A2Z CampNaNo E 20190405

Wow! Just Wow! I had nearly a thousand words written. E was a difficult prompt. Again I used a random generator and grabbed twenty E-words. When I had a few paragraphs ready to move over here I selected and control V-ed instead of control-C. All gone! I was pretty proud of it. But no one will ever see that version. So again I have over a thousand words, I still need the 600 but thought I’d take a break and post my first half of the scene. Sorry if it is confusing. I’ve been with these planets and characters since 2001. I think they cover about fourteen books. A lot has been reviewed in scenes or paragraphs I’m not sharing here. I am merely sharing the parts that show I am doing the A-to-Z challenge in my own way.

Haven in 3D

Earth heard the dragons and High Council. She knew Haven was In trouble. Way back when Earth was in her emergency, Haven imparted knowledge, wisdom, and abilities that Earth didn’t have or she wasn’t aware of before. At first, when she tried to contact the councils her sound echoed through the cavern. Once the communication was established she was able to impart her willingness to be of aid any way she could. She wasn’t as experienced as Haven, Earth felt like an embryo in comparison, still, she felt that in the end, she could be effective on many levels.

Enelrad endorsed Earth. She’d been a part of the project to save Earth. She had even helped repair damages Earth had sustained. Maybe Earth could be of service to the hatred emboxed, ethically-strained-Xeno. The dragon felt she could ensure that Earth could meet any expectations a planet could need. Still, Enelrad was wondering if she had been in the right to tell anyone, even her mate, Sirhc. She hoped all of this wasn’t in error.
Everyone agreed to lend their help in any way they could. Suddenly someone said, What was that?

They all stood still and the earth beneath them shook as they hear a loud explosion. In one blink the dragons had exited the cave and headed east. They gathered at the elbow in the path that led up the mountain that Beth, Judy, and Anna used to hike. Only it wasn’t there anymore. It was as if the top of the mountain had been sliced off. Instead, ash was spewing. A Volcano! In a few minutes, the dragons and the mountainside were covered in what looked like a winter’s storm’s worth of snow.

Ora Ja Ja AKA Haven in 3-D

Daniel Christopher AKA Sirhc the dragon

Dragons understand discrimination.” Sirhc as the autistic, toe-head little boy, Daniel Christopher, climbed on a desk in the room with Beth, Haven as Ora, and Enelrad as Susan. Daniel nodded at Enelrad and she nodded back. Things needed to be said. “We learned the hate that humans had against anything different than themselves. We learned to disappear, blend in with our surroundings. A few people discovered dragons after a while. We departed the populated places. We were drawn to the dryer, distant lands people found hard to survive. It was a damn shame as there are a lot of ways dragons could donate to the domain of humans.

“I have been playing this boy for a couple of years now. I started out as a five-year-old. I had studied for this role. I wish I could describe the way humans treated children like me. They would drown newly delivered babies, or in other ways deprive them of life if they were deformed in any way. Later Earthlings found that these developmentally challenged babies were worthy of love. By learning how to love them and adapt with them, they found those like me useful. We were able to contribute to society.

“But let’s think about this in another way. Let’s make the diameter of the circle of acceptance larger, more inclusive. Is a person only worth something if they can earn money? The elderly and the infant should not only be worthy of love just for being themselves but feel worthy within themselves. The disabled aren’t worthless. This has been a part of an old democracy that caused division. I don’t think that was what the Declaration of Independence was all about. It shouldn’t be that those who weren’t dollar makers would be a deficit to the world.

“Humans had set up a dominance that said only the healthy and wealthy were meant to be alive. Such a distortion of how life should be defined. It leads to depression, dispair, death and destruction. Disagreements against these standards were met with disagreement that grew into wars. Those that were different were shamed and defeated. Are only those with the bigger guns the better humans? We dragons could have killed all of you!

“Instead we doubled down. We played the diplomat as we integrated ourselves, as humans into the population at large. We couldn’t delay the distribution of love and acceptance. The drift that divided the haves and have-nots had grown to valleys, not gulleys. Defeat was no option. Was it difficult? Of course! It took more than a decade to repair the destruction caused by the greedy. The daughter of love was lost in the desert of disdain. Death and decay of the human spirit was something we dragons could smell. We needed to draft a new definition of worth for not only humans but all lives.

“Once we got their attention, we had to find a way to decrease the hate. Give a medicine that didn’t lead to death. A dose or two here and there and soon we had folks that would help us repay the debt to society. No more denying life, killing or deporting the living. Yeah, there were times we had to duke it out. But more often than not, we used our words to heal the distance between folks. We taught humans to divorce from fear and hate because of misunderstanding. We dug deep into our souls to reach others. We were in the Earth’s courthouse. Love was the defendant. Now that district of the Universe is healing. Though fear and hatred are dormant, humans are caring for each other. The dressing on the cake was how much they learned from those that used to be considered unworthy.”

Ora (Haven) stood tall, adjusted her dress and started the applause. Daniel handed a disk to Beth as he descended. He smiled as he snorted a small thread of smoke. It was then that he noticed that there were at least twenty people in the room beside Beth, Ora, and Susan. Taking back on his disability, he ran out of the room avoiding eye-contact or touch.

Not everyone was clapping. Some were frowning. Some seemed threatening. Beth grabbed Ora by one hand and Susan grabbed her other. They disappeared so that they, too, could leave the room safely. There was a lot of tension in the room and this was a fight for those who lived on Xeno. Hopefully, they had heard all little Daniel had to say. But just like the dragons, he had offered the water, now these people had to decide to drink.

The above was the first scene I wrote today in Haven in 3D for CampNaNo. My word count is current (1,666 a day) at 6,765 words.  I wrote the above using a word generator for the letter D. I think I had 20 D-words. I think I used most of them.

I realize that only sharing bits and pieces may be confusing. This is the only way I can feel I am doing the A-to-Z challenge and CampNaNo. You don’t need to see the story bit by bit as I write it as if you think the above has errors, realize I am trying to write as fast as the story comes to me. In the long run, a lot will change. Hopefully for the better.

How was your Thursday? Are you doing CampNaNo? How’s it going over there for you?

“Carefully, Beth cracked open the door checking for children who might be cowering nearby.”

____________

How’s that! Bam! Covered it all! (See what I did there? Leftover B with current C.) The above is the first line I wrote today. One-Liner Wednesday is one of Linda G. Hill’s gems.

A-to-Z April Challenge starts out here. Today’s letter, if you hadn’t guess by now is:

CampNaNo can be found here. I’ve only added 14 words today making my total 4,017. I’m writing a novel called Haven in 3-D. This the cover for now:

It is in my series that starts with Haven my first novel doing NaNoWriMo. I’m mostly using yWriter to get me going. Enough commercials?

How’s your day? I better get busy lots of errands before I can write!

A-to-Z challenge

Bewildered. That’s how Haven felt. She’d have to believe that it would be easy to be human. Now her tummy was hurting. This must be why the humans needed bathrooms. She could feel that her bowel was protesting. She knew she needed some privacy.

She moved around to see if there was an edge to her dimensional bubble. It wasn’t something she could feel with her hands. So she couldn’t quite tell where her dimension ended and Beth’s began. She turned around and reached down into the bushes and grasses to see if her hand went through them could touch them. Sometimes she didn’t feel the grass. Sometimes she did. They didn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason where one dimension started and the other ended. She was of the belief that there was an edge.

A breeze wafted by her face. She hadn’t noticed any wind before. Maybe this was where she could get out of her dimension and into Beth’s. A beam of light crossed her field of vision. She heard a growl. She recognized that voice. She cleared her thoughts and got very quiet so that she could catch the broadcast of Enelrad’s thoughts.

“We’re trying to bring you to our dimension.” She heard Enelrad say.

“Enelrad. Don’t tell anybody, but this is me, Haven.” She sent a quick thought movie of what she had done and what she had planned. “I hope I can play the human whose name is Ora Ja Ja. Please don’t tell Beth! I want to practice being human. I want to see the situation on Xeno”

“Who is taking care of the planet?”

“No one. I think it can go on for a while without me.”

The dragon sent thoughts of doubt. What if someone needs healing? What if meteorites fall again? What if other beings on the planet start failing in some way? Your closest aid is Beth and she’s here!

_____

The above is the first few paragraphs in today’s writing for my CampNaNo project I’ve titled: Haven in 3D. Here’s my synopsis:

Haven the sentient planet has learned to travel to other worlds, times, and dimensions while maintaining Her own world. What does She look like? What could possibly happen to this unearthly body?

Today was slower than yesterday but I am up to 4,003 of the 50k finish line on April 30th. So far, so good.

A2Z CampNaNo April 1st 2019

Alone

Here are a few lines of the 2,281 words I manage today.

___________

“Alone. No one is alone on this planet. Anyone alone is different. We must try to help her.”

The invisible voice changes.

“She doesn’t seem to be looking anywhere. She doesn’t seem to be moving. How can anyone stand that still?”

A woman is standing looking back over a hill, dressed in a long white dress with green trim, a straw hat with a pink ribbon around the brim, dark brown hair pinned up and peaking out under the hat. She stands right arm facing the observers, left arm crooked on the other side.

“What do you think she’s holding in her right arm?”

I did make the commitment to doing 50,000 words this month in CampNaNo. I have to admit that it is going very well. The story is telling itself. The planet Haven is finding hard to be human. A lot of her power is gone. At the same time, she is learning humility. Ever tried to get into a planet’s mind? Not so easy!

Last night I took this of our sunset. Why is it that it never looks like I see it in the picture? The red/orange was so bright against that dark blue that I nearly fainted at the sight.

By the way, I spent today working on first my set up for writing tomorrow and then went through some of my old books. I will need some of the old characters and places and planets from before so I didn’t want to forget where I’ve been in the Haven series.

Speaking of the Haven series, which you can read in full on Wattpad, I added chapter three to Haven 1-3. I hope to get some comments to help me make it a better story. It isn’t finished with the editing procedures, nor is the story ended after about 10 added books in the series.

Okay back to the Walking Dead season finale. Hope you’re enjoying your Sunday.

Wow! It is Saturday again, so soon!

Per Linda G. Hill:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “dough/d’oh.” Use one, use both, use ’em any way you like. Enjoy!

I choose D’oh! I would use a picture of drooling Homer Simpson here but figure that has to be a copyright infringement.

I was not only surprised at the sudden appearance of Saturday but of the sudden appearance of April and that means:

No. Not NaNoWriMo. But CampNaNo. (Couldn’t find an icon for that). And that sudden realization put me in a rush to get ready. After a day of reinstalling WriteItNow.

And setting up for choosing characters and a place to figure out plots, etc.

And because I can’t seem to put my own pictures in I made sure to install the latest version of yWriter, where I usually do my writing.

After watching OA I was inspired that they could actually keep writing on that show through infinity as there are that many possible dimensions. Then I remembered that postcard my friend sent:

I felt there was a story there. But I didn’t feel like writing historical fiction of the Little House on the Prairie has already been done.

Then suddenly the picture and OA crashed in my head and I think I have a synopsis. As I wrote in the CampNaNo info:

Haven the sentient planet has learned to travel to other worlds, times, and dimensions while maintaining Her own world. What does She look like? What could possibly happen to this unearthly body?

Haven hasn’t talked to me lately but this looks like fun and a lot of potential problems to work out.

OH but then I realized that this is:

So I challenge myself to somehow do both. Maybe what I blog for A2Z will show up in the story or vice versa.

Do you think I will ever get these novels out there and make some dough?

(Did you see what I did there?)

SmilodonSmilodon by Alan Nayes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

My husband seemed really excited about a book he was reading. He even brought it into the living room with his headset while I was watching some show. He doesn’t usually read during the day. He is usually on the computer during the day. So I asked him about the book. It sounded exciting. I was able to borrow it on Kindle.

He was right it was right. It was exciting.

Anyone who reads my reviews know I am on a mission to read mostly female authors with strong female characters. After all, I spent my first sixty years like most people, reading mostly male authors and male characters. This book didn’t fit my new goal. But my husband convinced me that is was intriguing. So I couldn’t resist.

I have to admit that the first few chapters were boring. It was male heavy. And the only females were eye-candy. The main female (secondary character) was the ranger in charge but was seldom given her due of being in charge.

Beyond those complaints, the Smilodon part of the story was exciting. Imagine a creature that big that takes over a park! I don’t want to give any spoilers. It is well worth the read, but maybe not at night. It was hard to sleep after!

Foreshadowing Dragons

I lost my favorite photo editing app when my computer died recently. So these pictures may not be very clear. Any free editors you all can suggest here, please share! Anyway, the above it the before.

Hope you can get the gist of what is said under the picture about the red dragon and the white dragon.  So I tried to stay with that theme as I colored. No, I didn’t use Baby Oil as I forgot to put it on my shopping list. Maybe for the next coloring project, I can try it. Here is my next challenge:

Brought to you by Linda G. Hill. Thanks for the fun!

One-Liner Wednesday 20190327

Don’t bother me, I’m coloring and then napping! Or the other way around?

There are no challenges about napping that I know of. I would love to make that blanket! But there are only three more days to this month to get our Escapest Coloring Club projects finished. I take it seriously. Thank you, Linda! And for One-Liner Wednesday!
