part of the reason I am late to the party was the weather. Yep, we got snow again, but with this system rolling in the bones and fibromyalgia knocked me for a loop and when I get to that stage the only thing I can do is nap and hope to wake with less pain. And that did work. Of course that means I may be up for another hour or so catching up on everything I should have been doing at naptime.
If it helps, I am reading your book: All Good Stories, now and hope to be finished tomorrow some time. It is fun.
Well, that’s all I got for now.
Because I love her books and her blog. I have to share! I feel she has given me quite the education of all things Japan.
This falls in with some of my thinking lately.
How do we draw the line on compassion? Most of us have it, to some degree or another. It begins with learning how to share, in our toddler years. Which is probably one of the reasons those of us who lack it tend to bring up children who lack it too. Does it begin with consumerism? With the idea that if we work hard for something, itโs ours? Perhaps.
Where do we draw the line on who weโre willing to share with? We have compassion, naturally, for our family and friends. For those we care about who we have met. But how about the strangers we pass every day on the street? How about people who are marginalized and bulliedโฆ by even some of our governments? From the outside looking in, it seems to me there are two types of people โ those who believe they and they alone areโฆ
