Oh, No!

End of the day and I have nothing to blog about. It was a  diverticulitis day and all plans undid themselves. I did receive my new treadmill but it won’t fit under the couch as I planned. See what I mean? So bike and tread will stay out in the open, in the way. Maybe that’s a good thing? It’s in its box until tomorrow.

Rainy Days and Mondays…

I was talking to myself and feeling down… Here Rainy Day and Monday hit at the same time

When I was in my early twenties my groom and I lived a year in a tiny town with no radio worth listening to and only three UHF stations to watch.

I lived on John Denver, 2001 Space Odyssey, and the Carpenters back then.

This morning feeling more of the song than ever before even with the best husband (not the same one). I was humming the song as I headed to play piano.

Suddenly I looked outside to see:

We could see both ends of the rainbow. Who knew Christmas Valley had two pots of gold?

Sunday Funny

I think my pets are getting a musical education.🤗

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “at the beginning.” Use it any way you’re inspired to. Enjoy!

At the beginning of this month I had plans. I wanted to develop characters for my NaNoWriMo novel and maybe find a bit of plot to get me started.

Somehow life happened and I only felt one character standing up for himself. And at that he seems quite miserable.

I felt like a police sketch artist reading the random characteristics. But I finally had a sketch. Today I reviewed by using some colored pencils.

Yeah, he’s to be a minor antagonist. A wannabe cowboy/mountain man afraid of bridges and heights. Swollen feet fight cowboy boots. Straw hats allow sun as he never feels the sun enough in his life. He’s manic about being outside in the sun. His club foot gives him a limp. His name is Ervin Norbert Dorris.

I wanted to get involved with Inktober but day 1 for me will be when I introduce Viktor Tobias Olson. He has a mustache to start all kinds of trouble. But he’ll show up in a day or so with other Inky props.

Not so finished as midway or just getting started.

I still had enough of this yarn to make one more pair of socks. Besides I can’t stand to see naked needles. Size 2 40″ Chiaogoo needles TwoAtATime socks, Turkish cast-on done now on increasing section. I’m at 20 stitches per side and foot. I need 32 so 12 more rows to the arch.
My last pair of Yoga socks. These seem so pretty and soft. These are the size 1 Hiya-Hiya Flyers. They take some getting used to, but I’m liking the process more and more.
Watermelon socks are coming along. Size 2 40″ Chiaogoo needles TwoAtATime socks. I’m working on the arches now.
I never quite know what to call these. They are acrylic. Still, the yarn is soft and warm. Thick socks or slipper socks. Size 7 40″ Chiaogoo needles TwoAtATime socks. I need 2 more inches of arch ribbing before the start of the Fleegle Heel.
Bottom third of balloon diamond painting picture is done. I have some Halloween DPs waiting that I am anxious to start.
Well, look at that. I still enjoy Duo. I am sick of ads but I can’t afford the super or max. Still, I’m learning as much as I was way back when everything was free.
I’m still sight reading my way through this book. I am highlighting the ones I really want to work on. Those I will print out and tape together so I won’t have pages to turn.
I’ve made it through the ‘S’s. So much fun!

What I still need to do is NaNo characters and nearly two weeks of Inktober prompts. I tried today but couldn’t seem to get myself together enough. Maybe tomorrow.

The Fiery Cross (Outlander, #5)The Fiery Cross by Diana Gabaldon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Obviously, this is my third read of Fiery Cross. I still love the author, narrator, story, and television series. This third rereading is due to the new series, Blood of My Blood.

The new season on television prompted me to reread what I hoped was the equivalent of the book series. Except for a couple of scenes, this book felt more like the previous season. Still, this read raised my rating from four stars to five.

The narrator, Davina Porter, is terrific as she reads Diana Gabaldon’s outstanding writing. In fact, I have decided that Ms. Gabaldon is one of my favorite authors. And Ms. Porter may be my favorite narrator. I love living in the Outlander world. I not only read at night before sleep, which is hard to put down, but also while doing Diamond Painting or knitting.

I found it easier to figure out when the voice is Claire’s, Bree’s, Jamie’s, or Roger’s this time, knowing the story from the TV show and having read this before. I have already picked up the next book, A Breath of Snow and Ash. Now I am nearly caught up with the television series. I just wanted to see how the Revolution progressed in the books.

I highly recommend this series and its TV counterpart.

Below is my earlier review.

These are such great books. The story continues. And now I can watch the current series on TV. But…

Until this book, Divina Porter, the narrator of all the Outlander books, was able to change the voices of most characters enough that a listener could tell who was speaking. With Bree, Roger, and Ian grown, they all sound like Clair and Jamie. If my eyes could handle the tracking, I would try to have the book or Kindle version open to track who is speaking. Instead, I have to back up a bit to see if I can find out. Or I keep listening, and finally, context will indicate who had just been the speaker. That throws me out of the story.

Is it me, or is this book a little less exciting? I know with COVID-19 all around and the stress that has caused us all, it may be playing a part in my attention levels. I may have to reread the series later when life returns us to quieter minds. So I will try not to let this issue affect my rating. I still loved it and have already downloaded the next book. I can’t wait to see how Jamie and his men adjust to the American Revolution. What if you were on the wrong side of history, knew it, but couldn’t do much about it because only you had access to future history? Yeah. What a conundrum! Excellent writing, Diana Gabaldon!

One-Liner Wednesday

One-Liner Wednesday is one of Linda’s prompts.

It started with one skein, divided into two for two yoga socks, both finished, lost one, so this is now a One-Liner?

Hope I find the mate soon.
Yay! Lost sock was hiding under the sheet on the footrest! Which reminds me, anyone ever read Skinny Legs and All by Tom Robbins?

At nearly 76 I still feel like this:

Another Day Undone

Plans. Bah! I planned on working on my characters and their drawings but the electricity went down. That meant I had to go to non-webs. Plenty of piano when the light from the window was good. No diamond painting as light pads and other overhead lighting was out.

While the light was good I got sucked into the yoga socks. Rather than move to another pair of circulars as I hit the heel hole, I pulled out the double pointed needles.

That took over the rest of my day.

It takes about four rows to get over the wibbly-wobblies.

Yoga Socks Sunday

No handsome face could ever take the place of Milo…
Yarn chicken
I won!
Milo and my yoga socks. I’d like a longer cuff, but these are comfy.
