My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I don’t know if it was the way the text sounds in text-to-speech as opposed to having narration or if, after a go-getter of a book about the same, this one was dull. Or could it just be that I had overloaded on the subject matter? But I couldn’t get into this book, and much of the information was a repeat of what I’d heard before.

But to give it a good chance I will try to find it on Audible and see if I like it better. I feel that, being a bit of a musician who enjoys artwork, I need more specific information about distraction and hyperfocus within those realms.

Still, I don’t want to discourage others from reading this. It may be just what you need. Or what I may need at another time.

A while back I made the suncatchers. It was fun to sit in my recliner and save my back. So I picked up the bag  to hold smaller projects.

I have the lighthouse project and a lightpad in it near my chair.

It was nice that this little picture came with a separate key to the symbols.
It came with little baggies, pen, tray and wax, and tweezers.
I set up my containers. The picture is in that little cylinder.

I started today. I’m not very adapted to working like this.  The symbols are harder to work with than numbers and letters. I forgot to take a picture as I ran out of energy. Just know the picture is about two hands’width and one hand in height. So, tiny. It may be fast or a pain. We’ll see. So far the top right of the sky has happened.

Tomorrow I’ll straighten and seal the sea turtles. It is easier to work at the dedicated table than my recliner, so far. I know there are a lot of people who work from their beds. I find myself floundering around trying to keep neat and tidy. I don’t like scattering drills, that’s what the diamonds are called.

ADD means many projects. Keeping those separate and easy to get to is a struggle. ALWAYS!

How do you all keep your hobbies contained?

The prompt word for January 22nd is “seasonal.” Thanks go to Kaye for the wonderful prompt!

Please be sure to check out Kaye’s blog here!

For Just Jot it January, click the following link to see how you, too, can join in! https://lindaghill.com/2023/01/22/daily-prompt-jusjojan-the-22nd-2023/ It’s fun!

Linda spoke of how her writing was seasonal. NaNoWriMo, CampNaNo and Just Jot It January becomes her writing time. Me, too. It seems those programs help motivate me properly. I haven’t won every time. And sometimes, like last month as I tried another goal, I made no progress at all. But often I make the 50k. Even on the camps. That would probably not surprise my teachers. Most of my report cards had comments like, ‘Darlene talks too much in class.’

This year I’ve over-goaled my life with all the gifts I’m trying to make and so writing has fallen by the wayside.

And I still have to podcast and start reading aloud my books, starting with my memoirs. The area in my house I planned on using, suddenly has Diamond Paintings.

My recorder playing, piano and voice practice have fallen off.

There are only 24 hours in a day. Still!!! I stay up reading until 3 or 4. With my old dog waking me often, sleep also seems seasonal. Heat and smoke and bugs of summer, icy cold and snow of winter affects everything in our house. Where we hang out, how we sleep, either covered up over my head with warmth or sheet to keep bugs off. And all this affects energy and pain levels, ya know?

Maybe I need to organize my day better and my week to include everything I want to do.

Thank goodness for the treadmill. It still gets used most days of the week.

How does anyone get anything done with a job? I did do NaNo. But the rest of this, writing, knitting, especially learning new stitches, artwork, music, etc. Little got done. Too tired. Housework. Phew!

Seasons of our lives are as influential as the weather. Whew!

Thus Thursday

Don’t you hate it when you make the plan to postpone publishing a blog for another date and then suddenly you have published it? Yeah, the review yesterday was supposed to be today’s blog. Oh well. Live and learn!

It’s all coming together! I have a dining/hobby room! I put a screen up to hide my piano for a bit of privacy. Yeah, they can still hear me, but I am not distracted by folks as they sit in the other room or walk by. And now that there is so much room! I’m seriously thinking of bringing the recording studio up to that room. The curtains can be the background screen or the piano. Trouble is if the family tries to walk through, there might be problems, especially if they want to talk. At least the bedroom has a door, and I can put up a sign. Okay, maybe not.

My company will be here Sunday. My error. I was just too excited to have someone visit. But now grateful for the chance to keep cleaning. And the last few days have been lovely. So working was easy. Still have plenty to do. And I know I will be so happy when I get back from my trip to see the house so tidy.

I have continued my music in the evenings. Some things are improving some still need lots of work. I have signed up for recorder lessons for free on FaceBook that I hope will help with the breath. And stiff fingers.

Guess what I found while cleaning?! My Day Runner. Did any of you have one of those? I think that was what it was called. I found with a little work I could get it up and running again. I am finding the calendar and contacts on my phone get messed up too often. And I think it will keep me more organized with my crafts and hobbies. Maybe then I will remember to get to my Zoom Writer’s Meet? For some reason, I have a time in my day that I forget it is Monday, and I don’t remember until the meeting is long over. Boo! me.

And I found this within it:

Next time I go to Bend I can rent something! Remember when it got funny to say, ‘Be Kind, Rewind’?

Well, time to go play some tunes! Keep cool everyone. If not, have pity on those who live in Death Valley. It should be 134F tomorrow.
