Stream of Consciousness Saturday, Home

Per Linda:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is โ€œhome.โ€ย Use it as a noun, a verb, an adjective, or an adverb. Enjoy!

Homing in on the word of the day makes me realize what a home body I’ve become. My roots grow deep especially these last few years. Sitting and knitting on homespun yarn, making socks and hats helps me ground myself, keep my hands busy, and mind open to whatever meditations that leads to.

What I am not is homemaker. Four adults live here. Four adult clean, cook and keep home. Though sometimes that range is rangey and the deer and the antelope, well, you know.

Please, no discouraging words.

Stream of Consciousness Saturday is Linda G. Hill’s prompt. Here’s today’s.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is โ€œstart with why.โ€ย Begin your post with the word โ€œwhy.โ€ Have fun!

Why? All on it’s own is a good question. But what makes any of us think it’s personal? A better question would be, Why not? Clears it up. So rather than dwell in self pity. We can look at the bigger pictures.

Sure we can learn from our mistakes. But I’ve given up on Karma. That illness or accidents are the results of bad character. Hurricanes and quakes are not the caused by sin.

It’s best to see the problem and work out how to make life better for yourself and others. Then move on. Til the next why.

Why not? Summer didn’t do it’s job.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is โ€œboard/bored.โ€ Use one, or use them both for bonus points. Enjoy!

When are board meetings anything boring. Yeah, leaving everyone stuff as a board.

Since my shoulder pain is stopping me from a lot of my hobbies -well, for as long as I usually ‘play’- I’m seeing how everyone else watches shows. Is boredom this antsy, can’t pay attention, feeling? Is my itchy hands not having something to do a bore? Like an awl boring into my soul. I can’t wait to be whole again.

Bored? Whittle this board. Oh, wait. I can’t. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

Time to learn something new.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is โ€œbagged.โ€ Use it any way youโ€™d like. Enjoy!

How is it that Bagged seems a happy, positive thing. Yet sacked can bring you down?

We are finally done with my travels. My friend brought me home. Everything I’d bagged is now put away, or at least near the desired home.

Tomorrow we plan to bag more food and water and take a little trip to take a hike and enjoy nature’s beauty. Fun is in the bag.

Gone are the days when a day enjoying yourself could result in being sacked. See what I mean?

I hope you have a great weekend! Here’s another way to be bagged:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is โ€œmake a note.โ€ Do with it what you will. Have fun!

Make a note,

Sound it well,

Cause if you don’t

Someone might tell.

What might be fun:

Take a note,

Take quite a few!

Leave less to stroke!

Even none!

Sorry ๐Ÿ˜

Linda G. Hill prompts us thus:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is โ€œproduct/produce.โ€ Use one, use them both, use them any way youโ€™d like. Bonus points if you use both. Have fun!

Being the product of our parents, does that make us produce? Asking for a friend.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is โ€œa picture from wherever.โ€ย When you sit down to write your post, find a picture, whether in a magazine, newspaper, or even product packaging. Write whatever thought or emotion the picture provokes. Enjoy!

When I see the moment the sun and water marry, I feel more alive than ever. And love to my core.

Per Linda:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is โ€œiron(y).โ€ Use โ€œiron,โ€ use โ€œirony,โ€ or use both. Use them any way youโ€™d like. Bonus points if you use both. Have fun!

I am allergic to this word for the picture it conjures up. Especially on Saturday.

Shoot! Even writing it makes it show up.

You see, growing up, doing the family pressing was my job. Every dang Saturday. The whole family’s!

Granted the guys had to vacuum, cut grass and the like. And Mom did all the laundry, even before we had a dryer. That meant she hung up the clothes then when dry, she brought me the wrinkled clothes.

It seemed a never ending mountain. Not to mention Mom was angry every single Saturday.

Now I look at it with my t-shirts and permanent press and the occasional steamer (once every couple years?) and realize how unfair the world has been to women and especially my mother.

I am tired. I wish I could think of something ironic to say here. But maybe I’m anemic?

I have been curious since surgery. I found myself heading down the scientific history trail. I’m sure as most medical discoveries, there had been errors and trials

But think for a moment having cataract surgery before the American Revolution. Even if Clair Frazer did the operation, lack of good anesthetic and machines to help guide her hands, it would be terrifying.

My grandfather had the operation in the 1970s. The silicone tacos weren’t used yet. He had to put in contacts every day. He was in his 90s.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is โ€œhat.โ€ Use it literally or metaphorically. Have fun!

“Hat…” Was mentioned twice here. It was the first thing I thought of with the prompt.

Hat sunglasses, sunscreen. My mantra before a walk.

But keep this under your hat, I sometimes don’t. I know I should. But sometimes getting out there is hard enough without adding more tasks.

Hat, hate, that, oops can’t follow that stream, especially when adding an ‘S’. Well, hats, works. Just don’t put the ‘S’ at the beginning.

Okay, stream gave up to vapor. But I wanted to share the finished dragon. No straightening or frame, but diamonds are in place.๐Ÿ˜Š

Done!

And new painting has been kitted up.

My kitchen can’t wait for this cutie.
