“Carefully, Beth cracked open the door checking for children who might be cowering nearby.”

____________

How’s that! Bam! Covered it all! (See what I did there? Leftover B with current C.) The above is the first line I wrote today. One-Liner Wednesday is one of Linda G. Hill’s gems.

A-to-Z April Challenge starts out here. Today’s letter, if you hadn’t guess by now is:

CampNaNo can be found here. I’ve only added 14 words today making my total 4,017. I’m writing a novel called Haven in 3-D. This the cover for now:

It is in my series that starts with Haven my first novel doing NaNoWriMo. I’m mostly using yWriter to get me going. Enough commercials?

How’s your day? I better get busy lots of errands before I can write!

A-to-Z challenge

Bewildered. That’s how Haven felt. She’d have to believe that it would be easy to be human. Now her tummy was hurting. This must be why the humans needed bathrooms. She could feel that her bowel was protesting. She knew she needed some privacy.

She moved around to see if there was an edge to her dimensional bubble. It wasn’t something she could feel with her hands. So she couldn’t quite tell where her dimension ended and Beth’s began. She turned around and reached down into the bushes and grasses to see if her hand went through them could touch them. Sometimes she didn’t feel the grass. Sometimes she did. They didn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason where one dimension started and the other ended. She was of the belief that there was an edge.

A breeze wafted by her face. She hadn’t noticed any wind before. Maybe this was where she could get out of her dimension and into Beth’s. A beam of light crossed her field of vision. She heard a growl. She recognized that voice. She cleared her thoughts and got very quiet so that she could catch the broadcast of Enelrad’s thoughts.

“We’re trying to bring you to our dimension.” She heard Enelrad say.

“Enelrad. Don’t tell anybody, but this is me, Haven.” She sent a quick thought movie of what she had done and what she had planned. “I hope I can play the human whose name is Ora Ja Ja. Please don’t tell Beth! I want to practice being human. I want to see the situation on Xeno”

“Who is taking care of the planet?”

“No one. I think it can go on for a while without me.”

The dragon sent thoughts of doubt. What if someone needs healing? What if meteorites fall again? What if other beings on the planet start failing in some way? Your closest aid is Beth and she’s here!

_____

The above is the first few paragraphs in today’s writing for my CampNaNo project I’ve titled: Haven in 3D. Here’s my synopsis:

Haven the sentient planet has learned to travel to other worlds, times, and dimensions while maintaining Her own world. What does She look like? What could possibly happen to this unearthly body?

Today was slower than yesterday but I am up to 4,003 of the 50k finish line on April 30th. So far, so good.

Alone

Here are a few lines of the 2,281 words I manage today.

___________

“Alone. No one is alone on this planet. Anyone alone is different. We must try to help her.”

The invisible voice changes.

“She doesn’t seem to be looking anywhere. She doesn’t seem to be moving. How can anyone stand that still?”

A woman is standing looking back over a hill, dressed in a long white dress with green trim, a straw hat with a pink ribbon around the brim, dark brown hair pinned up and peaking out under the hat. She stands right arm facing the observers, left arm crooked on the other side.

“What do you think she’s holding in her right arm?”

I did make the commitment to doing 50,000 words this month in CampNaNo. I have to admit that it is going very well. The story is telling itself. The planet Haven is finding hard to be human. A lot of her power is gone. At the same time, she is learning humility. Ever tried to get into a planet’s mind? Not so easy!

Last night I took this of our sunset. Why is it that it never looks like I see it in the picture? The red/orange was so bright against that dark blue that I nearly fainted at the sight.

By the way, I spent today working on first my set up for writing tomorrow and then went through some of my old books. I will need some of the old characters and places and planets from before so I didn’t want to forget where I’ve been in the Haven series.

Speaking of the Haven series, which you can read in full on Wattpad, I added chapter three to Haven 1-3. I hope to get some comments to help me make it a better story. It isn’t finished with the editing procedures, nor is the story ended after about 10 added books in the series.

Okay back to the Walking Dead season finale. Hope you’re enjoying your Sunday.

Wow! It is Saturday again, so soon!

Per Linda G. Hill:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “dough/d’oh.” Use one, use both, use ’em any way you like. Enjoy!

I choose D’oh! I would use a picture of drooling Homer Simpson here but figure that has to be a copyright infringement.

I was not only surprised at the sudden appearance of Saturday but of the sudden appearance of April and that means:

No. Not NaNoWriMo. But CampNaNo. (Couldn’t find an icon for that). And that sudden realization put me in a rush to get ready. After a day of reinstalling WriteItNow.

And setting up for choosing characters and a place to figure out plots, etc.

And because I can’t seem to put my own pictures in I made sure to install the latest version of yWriter, where I usually do my writing.

After watching OA I was inspired that they could actually keep writing on that show through infinity as there are that many possible dimensions. Then I remembered that postcard my friend sent:

I felt there was a story there. But I didn’t feel like writing historical fiction of the Little House on the Prairie has already been done.

Then suddenly the picture and OA crashed in my head and I think I have a synopsis. As I wrote in the CampNaNo info:

Haven the sentient planet has learned to travel to other worlds, times, and dimensions while maintaining Her own world. What does She look like? What could possibly happen to this unearthly body?

Haven hasn’t talked to me lately but this looks like fun and a lot of potential problems to work out.

OH but then I realized that this is:

So I challenge myself to somehow do both. Maybe what I blog for A2Z will show up in the story or vice versa.

Do you think I will ever get these novels out there and make some dough?

(Did you see what I did there?)

Chapter 2 is following Chapter 1 of Haven.

I hope that counts for a One-Liner Wednesday one-liner. To add to that line if you want to read the whole book or in another place find Haven here.

Try It Tuesday 2190219

***SHIVER AND SHAKING😟*** I just posted my first chapter of Haven on this site.

If any of you have time to read it, and comment (kindly, please) please do so. Ask what questions it leads your mind to. If you see glaring problems let me know. This was originally written in 2002 as a “NaNo” I started between Ides of April and Ides of May. And finished it in November 2002 and started Haven II to reach 50K for that month. (No the part I wrote in spring didn’t count in the wordage.)

This is the beginning of a series that was nearly telepathically told to me by the sentient planet, Herself, Haven. I haven’t heard much from her lately so my last few NaNos haven’t included Her. But I think She is tapping her virtual toes to get me working on them to share what She wants to be known.

If you want more the whole first book is on Wattpad.

Blogging has always been a part of me. Like the newspaper I tried to print when I was a kid.

Like all the Dear Diaries I attempted to write.

Then the internet came along. I tried several times from Prodigy on to have a blog.

But just like way back with the toy printing press, I never know what to say. Linda G. Hill has always had cool prompts to get my brain going. Just like Just Jot It January. There is something to write about every day.

What can I say? I think I like ‘journaling’ so that I can go back in time and see what was going on way back then. It is why I do book and movie reviews. I rarely write about the literary content. I try to include how it affected my life or how my life affected my interpretation of the book.

Same here. Except purer. A prompt can get the writing started. Writing is the aim. Fiction or non-fiction. Write. Writing is often lonely. Blogging brings friends. It’s a chance to share our intimate thoughts and find others who think in the same way.

***

The next question is how I came up with my theme. I’m unsure if this is the background that the words are on or the name and aim of the blog. The background is so I can read it with the least amount of eyestrain. I like the colors. As for calling it

Darswords

Musings about Havenverse
As one of my commentators stated, Darswords looks like Dar swords. And my reply was about the word is mightier than the sword. My inner thought on that is I need some swordier words!
Haven is the sentient planet that about 90% of the books that I have written for NaNoWriMo have been about. I need to get my books edited and out for folks to read. My possibilities list included getting busy editing. The blog is keeping that goal front and center.
How has blogging changed my life? I have met some cool people out in the blogosphere. Support overflows the nets as people drop by personal blogs and connect. I wouldn’t have met such great people had I not gone to their blogs and learned about their lives. So much better than Dear Diary, today I breathed in and out. Imagine if someone would have picked up that diary and asked me questions about the rest of my day or how did those breaths feel. Did the air feel cold or steamy as I respiration? Could it be there is boredom in living inside one’s head and not having the chance to explore what you might not have thought of on your own? That’s what blogging has meant to me.

So I not only finished my first edit for Haven, I started on my next revision. Maybe there is hope? It’s funny because I wrote this so long ago that as I read I got excited as I go to parts I had forgotten about. I used this last round to use Grammarly. I know that doesn’t fix it all but it makes it more legible. There will be more writing to get it the way I think it will read the best. But I have to be careful as I have written 12 (at least) books on this series so I don’t want to stray too far away.

I have put the whole thing as it is now in WattPad. I would love some constructive critiques, either on that page or here or send an email if you choose. There are places I need the questions asked or gentle shoves in right directions.

Oh My–Almost Monday!

Okay, so here we are with Sunday nearly over. According to my A-Z challenge for myself, this is ‘O’ day and I almost didn’t get this blog done!

As a retired person, Monday holds no sway for me. Except that my sweetie and I spend the weekends binging shows. During the week we are in separate rooms working on our own pursuits, writing, Facebooking, etc.

This weekend binge was first Lost in Space , what fun it was! I loved it because as a sci-fi it included everyone, all ages, colors, genders and still remained exciting. It even manages to have good and bad in an inclusive manner.

Sundays have been mostly The Walking Dead or Fear of the Walking Dead. Again, the reasons I love these shows are the all-inclusiveness. And the story-line is always fresh.

But I never just sit and stare at a screen. I am usually knitting or playing a game on my phone or –TADA editing! I did 4 hours today. I did do some knitting and played a couple games of FreeCell while I gnashed on sentences that beg to be fixed but I couldn’t figure them out while staring at them.

Since I am not signed up Officially with the A-Z Challenge I will say if you want to learn more about it click on the blued URL above.

If you can spare a moment to beta-read my first 13 chapters of Haven, I would be ever so grateful. Leave me questions or critiques (Please be kind–this is scary!)
