Mending Monday, A-Z

(Stu)diously I’m trying to research and follow gentle treatments for UTIs. It seems to be working. I’m still tired. But the pain is less. I didn’t bike, piano or diamond painting today. I did manage half a row of knitting. But even that was too much. A lot of naps.

But we did get our new sofa delivered and set up. I didn’t take pictures. With the furries we covered it up immediately. But it is nice for extra seating and even sleeping.

Between my daughter, Heather, who gifted us a nice amount for Christmas, my brother and son for putting it together, I feel so fortunate.

Now I need to get past unwell and back to energy.

A to Z Challenge S,T

Straight up, I’m trying to catch up. Still, this causes stress.

Story is ‘Socks’ is my favorite ‘S’ word. Stitches, tidal pools, stars and star fish.

Tuesdays and trying. Striving to be better, smarter. Singing in trios, or solos, spending time with my friends.

Show tunes, swimming, trays full of drills, reading Shogun.

Streaming thoughts. So many things unsaid, the train skipped the tracks.

Per Linda:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “scene.” Use it any way you like. Have fun!

Saturday? Wasn’t yesterday Monday?

The prompt is full of guilt for me. You see in yWriter you can write scene by scene. Though NaNoWriMo is meant to make you write without caution or order, yWriter can keep all the blather organized by scenes. I need to write!!

Shoot. I barely got into this stream when suddenly I caught a stomach bug. So, this will have to do. This is not a good scene.😥

So, I think I am getting my stride back. Without losing a second, here are my first few paragraphs from the first scene I’m writing tonight.

____

Seeing their counterpart joining each other and singing, the dragons did the same. Screeching, squealing, nearly screaming would more define the sound of the dragons but their riders were delighted. They pretended to conduct the trio into harmonics most humans would never tolerate. But the girls were thrilled. They too started singing in the most dissonant way. They could feel the vibrations between the bubbles ripping. They could hear each other better and better. Soon they could run to each other and swing their bodies onto the backs of their dragon friends, and they soared skyward wishing to never see this beach ever again.

Looking down onto the people on the beach they realized they couldn’t leave. They still needed to help humans save their elfish spacemen. They figured if they took the creatures to Haven, they could actually bring the elves back to life. So each dragon picked up the dead and blinked to Haven.

The second they landed on Haven they realized their mistake. Haven still wasn’t in charge, and the cousins’ mothers were still as dead.

_____

Sorry to leave you on such a sad note. There is a promise that what we see isn’t so, but that needs to be worked out. Haven in 3D is the title and is a sequel of Haven the first book I wrote in 2001 and can be found on Wattpad.

I’m sorry if this is confusing. I know the story I’m telling, and even knowing the whole picture I am still working out the bits. Mostly I am trying to get out my 1,667 words a day to make it to 50K by the 30th of this month. I currently have 33,734. My goal is to hit today 36,652. CampNaNo is challenging to say the least!

The last few days have been horrid health-wise. My allergies and fibro are fighting for me to be sleeping 24/7 instead of having a working brain and tapping fingers. I’ve even started drinking coffee at night, and yet I sleep and not write!

Hopefully, you all had a good Holy Day/Easter. I have to admit that I’m glad I didn’t have eggs to boil and color or high energy kids jumping about. Been there, done that, t-shirt and all. Our neighbor’s chickens have been visiting lately so we have possible broods getting ready. I love his hens and the gorgeous rooster and our black and white speckled girls seem to like the company.

Look how much I wrote here! Why am I not getting that many words over in yWriter? (I’m doing okay. Just complaining. Sorry) Well, I won’t if I don’t get over there and continue typing! See ya all tomorrow!

#A to Z Challenge–S

Sounds

As I mentioned before, my daughter doesn’t have cable. She has Netflix and Hulu but doesn’t find herself in front of the set all that much. She like YouTube and podcasts of all kinds. She’s rather intellectual and prefers science to fantasy. And so I am always learning something new from her.

On road trips, she has downloaded podcasts for those long stretches where there is no reception. While traveling this time she introduced me to someone I already knew. I read Wild by Cheryl Strayed so when she said she had the podcast, Dear Sugar, I was pretty excited. It was full of good advice and spirited fun. I plan to try and tune in every now and then.

My son and daughter (it was the both of them that brought me back home from Reno) have set up a fun adventure for when traveling. They like to set up a challenge for each other as to a period of time for the music they will listen to on their long ride. So when they took me home and then on the road trip to Bend they listened mainly to music they thought represented the early 2000s. Since there wasn’t a lot I recognized I found it fun and enlightening.

My most fun was on the trip to Bend (when we were taking Kali for her check up at the vet). It was on Good Friday so it seemed appropriate to listen to Jesus Christ Superstar. I know many don’t like that. I’m sorry. I have always found it to hold depth and memories for me. I had friends at AVC who did the musical and did a far better job that the movie or Broadway bunch. My friend sang lead in the SuperStar choir generally thought to be the ghost of Judas but she did such a fantastic job I still remember. That whole troupe did an outstanding job and those scenes play out when I hear this music. It was wonderful for my daughter to let me have my little tradition as our traveling music.

Isn’t it amazing how sounds can help a drive go so much more smoothly?
