Occasionally the occupant of this room (me) tries a different occupation. As most of you know, I love loom knitting. But I crocheted most of my life and had learned to knit as a teen. But when I found how little pain I got with the loom as compared to the other hobbies, I stayed with the favored one of my hands.

Today I saw a Youtube that I thought was going to teach me a new pattern for the loom but I was wrong. It was a way to cast on for knitting by using a crochet chain. Best of those two worlds! I couldn’t resist. I had to try. Now On Casted (OC) I’m left with the actual knitting of the thing. Sigh! Let’s hope I don’t have to have occupation therapy for this! By the way, I’ve added this to my projects on Ravelry. I’m darravels over there. Here is the creator’s Ravelry: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/copycat-cc-beanie

Have you watched Blue Planet? It is a favorite for me if I have insomnia. But somehow I needed a background show first to nap, then to attempt this new pattern. BBC was playing Planet Earth II when the nap overtook. Then it changed to Blue Planet. I love the ocean. I had wanted to be a marine biologist at one time but… life.  One can learn a lot when busy doing something else. 🙂

Oh, speaking of watching something. (This is Stream of Consciousness Saturday, right?) Before the nap, my honey and I were watching The Kindness Diaries. My friend recommended it as it is about to be taken off Netflix. Bring your Kleenex, not for the sadness but the overwhelming kindness that is shown. I’m on the last one where Leon is in Hollywood. What a beautiful story!

Here is Leon’s site: http://www.leonlogothetis.com/netflix/  And who knew? He has a book!

Needless to say it’s on my wish list.

But if I get as far as Hollywood, I need to see my favorite part of California (Unfortunately, they are the more expensive parts, which is why I don’t live there.)

Santa Barbara, Sunset over the Pacific Ocean at Arroyo Hondo Beach near the city of Goleta in southern California.

And my favorite place to walk:

Near lifeguard station 69 in Newport Beach, California in Orange County (OC)

Okay, Linda G. Hill, do I win?  She brings us both

with the prompt of ‘oc’

Go over and see how this works. It’s fun and keeps me writing every day. Thanks, Linda!

I took these pictures this morning. The bright ones are to the south of our house. The one with the shadows are on the north side. That is the side that melts slowly and even when the snow seems to have melted all over, right in the front of our place there is the cold shadow of darkness and ice. Wow, sounds like the beginnings of a spooky story!

Still, I wish I could capture the true pictures of darkness like the brilliance of last night’s snow. I love standing out in the night while it’s snowing. I don’t need to take the flashlight on those nights because it seems the snow illuminates everything. I can see the dog and anything that might try to attack her. She seems to love the snow, too as she didn’t want to come in the house any more than I did. Today it was more boring. I took a little walk around the property enjoying the pure clean look of everything, but the sun was so bright I had to go in because I didn’t have on my sunglasses. Well, if it has to be cold, it might as well be pretty!

Hopefully,, Linda G. Hill is feeling better. In spite of health issues she is still engaged with the Jot It January team she set up. Thank you!

Also, thank you, Kerry, who gave us the prompt of “Darkness.” Visit Kerry at her blog, “Her Headache,” her link:  https://kkherheadache.wordpress.com/

IT IS ABOUT TIME!!! I was getting ready to revolt! We have had very little snow this year while all our southern, usually warm states have gotten it all! All we got was rain and mud. Not fun mud but sandy mud which looks boring. But as of about 2 PM today it started snowing and hasn’t stopped. Wish I had a camera that did nighttime snow. It is so peaceful and beautiful. And dare I say it? warmer than other times. Kali and I have had a hard time staying in the house. We both come in and do that shake-it-off dance. By the way, that picture is from last year sometime but nothing changes around here, much so this looks about right. I’ll try to take some pictures tomorrow.

I hope everything is okay in Linda G. Hill’s world. Go check it out!

And check out Sandra, who gave us our prompt: “Revolt.” Use it any way you’d like in your post. And make sure you visit Sandra at her blog, “What Sandra Thinks” to read her post and say hi! Here’s her link:  https://whatsandrathinks.com/

For some of us, a sky like this promotes deep contemplation. Others see it as a conspiracy. This is from last summer. I took a bunch of this crisscrossed sky at sunset. The prompt made me think of these. It is so peaceful here but never so much as just as the sun goes down. It could have been the busiest day but something like this slows down the thoughts and bring on thoughts of blessings.

I chose to go with this as the rest of my day has been busy trying to get ready for our new resident. Clearing a room means making a mess in the others. But I think it is coming together. Still… taking a look at the beauty outside helps me breathe through it all.

Thank you, Linda G. Hill for your constant inspiration, including Just Jot It January.

Cheryl brought us the prompt “Contemplation.” Check out Cheryl at her blog, “The Bag Lady”  https://rugby843.blog/

Knock, knock!
Who’s there?
Justice!
Justice who!
Justice as I thought, you don’t remember me!

“Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are.”
― Benjamin Franklin

“As my sufferings mounted I soon realized that there were two ways in which I could respond to my situation — either to react with bitterness or seek to transform the suffering into a creative force. I decided to follow the latter course.”
― Martin Luther King Jr.

“If you tremble with indignation at every injustice then you are a comrade of mine.”
― Ernesto Che Guevara

“Few will have the greatness to bend history itself, but each of us can work to change a small portion of events. It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.”
― Robert F. Kennedy

Martin Luther King Jr.

“Until justice rolls down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream.”
― Martin Luther King Jr.
I thought these said more than I could have on this rather brain-dead day.  (Been very busy trying to get the room ready for my son. Happy Martin Luther Kindd, Jr. Day— for justice!

Your prompt for January 14th, 2018, brought to you by a new-to-me blogger, Itinerary Planner, is “Ultimatum.” Use it any way you’d like in your post. And make sure you visit Itinerary Planner at her blog, “Travel Itineraries: Travel the World for Less” (sounds good to me!) to read her post and say hi! Here’s her link:  https://traveltinerary.com/

I think of myself as a rather peaceful person. But I have a serious rebel side. And to see that an ultimatum is announced. ‘You will do this, be this, or ___ will happen.’ You know often _____ is often a better result than complying. In fact, it has often been life-changing.

I spent all day trying to tell the story to back it up but I can’t without involving someone else and I don’t want to do that. Well, and I have had one shiny thing after another today. But I think I made my point.

Has anyone watched Pirates 5? That was one of my distractions today. Talk about ultimatums! Oh, and we started the series Disjointed. FUN! I needed the laughs that came from that.

Another distraction, my 44-year-old son is coming to live with us this next weekend. Now I have to clear out a room for him and figure out a lot of logistics. If you could climb into my head right now, you would see a knotted bunch of yarn trying to break out!

I dunno. Maybe not so much. But I liked the cartoon! What I am really aggravated about is how I have known this prompt all day and only now at nearly midnight have actually sat the laptop on my lap and started doing something about it. I don’t blame old age, although it does play a part. I blame ADD. I have been so busy all day and here at the end of the day, I can’t figure out what I have done! Pure aggravation!

If you like prompts to help you write every day,  join us for Just Jot It January. You can find out the rules and ideas here.  Linda G. Hill is our inspiration! All these books and movies about bondage and humiliation. Just wait. As you get old you will learn daily of pain. You will learn the meaning of the word humiliate. There is no safe word.

Just Jot It January is brought to you by Linda G. Hill. The prompt is courtesy of  Jim of “A Unique Title for Me”

One-Liner Wednesday and Just Jot It January are fun ways to keep journaling or blogging. Stop by Linda G. Hill’s site to see how this works.

Why is it that the more things I knit, the more yarn is all over my house? You would think that the things I make and give away would mean less yarn. But I seem to have far more now than before and I didn’t buy more or pick up any more donation yarn. I guess this is a good thing! The yarn bunnies are multiplying!
