Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “luck.” Use it any way you’d like. Enjoy!

Luck is what you make, right? The fires in the west and the floods in the east and the occasional tornado, not the kind of thing one can make for oneself, right? Those who live and those who die from these incidents are a flip of the coin or brought it on themselves?

Okay, the thought of what we all might have contributed to the laws and the global warming that might have contributed to the catastrophes, does occur. Yet the individual who lives an dies don’t seem to pull that all to themselves. Sure a person can make sure their home is protected as best they can to withstand the throws of nature. But who is to blame for the victim’s bad luck?

There are those who wear special hats or ribbons when they gamble or race. Is it their luck if they win? Is it bad luck if they didn’t wear the lucky pin and they lost?

Yes, I’m addressing this. If we catch COVID19 or Delta and we’ve done everything to prevent it, is it our bad luck? This has to do with neighbors and friends and family, too. Just as a person can pass by your house and recklessly toss a cigarette out the car window and catch your house on fire. Even though you have fireproofed your place it burns down. Luck? Blame? Maybe the worst is the anger that blame brings. The house is still on fire. The possible disease is attacking. Maybe it’s a waste of time and energy to call out the careless? They are probably rich and can get out of it anyway. Sure we hope there will be a way to recover physically and financially. And we have done everything in our power to stay safe and healthy. We’ve saved our pennies when we could. So it’s just bad luck?

I’m falling down a rabbit hole here. I’m not sure there is a wise person, guru, rabbit’s foot that can save this blog today.

Meanwhile, our day was hot, 96 with smoke and clouds making it sticky and awful. We’ve kept the fans going and kept hydrated. Tomorrow will be 100. If we are lucky we will get through as the next week shows 80s. Our pets lay around the floor and we check on them. We take siestas during the heat of the day and that helps a little. But I get grouchy after a hot nap.

All the while I am hearing this earworm.

Maybe I can get it out of my head.

Up in the sky, way over there,

Those thoughts that fly

When I need them most

Are having a hey day!

Down in that valley, yes, right here,

We try to carry on,

Spiriting up

Getting things done

Having down to Earth fun.

A lack of sleep night had me scurrying for words when talking to family. But I had my ups and downs in the day getting lots of recorder things done, piano practice, even scales with fingers running up and down the keyboard.

A couple boxes got unboxed. The first signs of the heat showed up. Though in comparison with those west of here our temps were down, I don’t think we got to the predicted 95. Not looking forward to the triples due tomorrow through Wednesday. Too hot to be productive when there is no AC. Well, we have fans and a little window AC. But not the whole house kind.

Keep cool everyone!

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “up/down.” Use one, use them both, but try to put one in your first sentence. Bonus points if you use the other in your last sentence. Have fun!

Thanks for the fun prompt, Linda G. Hill!

Hidden Object Sunday

Today and tomorrow are nearly triple digit days. With no real AC we tend to lay low.

So my day consisted of finishing Witches’ Legacy: The Charleston Curse. It was fun enough to play twice.

Before that I played  Love Story: Beach Cottage.

And before that Written Legends: Nightmare at Sea.

It doesn’t get any work done. But it’s one step up from laying around doing nothing.  But even knitting is too hot! And my eyes can’t handle reading.

Okay. Guilt is jumping in. I could be writing. But the brain seems fried from heat.

Sorry for a complaining blog. Guess I’ll find one more game to tide me over. After Duolingo that is.

Hope you all had a great Father’s Day!

happy father's day

Sunday, August 2nd, 2020

I have nothing to report today. All is well, bad tooth seems to be behaving properly. Though not as hot as earlier this week, it was still warm enough to be draining. So the day was spent playing games on the phone, or knitting while watching the Jurassic Park trilogy and an early evening siesta. Oh, and I managed two loads of laundry, washing in the morning and drying right now at 9:30. I just didn’t want to add to the heat.

Kali gave me chuckles. She looks at us like we ordered this weather and we should fix it. She lays around all day. Then around 7, she wanted out. The breeze was amazing. I nearly joined her as she frolicked all around the yard. Jumping like a white rabbit all over. I knew if I tried that I’d break a leg, but I enjoyed her romping.

The heat affects the cats a little differently. They find places on the floor to just spread eagle. Teddy (my ginger) loves the towel I have on the bathroom floor in front of the shower. He likes things that are close to his color. Rosey (my black polydactyl) is more like my young kids were. If they were too hot they wanted to snuggle and share the warmth. Ugh! You love the love, but the heat!

The sunset this evening was beautiful but I was too busy to take a picture. I think it is so colorful because of the fires on the other side of the mountains. I feel bad for the people living closer to that mess. Still, it is gorgeous. Maybe it is time to take some pics of everything. Ah, but that would take effort, and there are clothes to fold.

Happy Sunday everyone!

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “more.” Start your post with the word “more.” Enjoy!

More baby socks! Just off the loom today. I love doing little socks. They are so fast, just a day or so, and there they are. Don’t you love quick easy crafts? Especially when it is so hot. I don’t want to hold anything heavy. The yarn is so light. The loom is just a little one. KB Baby loom. Not having a schedule to keep makes it an easy thing to stay productive.

As of tomorrow, the days will get cooler and I will be able to be on the computer a bit more. Then I can spend time reading other people’s blogs and not just doing the hit and run blogs I have been doing. Even now at 8PM, it is too hot to be on this laptop without making me and my surroundings like an oven. So the stream is running dry before it had a chance to flow more.

Another…

Tired, toothache Monday. Muggy hot with headache. That is all.

What Day Is It Anyway?

Another quick one. I think it is Thursday but the heat and tooth have me wondering. I am on an antibiotic and the pain killer. I am feeling better but still not quite energetic enough to care. The joyful spot is I have a friend visiting today. 6′ and masks. No hugging. But lots of fun and chatting that help me forget the bad and the day.

I promise by the weekend I will catch up on as many blogs as I can.

I miss you all!

One-liner Wednesday July 22, 2020

Thank you for your thoughts, vibes, and prayers!

Thank you! My husband just had an appointment on Monday so 4 hours of driving. This morning he’s driving 3 to get my antibiotic and painkiller. What a guy!. The dentist is sure that the pain is due to infection. He can’t even pull the tooth until the infection heals. My temp is usually low. 96-97. But yesterday it was up to 99.1. How much was tooth and how much this bloody heat, I’m not sure. I hope it’s better tomorrow. My friend is coming to visit. She’s bringing a pup tent so she can maintain distance. We’ll all wear masks for a couple of days.

One-liner Wednesday is brought to us by Linda G. Hill. It is an easy fun prompt to get us all writing, even if just a line.

Day Two

Way too hot to have a toothache. No appointment until August!

Climbing back to the slighty cooler floor. Not even enough energy for Bitmoji

Too Hot

Today and tomorrow I am only waving ‘hi!’

I don’t want to turn on the computer. We don’t have AC, so trying to keep as cool as possible. Hope everyone is okay out there.
