Feeling Good

My brain feels fried!

And though it started melting today I still have a picture from a couple days ago to enjoy.

Maybe the snow diamonds inspired?

Beautiful Day

It never got above freezing today so the snow stayed and showed off.

Meanwhile, I listened to a bit more of the Libby audio of Les Miserables. I had to switch off Christmas carols to a Les Mis station on Pandora. All the while, I enjoyed diamond painting a sun(?).

The little numbers are hard to decipher at times, but I’m having fun.

Just to do this much, takes the back light, the daylight, the light behind me, the lights on in my glasses and a magnifying glass.

Bending at this angle hurts after a while. I hope to get better at it.

Tomorrow more snow ❄️🌨️! Someone’s been snow dancing!

My Kind of Monday

I have to admit to getting the blues from Facebook and my cloud-sharing memories. Since we moved to Christmas Valley, we have enjoyed the snow.❄️It flurried on Halloween. We looked the Hallmark Thanksgiving with snow on the proper day. Then there had been my birthday snow. A kindness that didn’t show the birthday that my daughter and partner brought Kali to me. (Wow, four years ago.) And Christmas never disappointed. Hallmark wished they knew Christmas Valley!

Then last year, as if isolation wasn’t enough, the snow was stingy. This year it seemed almost as wrong. But on my birthday I got flurries. 😁

Yesterday, I decided to try my Diamond Painting. My friend sent me a Doctor Who. So I spent the day transferring the gems to the organizers. I had Pandora on the Bing Crosby Christmas music and Audible playing Les Miserables.

My brother heard the Christmas music playing, ‘Let It Snow’ 🌨️ and decided it was time to put up the trees. Knowing Rosey will be tearing it down as often as gravity demands, it is what it is today. Sorry. I’ll try to take a nighttime picture.

Notice outside? Yep! That is what gave us the energy.

SNOW!

It’s windy now, but another batch of snow is on its way!

Yay!

🌨️

❄️

What is wrong with this picture? No mailboxes on homes in Christmas Valley. Drive (or walk as we used to before the truck) 7miles to the post office.

And birthday snow!

How many of you do the digital reverse or add the digits together?

But I’m pretty happy about my actual age. I feel blessed to have lived this long when others didn’t get to travel with me. And my goal is the next prime number.

And the white dusting on the porch and driveway are making my birthday magical.

May I introduce you to our Spring? It doesn’t last long. I usually refer to it as Pre-Summer. But this year our Winter happened a few days ago with this surprise:

Two days later, we had a high of 82 degrees, but our nights have been below freezing, usually around 22, until last night and tonight. At 39, we don’t have to drip our faucets all night. BUT the minute the freezing stops, we have bugs. Mostly flies. It’s hard to say which is worse. Yesterday I was able to walk around barefoot. Heaven! But today, rain outside, socks inside. Soon I will be complaining about 100 degrees. But I can wear shorts!

This year March never left the lion phase. April came in growling and ended hissing. So those April showers started today, the first of May.

May we please stop having winds so I can go out and play? Mother May I?

This is kind of new out here. In the last two Springs, the chorus gets louder. We keep the windows open to hear the song. Sorry, not much of a picture as it is night, and there are very few lights out here. Anybody know how to just capture and save a sound on your cell?

Visual

The little bit we got Sunday Morning
This morning (7 AM) backyard
Obviously the snow blew in from the east.
Toward the driveway. Mesquite buses full of snow.
Toward west side of front yard.
Looking north
I just loved how the mesquite looked.
Ground brown mud but look at the sky!
Blue skies fading but leftover clouds proudly pink and purple!
The reason I had to see this beauty all day.
Thank you, Kali!

Snow Friday

I woke early this last official day of winter to this scene:

It was still snowing with big flakes maybe a inch or more across. Yet there was blue in the sky above our house.

Then a huge monster came with it’s mouth agape.

I wish we would have had more snow this winter. Maybe it will be a rainy spring Or pre-summer as I call it.

A Snowy Made It Monday

I woke up to this beautiful scene. Too early and cold to step outside, I took it from my recliner, looking out the front window.

Just to give a better view, I cropped it bigger to this:

It is all melted. Crazy pre-summer. Here in the desert, it is hot or cold. Barely ever in between as most people who experience spring would enjoy. And that means it’s colder, 21 degrees right now. Yes, I am under a blanket with all heaters on as I finish my ‘spring socks’ I have about 6 rows to make the cuff, but I will be past midnight when I finish. So come back if you happen to see the picture after the midnight posting time.

12:43 AM [edit] Yay! Done!

Finished Friday

I wish I could say I have finished a whole pair of socks. Instead, I have to claim a sock and nearly another, minus the cuff. I think it is safe to say that the pair should be whole by Sunday.

I’m still teaching myself to circular needle knit a pair of toe-up magic circle socks. I’m giving up on the provisional cast-on. I think it isn’t the actual cast-on that bothers me; you aren’t starting at the tip of the toe but farther in. So my blog-friend at Missy’s Crafty Mess   shared her favorite cast-on. It does seem a lot more logical, so I’m frogging those again and trying this instead. Maybe I should call it Frogging Friday at this point?

It was a fun Friends Friday as my buds and I did our regular Zoom get-together. While we were chatting, our weather here went from sunny to a layer of snow. Now it is mostly gone. Sorry to the rest of the country that is getting overloaded with the stuff. We need lots more as our drought continues. But it was fun to watch this out my front window.

One-Liner Wednesday

What a difference an hour makes. Kali met mud at 7AM then full snow at 8AM
