I’m so sorry. I found this to be the most boring of all the series. I guess even Nancy Warren has to have a bad few days of writing.

Hollis McCarthy (the Narrator) made it sound pompous and unrelatable. I couldn’t stay awake to it even while playing my games. So, the shortest book took me twice as long to read.

Worst of all, the murder wasn’t even brought up until near the end of the book. The story was about how our main character was trying to figure out why the producer was in town to make a porno of Jane Eyre. And how this witch doesn’t get arrested for murder in any of these books amazes me. She is always there when it happens or nearly so.

And I still can’t figure out how the lady with the watch was electrocuted. I listened to that part a couple of times. I just had to know that it happened, and there is the whole case. Bah!

I don’t know how this non-vampire person ended up reading/listening to so many books about vampires lately, but here we are. I must say most of them don’t include blood-sucking types. This one, though, did.

Any fan of the Buffy series will find this fun. So many of our actors from the show are in this Audible “show.” I say, show as I could picture all that was happening in my head. The sound quality was fun with sounds that made me think I was keeping my husband awake. But when I removed the headset, I found the sound was just on the headset.

I hope there are ways for those without Audible to enjoy this. Grant it, this was a little more gruesome than my more recent reads, but not more so than the Buffy show. As serious as the plot seems these characters have a good sense of humor to keep it light.

This was more like a radio show with music and sound effects. I don’t even know how this would work out as a book. So I hope you can find it. It was fun!

I’ve gotten so behind on my reviews, so this will be short as I barely remember it. Look, it isn’t a boring or bad book. It is perfect for when you don’t want to read something heavy—a beach read, maybe.

Hollis McCarthy (Narrator) lends her skill to the fun writing.

Leprechauns are a new addition to these gentle paranormal reads. Between ghosts of ancestors and the vampire book club, this witch has another cozy (read that ‘murder’) mystery to solve. It sounds silly, but the story reads well for young adults. It is not scary or juvenile. Just a nice bedtime read.

As of this moment, I am reading the next in the series. They are all fun.

Hollis McCarthy narrates this fun book. So far, I have enjoyed every one of Nancy Warren’s books. So much so that I forgot to review this one and can only say it was fun like all the others. You see, what happens is I finish one and order the next right that minute and get lost in the next adventure.

As always, the only problem I have with cozy mysteries is the murder. Why? And the witches or vampires never cause it, just a grumbling human. Aw, well, it gives us something for the book club or knitting club to solve besides how many stitches or pages we’ve done.

Sarah Zimmerman’s narration is a bit off-putting. But after a while, you get used to her cadence and the smirk in her voice.

Once again, the yarn shop is where a batch of late-night knitters gather. These knitters just happen to be of the vampire variety.

My biggest problem with this book is that by now, Lucy, the store owner, who inherited, sort of, from her grandmother, who is now a part of the night shift yarning club. Lucy is still just knitting scarves and having a hard time. With all that help, she should be much farther along in her abilities. I wish I had that many teachers helping me figure out how to deal with the dropped stitches or tangled mess a distracted mind can create.

That’s not much of a problem in the long run. Lucy is learning to be a proper witch and trying to be a good person. So I shouldn’t complain. The rest of the story is fun. And the cozy mystery wrapped up in yarn pulls you in.

I love this series, and I already have the next book lined up for when I have a few moments to take a bite with my needles clicking.

Oh, boy! That was fun! It’s probably not the best bedtime book, as it made me laugh and kept me awake. With a whole lineup of actors: Felicia Day, Sean Astin, Neil Gaiman, Lily Pichu, London Hughes, and Wil Wheaton, I felt like I was watching a movie. I do hope it gets to be a show.

Oh, the craziness! The chosen one is the failed one. All magic comes with a price, even if it doesn’t work! I hope they make it so everyone can listen to it. My friends who don’t have Audible still can’t enjoy it. I hope that even folks who have to use Libby will be able to laugh at this soon.

This was a refreshingly fun read. First, it is only $.99 for the whole book bundle. I listened to text-to-speech. If you need to see what pulled me to read it:

Bookish introvert Morgen Keller never thought she would have a midlife crisis. That was before her husband divorced her, her boss let her go, and her grandmother died.

Forty wasn’t supposed to look like this.

When Morgen inherits Grandma’s old farmhouse in the small town of Bellrock, Washington, it could be a chance for a fresh start.

There are just a few problems…

A fearsome werewolf has claimed the property for himself, Grandma didn’t die of natural causes, and, oh, she was a witch.

Embroiled in a mystery, and heir to powers she knew nothing about, Morgen must turn to the only person who might be able to help: the werewolf who threatened to rip her throat out for trespassing.

This isn’t the fresh start on life that Morgen had in mind.

Lindsay Buroker has become a new favorite author. She doesn’t take herself too seriously. There were times in the book when she made the main character laugh at the author. I laughed out loud and woke my husband. Sorry.

I’d love to meet up with the characters later. I’d love to watch how the story unfolds after the end.

Meanwhile, I have picked up a couple of other book deals by the author to read in the future. I can hardly wait.

This was a fun book that, at last, didn’t have to do with someone under 60. It only took a couple of nights to get through. I do wish it were in Audible, but text-to-speech was still doable.

A mature woman whose marriage is over and the offspring has a child of his own finally finds her power, and boy, it’s a lot!

And her caretaker is a gargoyle. Her name is Kevin!

Hopefully, those weren’t spoilers.

It was such an entertaining book; I now have the second book lined up.

I needed a light read. This did the trick. Though it had scary topics, it was all tongue-in-cheek fun.
Coleen Marlo, the narrator, was fun to listen to, although her males sounded hoarse and hard to distinguish from each other.

This is a story for you if you like witchy stories with humor. It is a fast read; I think I read it in one night. It’s weird that I still call listening to a book ‘reading.’ But it goes in my head as if my eyes were on it. I like Audible because I don’t have to have the light on to read. I like how narrators can pronounce words that might not be common in my world. And in this case, Coleen giggled or nearly shouted at the appropriate moments, keeping me interested the whole time.

Sadly, I am not in the mood to reach out for the next book. I think it was the googly, girlie attitude toward the handsome man. I hate that stuff. Not romantic. Just small-minded reasons to do things. I like stronger, smarter characters.

Still, like I said before, it was a quick, fun read.

Lenny Henry, narrator made this one of the most fun books I’ve read (listened to) in a long time. There were so many quotes that I wanted to put into my blog. But that would be spoilers. Go to GoodReads and look them up once you’ve read this book. I would be doing my diamond painting and then suddenly I’d have to stop because I would be laughing out loud. I’d have to calm down before trying to place the little gem into the picture.

What can I say about Neil Gaiman that hasn’t been said? His writing and imagination is fantastic.

This is considered book 2 of the American Gods. But I don’t know if you need to read that first. I did read AG a bit ago and loved it, too. But it isn’t necessary to enjoy this shorty but goody. Okay, maybe it isn’t so short. But after the tomes of Outlander this was a nice break.

I only decided to read this because Whoopi Goldberg is going to star in the theatrical version. Now I can hardly wait to see it!
